Chiarelli interview: "Ward Good to Go"

Aaron Ward, who was sucker punched by Carolina forward Scott Walker, will play tonight according to Peter Chiarelli in an interview with Dale and Holley this morning. Chiarelli stated Ward had a previous injury to his orbital bone but will play tonight. Chiarelli also stated Zdeno Chara, who suffered a slash to the back of the ankle, will be fine but is sporting a bad bruise. Walker will not be suspended as the NHL rescinded his suspension but he will be fined $2,500. To hear the interview go to WEEI's webpage and click on the Audio on Demand page.

Blake Wheeler is expected to be a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Wheeler will sit in favor of Shawn Thornton and Byron Bitz. Bitz is expected to take his spot on the second line. With Wheeler's absence in game five, the Bruins went to five forwards instead of six during the penalty kill.

The Bruins have not recalled any defensemen from Providence, providing further evidence that both defensemen will be 100% to go tonight.

UPDATE: Aaron Ward made it through the entire practice without a visor.

I'm still stunned and wondering if colin cambell is suffering from some type of mental illness or does he just recent the B's? Did O'Reilly beat the shit out of him back in the day?

Can someone convince me why Looch deserved to sit 1 game for his infraction and walker gets a little wallet slap.

A reactionary cross check to the head vs. a bare knuckle punch to a guys face who had his hands down and wanted no part of a fight.

On a positive note...my bro just got back from his 8 hour trek to Beantown and now I have my own gold towel and a cool Looch t-shirt.

HERE WE GO BRUUUIINNNNSS....HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I trust, hope & pray that the Bruins do not try & seek revenge tonight. This is not the right time or opportunity. Tonight is about staying focused to the task at hand and playing an emotionally-charged game that does not go over the edge.

I sincerely believe that if the Bruins play that way, stay disciplined and force the Canes to the edges, we will win quite handily. Otherwise, it will be a long & horrible night.

If the Bruins can use the 'events' & tactics of the other night constructively, all will be fine. Even more so if they survive the adrenaline rush of the Canes in the 1st period and force the Canes to play the Bruins game.

Key players to focus on tonight - Staal (of course), Cole, Whitney, Ward & our old pepper-pot Samsonov. Whitney & Samsonov should go away with concerted physical play by the Bruins. Ward cannot stop what he can't see (more traffic and drive to the net by the Bruins). That only leaves Staal & Cole. Timmy & Zee & committee should do the job provided they do not get supporting help from the aforementioned Whitney & Samsonov. As this is a road game, the Staal-Cole shutdown must be by committee. One-on-one against Zee will not work.

Sorry if the Bruins worried you guys, it's partially my fault. i sent a letter to Cam Neely asking if they could stretch this series a bit longer than 4 games...I need them to play more so I can get points in my pool.

So the bruins will win game 7 by a score of about 10-1 (i don't have thomas).

haha Mook, I can take partial responsibility - I buy a new hat when I go to the games... I bought a new one in game 1 (WIN) and instead I bought a Jersey at game 2 (Loss) so I went back to wearing the hat I bought at game 1 and voila! 2 more wins! it's the hat boys!

ORRRRR it could be that the Bruins are the real deal ;) And last time I checked, the Hurricanes should be nervous after winning 6 and 7 on the Devils to take the series. Taste of their own medice? I think so!

Go B's!

It's your fault then, McPuck.

My boss is starting to get on me about this playoff beard...haven't shaved since the final game of the regular season.

montador....right when that happened i was pumped the bruins scored...but pissed because i knew jefe wasnt gunna let me live it down. small price to pay for a game 7 victory.

the only thing that worries me are these massive hour long break outs in which the canes look like their on this 5-3 relentless powerplay. we shut that down, we win. our play making looks 1000000 X better in out last 2 games as well. maaybeee they " want it all" after all.

so now with a broken tail bone from last nights game, (cheap shot on a breakaway) im forced to have nothing to keep me busy ( being out of work) untill tomorrow nights good ol fashion boston ass whoopin' however im sure the intence pain radiating from my ass bone could put some smiles on a few gents in here.

lets keep big mo on our side and come out full steam ahead. and let the caniacts know how it feels to be up 3-1 just to fail in dominate fashion.

go bruins!

