Another Cole Update

According to the Edmonton Sun, the Oilers are looking for someone who can "win a faceoff, kill a penalty and play alongside Ales Hemsky". Doesn't Per Johan Axelsson sound like the perfect fit for this? He fits two of the three needs the Oilers are looking for. He is great of the PK and can play opposite Hemsky on one of the top two lines. An Axelsson, Karsums/Nokelainen, and a pick for Cole swap would be an excellent deal for the Bruins. Unlikely to happen but we can all dream.

TSN also reported that a Cole-Kovalev swap could also be something the Oilers would consider doing.

I am pretty sure PJ has a no-trade clause in his contract and if that's so then I can't see him waiving it... If that Kovalev rumor is in fact a rumor, I can't see it happening either because of the fact that they would be renting Kovalev and I think the Oilers are looking beyond this year and the future..

that would be sick. whats the chances of it happening?

I know Axe has been bashed all year - I don't disagree he should not be on the PP but he does bring good instincts to the table - I think he will be an asset in the playoffs - True bruin fans know he has been a shutdown guy over the past years playing against some of the best forwards in the league. He has had a brutal year and I still cringe most games watching some of the bad plays he makes. I am sure he would be the first to agree. I would feel better going into the playoffs knowing he will be playing.

Axe is not going anyhwere. Julien love his defensive game and let's face it: he's not the worst player on this team. Cole is a rental and we should not give more then draft pick for him

after his long career in boston i would feel bad seeing axe go when finally we have a great team. but we do not need him. he is good on the pk but thats it. we have plenty of good pkillers this year, bergy yelle, savard wheeler, krejci, we do not need him anymore. but it does not matter because no way would the oilers ever think about trading for axe. we will be stuck with him for the rest of the year. bring up reich!

I agree. As he said it is unlikely to happen but the day PJs run in boston is over ill be the happiest man in this city. the bruins need cole or another lefthanded shot just to get this clown off the pp.

The Bruins are going through power-play drills, with Patrice Bergeron back on the point.

First unit: Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard, P.J. Axelsson, Chuck Kobasew.

Second unit: Dennis Wideman, Andrew Ference, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Blake Wheeler.

I know Bergeron has been playing a lot better but, back on the point on the PP?

ok.

All this negetive talk from the Bruins fans. We must be worrying them now.
We WILL make the playoffs and hope to play the Bruins in the 1st round. We WILL beat you then and we WILL beat you tonight.

Sorry for my fatal mistake James,

Did i mistake slash for comma?

"An Axelsson, Karsums/Nokelainen, and a pick for Cole swap"

Thanks for being the "check chief". I'll be watching you posts more closely.

On that note, your confusing me in the last thread; was it Ward saying "would" fit in with our current roster, or "would NOT", fit in with our current roster?
Make sure you clear that up James. We cant have any inaccuracies here, no matter how anal.

Hey Panther Piss, didn't you disappear for a while after your bold blogging here?

I think the Bruins wiped all over the Panthers if i remember correctly.

"In other news, PJ got an assist on the powerplay. that means hell never be replaced."

Wait, I'm confused James.

Are you saying HELL will never be replaced?

You forgot the word "will".

Just trying to return the favor and make sure no one is confused by inaccurate posts.

Look, I didn't mean to sound like an asshole. Which I did.

But, cmon, my point was the irrelativity of ones personal mistake in the reading of a blog.
Mundane mistakes dont need to be pointed out in such a manner with the sarcastic re-use of my "uh...ok...".

Of course it was appreciated for you to clear up my mistake, but the tone is one which should be reserved for stupid Panthers fans, such as our buddy "Panther Piss".

Sorry for acting like an asshole. Enjoy the game James, and remember...use the word "festive", or "one which is festive". Not the G or F word.

Average & mediocre - take your pick. The Bruins have been very average & listless since December. To say that I am disappointed with the effort is the understatement of the year. There is no more grit or sandpaper, save for Thornton. Whatever happened to Lucic? Ever since he crowned Komisarek he has done zip. Looch is a far cry from Neely. I seems to me that the Bruins with their comfortable point lead are content to paly on the edges. No effort to drive the net or be the aggressor. Until this team decides to play nasty and with an edge to their game, the playoffs will be a joke.

2-0 Panthers!! I TOLD you so. It will be the same on Tuesday & the same in the playoffs. So much for being a 1st place team. Your Bruins are done like dinner. Can't wait for Tuesday when I will get a second helping of the Cats feasting on the bears.

Jefe77 - hey fuck stick. How you like that? Pathetic Bruins are finished. They have blown their wad. Real hockey lives in Panther Town!! Piss pour effort by a piss pour team.

panther pal, do you really expect anybody to take you serious, your name is panther pal. you won a game against us in February and you think now we're done? the panthers are a joke of a franchise and probably wont be around in the next five years, they will be up north where people know about hockey. panther pal, what are you fucken 7?

PantherPal? fuck stick? wow. intelligent. I assume you mean piss poor, not pour. As for that, check the standings. The best your team can do against the STILL first place Bruins is tie the season series. yay. Go jack off on your 1996 Scott Mellanby poster.

THE NHL SHOULD MAKE A RULE THAT IF YOU DRAFT A PLAYER AND DEVELOP HIM, AND HE MAKES IT IN THE NHL(KESSEL,KREJCI,BERGEREON) ONLY HALF OF THAT PLAYERS SALARY SHOULD COUNT AGAINST THE CAP HIT. THIS COULD ONLY TAKE PLACE IF YOU DRAFT THE PLAYER. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT TEAMS HAVE TO LET PLAYERS LEAVE VIA FREE AGENCY BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT AFFORD THEM. TEAMS WHO DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS DONT HAVE TO, BUT TEAMS WHO DRAFT WELL SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY BY SEEING THEIR DRAFT PICKS LEAVE BECAUSE THE FUCKEN PAYROLL IS SO LOW. YOU CANT HOLD ON TO ENOUGH STAR PLAYERS. YOU DRAFT THEM, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP THEM, IF YOU WANT.

