Around the League - Guerin, Morris pulled from lineups

Bill Guerin of the NY Islanders and Derek Morris of the Phoenix Coyotes have both been pulled from their lineups tonight. This likely means both players are getting dealt. Would Guerin be a possibility back with the Bruins? Guerin brings veteran leadership and has an expiring contract. However, it is very unlikely the Bruins make a run at him considering his age (38), he plays right wing (the Bruins need a left wing) and a decline in his production (16 goals, -15). Pittsburgh seems like a good destination and would come relatively cheap.

Derek Morris on the other hand would look nice on the Bruins blue line. Although he does shoot righty, he would be an offensive upgrade over both Ward and Hnidy. Morris has size (6'0" 220 pounds) and can play with a mean streak. An addition on the back end would be nice, but acquiring Morris would probably be costly. The Bruins need to address their left wing position first and foremost. I wouldn't be surprised to see Morris wind up in Montreal.

TSN: Sources tell TSN that Guerin has been told he likely will not learn which team has expressed interest until the morning, as the Islanders work on finalizing a deal. However, if a deal is in the works, the Boston Bruins are not involved in the trade.

Stephan Harrisof the Boston Herald reports the Bruins have been linked to Toronto’s Tomas Kaberle in the rumor mill with the B’s apparently offering top prospect Joe Colborne, their 2009 first round pick and a third rounder for Kaberle.

Way too much for Kaberle. It seems like the Bruins giving up both Colborne and a first rounder this season seems like a large chunk of their future to move, even if it is for Pronger or Kaberle. Moving a 19 year old centre who's 6'5 and has that much talent...well, that's the kind of trade that can end up on one of those "worst trades of all-time" lists in the future.

wut does E5 mean?

E5 really means nothing !!

Eklund ( rumor guy) uses E1 E2 E3 etc... to rank the possibility of a trade. Usually E5 is after TSN repotrs it !

Whats up B fans ? I've been reading lots of different rumours and listening to all your comments and do have too say that we cant stay pat this year not everyone can say they have a chance of winning the cup and we do. So on that note you have too sell some of your future (prospects draft picks) to get a player or two that will put you over the top. Yes we do have some good prospects but we also have alot of great young talent on our team right now, so I hardly think by throwing away 3 or 4 prospect to win a cup or try is going to effect our future. Pronger and Kaberle trades are a steal for us these to studs have another year on there contract and that is awesome for us.

i really dont think kaberle is worth it. he plays for toronto so he is over hyped. and burke will bitch chia around in a trade and end up getting lots more than he is worth. i would give up a second and maybe lash, but thats it.

Dude are you kidding look at Kaberle's stats not only that he would be coming to a team thats 10 times better then the Leafs ask yourself this what would you want for Widemen then add another player cause Kaberle gets 20 more points then Widemen. COME ON LETS BE REALISTIC HERE .!!!!!!!!

never said he was not a good player, but burke is asking for a first rounder, colborne, and a third rounder. so he is basically asking for two first rounders and then a third, and probably will squeeze even more out of chia. not saying he is not great, but is he worth all that? i would only expect the bruins to get a first rounder for wideman by the way, and wideman is younger and only getting better.

I would like to see Pronger or Kaberle on the blue line for the Bs. But I am totally against the thought of trading Colburne. Hamill maybe, but not Colburne.
But think of this realistically. Who is coming off the books next year? Fernandez, Yelle, Axelsson, Hnidy and Thomas are all UFAs. Then we have Kessel, Krejci, Bitz, Karsums, Hunwick, Lashoff and Boychuk as RFAs.
The way it looks, Fernandez, Hnidy, Axelsson and Yelle will most likely not be coming back. But both Kessel and Krejci will be looking for a big payday. Even worse, a rival team... say the Kings (who have plenty of cap room) could sign them to an offer sheet. Bitz, Karsums, Hunwick and Boychuk can all be re-signed.
If we bring in a Pronger or a Kaberle, how do we resign the ones we have to? With the ones that will be off the books, we will have cleared almost 7.7 million. Is that enough for Kessel, Krejci and Thomas? NO! We need to clear money.... just to resign the young guys. And not to add fuel, but the following year will be Lucic and Wheeler!
Why not package Bergeron? He is playing the third line center now, with Savard and Krejci above him. St. Pierre could take over third line duties. Bergeron could fetch us a proven player, give us the much needed cap room, and with his concussions, i'd rather take a chance on Krejci long term, then Bergeron.
And before i'm bashed.... I love Bergeron! But this is a business and someone has to go for us to keep the other young guys.

I believe you're right on the money BosBrn77. My girlfriend and I have been saying "Trade Bergeron" all season long. He's not the same player that he was before he got hit. Trading him would clear up CAP and allow us to sign two important offensive cogs in Krejci and Kessel.

Give me Cole please. Morris wouldnt look bad on the blueline either if he replaces Hnidy.

Cole for Nokelainen and a third
Morris for St. Pierre and a 4th.

first of all why would we trade bergeron now, when we need to add not subtract from our team. i dont think people understand that this might be the one shot we have to win it all, and we have to go for it. i dont think we need to add to much, only a left winger and maybe a solid d-man, if it does not cost us too much. nokelainen and a third wont be enough for cole, and st.pierre and a fourth wont be enough for morris. we will be able to sign kessel, krejci, and thomas, i would not be surprised if chia tried to trade bergeron or sturm, but not until after the season, not now.

You trade Bergeron now, to get the final piece we need. He missed time this year with the second concussion and we did fine without him. Put St. Pierre as third line center.
Not to mention, moving him now would allow PC to get Krejci and Kessel under contract long term now, and not pushing it in July. Let David and Phil sit after the season waiting on a contract, allows them to wonder "what if?"! But signing them now, with the season still going, and Black and Gold Pride running through them, gives us a better chance of... "if not this year... then NEXT!!"
I like Bergeron! And as much as I'd love seeing him as a Bruin for a long time, I have to put him behind Kessel and Krejci on the "who to keep" depth chart. Not to mention we have a lot of good centers coming up.
