Injury Updates

Phil Kessel has a swollen elbow and missed practice yesterday. He will be available tonight. Here's what Claude Julien said yesterday

“When he fell yesterday, he banged his elbow. It’s not a big deal. It’s a little swollen this morning, so we just kept him off. He’ll be 100 percent tomorrow,”

Notes from Kevin Paul Dupont's Sunday Column.
Matt Hunwick is still recovering from spleen surgery. He has lost around 10 pounds but if the Bruins advance to the finals, Hunwick has a shot at playing.

Marco Sturm has also been working out but the chance of Sturm returning for the playoffs are about 1%.

Phil Kessel's injury didn't look promising when it originally occurred. Kessel was obviously in pain but stayed in the play and helped generate Savard's first goal. Hopefully, no further issues arise. Great news on both Sturm and Hunwick. If Hunwick could return for the finals (hoping the Bruins make it that far), his puck moving ability would be extremely important in a series against Detroit. As for Sturm, I will be excited to see him back next season especially with the progression of the younger players.

bruins role again tonight, the canes really do not match up against us well. we are in cam wards head. would not be to surprised if it is another 4-1 game.

You guys are a real piece of work. I mean, seriously, do you honestly think that you can stop Stall and Whitney again tonight. Get real. Stall scores 2, Whitney 1 and Brind'amour into an enmpty net. 4-2 Canes. BELIEVE THAT!!

All I need to say is:

Cam Ward. Wow.

Anonymous psands said...

yea cam ward played good, but i wont say great. the good thing is that i think we outplayed them, and only lossed by two(dont count empty netters) because of a couple of bonehead plays on our part.

we threw a lot of shots at ward, but not that many with traffic in front of him, i know everyone is jerking off to that save he made on ryder, it was a great save, but ryder would be the first one to tell you that he blew that, ward was already down, if ryder gets that puck off the ice he scores.

the thing that really sucks is that we have 2 and a half days to wait until they play again. but i think the bruins are going to be sick to their stomaches and they will come out flying wens.

ok im real pissed....real drunk...and need to give real credit to cam ward....you stopped some pucks. congrats. enjoy it while you can.

im also somewhat glad that we get to give canes fans the dick tease they need. you know theyr all flippin out over one game ( being the ONLY game they will win in this series) so it will just make it sweeter when we win it at home instead of the sweeep we all saw coming. well...not all. pretty much mook and I.

so fuck ittt. noones goes through out the entire playoffs with sweeps, ill give the canes their well earned mulligan.

and for fucks sake, bring up boychuck. andrew is INVISIBLE out their...and while wer at it, montador has been nothing but a disapointment since coming here so screw it...

someone prooooove meeee wrooongggg

ps we shot alot of those pucks right at cam, so before you sugar cane fans start fappin over wardo, you may wanna check the highlights

Sorry guys,

When I go to a Bruins game I buy a new hat... every time. Detroit game I bought my Looch hat, New York I bought a 3rd symbol hat, and Friday I bought an old time hockey hat - they won all three games...

I bought a jersey last night instead of a hat :( I feel awful

LOL

Wow...Ward was awesome ! The Bruins overall just didn't have the jump and intensity they usually do. They were bound to lose a few along the way, now they have to respond !

Kessel was BRUTAL today...soft, so hopefully that was his bad one out of the way.

P.P. needs to get going. Recchi is in a funk, replace him with Lucic.

Can't wait unitl Wednesday to get this back on track.

Bruins lost that game themselves. Ward was good, but not great.

So, that being said, no team has ever waltzed through the playoffs winning every game. Its very rare that a team who makes the second round gets swept.

Some of you may take this the wrong way, but losing that game was most likely a blessing in disguise. Sometimes you need to lose to remember what it is that has made you a dominant team, and there is so much hockey left to play.

The Bruins are a much deeper, physical, defensive, offensive team, with a better goalie.

Ferrence isnt the only one who played badly yesterday...but Julien will crack the whip, and they will respond.

ward needs to play like that 3 more times for the canes to win. not going to happen.

maybe the layoff hangover took 1 game to set-in...

thank you jefe77 for being the only one to say ward did not play amazing. he did play good, but not amazing. he did not have to deal with any traffic at all in front of him. that save on ryder, was nice, but ryder has to get that under the cross bar, and he will next time because he is a goal scorer.

look at these habs fans come out of the woodwork now...we swept you 4-0...how would the habs faired against the canes last game? 10-0?

honeslty, go work on your mob ties and figure-out who'll be playing for you next year. my prediction: joe thornton and alex auld.

no, why would you wish that on a great guy like Auld... I hope he gets a starting gig somewhere not crappy next year :(

They're the geriatric grundle of the NHL... it servers literally no purpose.