You got alot of BALLS to disappear after we wipe your own shit across your face, but you win a game you shouldnt have, and you come back like you actually have a pair.

You are a dipshit arent you? Maybe because your the product of your father and his sister,...

So, where did you run off to when i made you look like an idiot after the Bruins smoked your temporary team (The Las Vegas Panthers, what a ring!)

Judging by your reaction, you must have gone and beaten your children, burned the baked beans, and then passed out drunk in your stained wife beater pissing yourself.

Man, Florida must smell like piss!!!

Ah hahah hahahahahha!

You white trash, hick ass fuck.

Come up here where we have teeth and education, and we'll talk about our 5 Stanley Cups, compared to your one-time failure.

Gee, did Scott Melanby shoot a rat in the locker room? That must have been a thrilling finals experience.

As much as I hate other team bloggers coming on our site and shitting on us, Panther Pal does make a good point. We have been far too soft and passive recently. The Bruins are most effective and practically unbeatable when they play a physical, take-no-prisoners, crash type, drive to the net type of hockey. It's high time they realized this & get on with the job instead of standing around and reacting to the situation. They must dictate the game from the get go and punish the opposition. This includes everyone, not just looch, Thornton & chara. I have seen every game so far this year & the B's are not mean-spirited enough and are too laid back.

pantherpal you need to check your stats big guy. bruins = top of the east. panthers arnt even going to make the playoffs. beating the bruins was your stanley cup. congratulations.

now to the grown ups in here, i am not sold on cole. sobotka is worth keeping even though he gets tossed around. this bringing up Reich is redic. the guy is terrible. Bitz has a ton of heart but he just lacks the skill.
dont waste time on cole, or tkachuck, and we are set on defence.
dont trade at all. scratch pj and let hunwick play forward. he still has the defence presents.

looch, savard, wheels
sobotka, krej, kessel
hunwick, berg, kobe
thor,yelle,noki/bitz

(pending on whenever ryder gets back)

i still say nik antropov would be a huge grab for us and i know im going to get shit on for it but its just what i think.
also tim thomas is the worst nhl goalie is history. he flops and gets lucky...thats it.

bring up reich, who cares if he does not have skill? if you were fucking paying attention the last 6 games or so you would see that we dont need more skill, we need some fucken grit. reich brings that. i love all the fuck sticks who say i love our fourth line because they can put the puck in the net once in a while. i would rather have a fourth line that hit, fought, and brought some energy to the team. thats what a fourth line does, and it is what we are lacking. teams will bitch us around in the playoffs if we play this soft.

1:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

the bruins need size and grit but reich is just brutal and is actually only 196 pounds. the bruins should try matt marquardt. 6'3" 220 pounds. do it... do it...

well said, i too am sick of this pj axelsson like style of play.

Finally some talk about the sandpaper we so desparately need. Now if we can only get the players to buy in we should be ok. Having said that, Ax will defintely not buy into this and as much as I like his defensive skills, he has to go.
PC has stated publicly that there is a 60-75% chance that he will make a deal - any idea who we will lose and who will get?

1:41 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I honestly think if the coach can not keep PJ on the 4th line and off the PP, then PC should trade him. It is one thing to have a player with great defensive ability on the ice, but when his offense matches that of the goalie... he is no use. Claude was able to get Savard playing two way hockey.... unfortunately there is no hope for PJ's offensive side. I swear if I see his name called for a shootout again, I'll scream!

That being said.... I think the Bruins need to grab some grit. Can it be brought up from Providence? Maybe! They either need to make a few tweaks.... or a BIG splash!

I'm not sold on Cole, Antropov or Kaberle... at all! I'd rather see Boston grab a defenseman like Leopold from Colorado or Pronger from Anaheim. or a winger, Tkachuk from St. Louis or Guerin from the Isles.

The defense men will cost a bunch with players, prospects and/or picks. But with Guerin or Tkachuk, I think either could be had for a prospect and a mid round pick. Both are rentals, and the team should not give alot for them.

The Bruins have gone soft, they forgot that physical play is what has gotten them where they are.

Look at the last Panthers game, we beat them physically just like the first game we beat them convincingly.

Aside from that, it just seems execution has diminished game by game, as the puck confidence has gone down. The speed through the nuetral zone has been slowed down, and the PP is stagnant.

Manny seems to have lost his form, but aside from all of these downers, they can come back and still win the conference. Of course the division is probably won unless they fall completely on their face, but lets face it, they should have won both games this weekend by virtue of effort, but not execution.

As far as PJ goes, he is not going to get traded as teams going in the playoffs value a player with his talents, but as much as i have appreciated his d over the last 10 years, it hurts watching him on the PP. The fucked thing is, Bergeron has not been much better, and the Bruins need a GODDAMN one time specialist on the PP, and hopefully one that isnt afraid to throw his body around. Cole wouldnt be as good an addition as Guerin or Tkachuk, but I dont see them trading for another defensemen at this point.

Anonymous, I am passionate about the Bruins (obviously more than you) and there is nothing funnier than making fun of hick, or calling a possible hick candidate a hick. Thats even funnier. Why do you ask, are you a shit kicker as well?