This isn't baseball, there is no superstition in hockey.

Thats pretty funny williss, I wont give you too hard a time about Mantador's goal, but for him and Hnidy to chip in a goal in each series is huge. As much as I like Ferrence, he looked awful in those 2 games back, and these guys have been getting it done the last 2 games. They both have finals experience and are a solid 5th and 6th guy.

I was cheap shotted as well last night playing D in a fricken roller hockey game; 4 man pile up scrum in the corner and my teammate pushes this guy so he follows through with glove and stick right to the corner of my eye. I usually play with a cage, but my helmet had just got pulled off in a headlock and league rules are a penalty if you dont put the fuckin thing back. So I never had time to snap my cage back, and the puck was in my feet with me looking down. We were eliminated from the playoffs, but who cares! The Bruins are going to beat those dirty canes.

Who says there is no superstition in hockey? Plenty of it, but I have decided to let it play less a role in my life. I know only partake in maybe 15 or so concious efforts, such as hanging my Bruins towel in the morning, turning on my Bruins lamp before games etc. Not bad considering as a child I had a pre-game prayer before my Bruins shrine. Every game.

Thank you all for taking the blame. I thought it was me for wearing the wrong jersey. For game 1 I wore the right jersey and games 2-4 I was in a rush and put on the wrong one. I put on the right one for 5 & 6 though. Can you guess which one I am wearing Thursday night.

Oh and my wife doesn't like the playoff beard at all.

Gotta have faith!!

there is ALL KINDS of superstition in hockey...

ever notice Pat Roy never stepped on the lines?
Andy Moog never touched the posts?
Eric Lindros never kept his head up?

baseball sucks, no comparison.

breaking your ass sucks, man. i feel for ya.

Superstition in the game? yes. Not as as over done as with baseball players. yes. Superstition with hockey fans? Lame. Come on, we're better than that.

fuck my life, i cant afford bruins tickets right now, and it kills me.

10:08 PM
Anonymous Whopperfoo said...

Not bandwagon. I love to sit deep in the balcony and lose my voice every time I can get a ticket to a game. Love the comments on this blog, but the recent superstitious ones really got me laughing and had to comment. That fan mumbojumbo is for baseball, hockey is way better than that.

i was listening to eei and i couldnt help but to take notice to several fans calling in saying how bad they want this to be real close, and how they would love to see it go to overtime...blah blah blah. i wanted to rip the radio out! i dont want this to be close. i was to be up by 17 before the 2nd inter. im getting pissed just thinking about how stupid people can be.

we will win tonight. bottom line.

time to start cooking this effn' heart attack

As far as tickets go, people are gouging. A guy I know only as an aquantance has season tix in the 6th row just to the side of the penalty box and he wasn't able to go. He offered tonights game to a buddy of mine for 119 a piece...

It all depends on who you know and how much they like you

my friend has season tickets in 309. not great seats but his price was like 28 bucks or something but thats only because he is a season ticket holder. not sure how much individual tickets go for at the boxoffice.

I am desparately hoping & praying that the Bruins do not toss up a stinker like the Caps did last night. Sorry, but I am nervous & am ready to have my heart attack now. Borderline psychotic-just need one thing to go wrong.

If we score first and add to it only then will I be fine. The Bruins are on the fine line between winning & losing in this series. So many times thay have been up by 2 or more & allowed the Canes back in. We need that critical big goal at the right time tonight and it is an absolute must that we screen Ward big time..

go bruins go.

Real Bruins fans don't say "Go Bruins Go". Canadiens' fans say "Go Habs Go". Therefore "Go Bruins Go", is a no-no. "Go B's" or "Lets go Bruins" are acceptable alternatives. Thank you.

Piss poor period. The Canes got what they wanted - out of the 1st and not behind - no help from the refs mind you. More intensity is required by the B's.

Even shittier 2nd period. The Bruins are not in the groove tonight. Last period of the year coming up. No PP, out of sync and no hits - out of playoffs. It was good while it lasted - se ya next year.