PS. I logged in last week, but I plan on hopping into the chat around 7 before the game starts if anyone wants some snarky conversation.

Oh the bruins chatter is down significantly. One loss and the bandwagon is empty. It will be virtually non-existent when the canes beat up the b's tonight. 5-2!!

O.K. not the end of the world....but it is coming close ! For what it is worth here are my ideas.

1) Likely going to get yelled at for this but...Axelsson back on the first line, Lucic back with Krejci and Ryder and Wheeler back on the fourth line. Wheeler has been awful !! That Lucic-Ryder-Krejci line was awesome vs. Habs !

2) 1st line P.P.....Lucic-Savy-Ryder-Wideman-Chara

Kessel has gone back to last years play-offs SOFT and INVISIBLE out there !!

Do or die on Friday !!

10:50 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

kessel has been awful. thanks to axelsson chara had no one to pass to which resulted in that turnover and goal. julien needs to stop rolling four lines, the fourth line will never score.

Anonymous psands said...

i dont think we need to make that many drastic changes, for some reason we stop playing in the second period, we get to complacent.

if ference is out, for the love of god bring up boychuk, we need another d-man that can move up the puck. we score goals when we put bodies in front of ward, we need to keep doing that and we will score.

i hate questioning claude, but why the fourth line in ot, i understand any other time of the game, but not when you just had a great shift from your first line, and your trying to build off it.

we did make a comeback in the third though, and had a couple chances to win it in the beginning of ot. thought i might throw something positive in at the end.

11:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

thank you psands! i still dont like you but the fact that you brought up boychuk means that your not as big as a moron as i thought you were. that guy has been MONEY down in provi. im getting real sick of montador and come on...there is NO WAY i am the only one who feels that way.

its not the end of the world as birdman said. hell even going down 3-1 isnt the end of the world...( caps proved that)

the bruins lost a game they should have won for stupid reasons:

-not lifting the puck...a few times

-savards STUPID penelty ( still pissed about that)

-STEVE FUCKING MONTADOR
( i dont wanna hear this bandwagon shit from sugar gay, the guy isnt a true bruin)

- a HORRIBLE powerplay

- phill kessel does the same exact move on one on ones everytime he has the puck ( you know what one) and it doesnt work anymore

the list goes on.

the canes are playing like they want it a hell of alot more. and their stupid inbred redneck fans think their team is god gift to hockey even though their the backwash of a failure to hockey...whalers?

alot of beer will mend the pain of this heartbreaking loss. but hey....its only 2-1 right? worse things could have happened.

The curl and drag to snap shot by Kessel? Yeah, 98% of defencemen in the league know that's coming.

They'll throw Hnidy back in which I like. He can be a mean bastard and they could use some toughness around Thomas. The Hurricanes were in his face all night. Also I think they should put Bitz back on the 4th line with Yelle and Thornton or Wheeler. I hate to say it but either one of them could use to sit a game. I love Bitz down low, and they need more pressure in the Canes end.

Look how bads your team really are. If Habs was healthy they would wins also. HA HA HA!

5:19 AM
Anonymous MC Puck said...

Lol ok, HabMan - your team is out of the playoffs because they sucked and had no depth. Cork it.

As far as the game last night, there were TWO stupid penalties... Ryder took a dumb penalty out of frustration in the 2nd that made me throw things.

This team is playing undisciplined hockey and it needs to change or they're in deep water.

I think Julien needs to switch things up a bit, move Wheels up and Kessel down maybe? They showed some spunk at times in the 3rd period, but they need a consistent attack if they want to win - Carolina has heart if nothing else.

Go Bruins!

8:07 AM
Anonymous Habhater said...

The Bruins need to get back to their slogan, "We Want It". The last game was as if they didn't care if they wanted it. Whatever happened to the banging bruising in your face play exhibted agianst the Habs? More heart & desire is required.

8:16 AM
Anonymous Sugar Cane Gal said...

Face it boys, your bruins don't have the gumption to win. You can't match our intensity, desire & will to compete. You have won your last game of the playoffs. Easy pickings from on in. No heart, no desire, no will to compete = no team = no cup.

8:18 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

bruins will still win this series, so you may as well enjoy it while u can.

-4th line produces chances, they just can't finish.
-montador played well, mostly. whenever he made a mistake, it was highlighted by goals
-chara let samsonov walk around him in OT. woops!
-savard has disappeared...he need a goal to get off the schneid.
-bruins has 3 or 4 chances in ot to bury the canes, but couldn't finish.
-bruins second goal was shit, but a goal is a goal. let's see if they build off that.
-the second canes goal was weak.

eric staal is hurt. trust me. game 4 he will be a non-factor.

place your bets folks!

(not for anything, but it's game 4 on fri; a new post with "hello" or something so we can get a fresh blog going)
