Bruins lose to Toronto

I was at this game, and boy did it suck.  Great first period with Wideman sending a Leaf into another area code on a huge hit mid ice.  Bergeron and Wheeler scored to make it 2-0 after one.  But, I still felt the Bruins were outplayed a little that period and could not get the puck out of the zone or into the offensive zone with any pressure.

Lucic then exploded the glass on a huge hit which you think would have gave the team some momentum.  No.  The Leafs score two goals to tie it.  The defense was horrid, they could not get the puck out of the zone all night.  They also had 7 penalties, which you can't win by doing that.

Axelsson, Sturm, Yelle and others missed wide open tip ins, shots, etc.  We once again can't put the puck in the net.  Kessel is the only one who can create offense by himself.  Yelle is this year's Glen Murray.  I see a trend with only 5 goals in the past 3 games.  No offense.  Once again, we have no legit scorer to put games away.  Kessel is developing into one, Ryder doesn't seem to be the answer so far.  Let me list teams with 40-50 goal scorers or better scorers than the Bruins.  This team won't be a legit contender until they have a true sniper.

Anaheim-Selanne
Atlanta-Kovalchuk
Buffalo-Vanek
Carolina-Staal
Calgary-Iginla
Chicago-Havlat (when healthy)
Columbus-Nash
Colorado-Hejduk
Dallas-none
Detroit-Hossa, Zetterberg
Edmonton-none
Florida-none
Los Angeles-Kopitar, Frolov
Minnesota-Gaborik
Montreal-Kovalev
Nashville-none
New Jersey-Rolston, Elias, Gionta (potentially)
Islanders-none
Rangers-(Had Jagr), Naslund
Ottawa-Heatley
Philadelphia-Gagne
Phoenix-Doan, Jokinen
Pittsburgh-Malkin
San Jose-Cheechoo, Thornton
St. Louis-Boyes
Tampa Bay- St. Louis, Lecavalier
Toronto- none
Vancouver- none
Washington- Ovechkin

Some of these may be debatable, but the point remains the same, we need to put the puck in the net, especially when 1 goal can kill a team with  2 goal lead, but when you have a 2 goal lead and give up one, you let them back in the game.

Bruins are officially the worst team in the league. They just lost to the leafs. All this preseason hype was garbage. Same old shitty Bruins. You know that slogan "We want it as bad as you"? I really don't know if they do. I have yet to see a game where the bruins have put in a full 60 minutes of hockey. Honestly, losing to the leafs was just salt in the wound.

Brutal....just brutal !! 2-0 and piss it away, this is quickly becoming a trend !! I can hear it now in March...." If only we didn't piss away points early, we could have made it!"

i just got this great idea. let's throw this year out the window, get last place and pick up tavares in the draft!!! anyone with me? this is the greatest idea ever. not like we are going to make the playoffs when we can't play 60 minutes of hockey and we are losing to the leafs. yeah, let's get last and pick up tavares.

The B's always seem to play down to their opponent. No killer instinct!

A shit-kicking attitude needs to be established & they need to dictate the play - especially in their own end.

As regards our $4M man, Ryder is quickly developing into Ghost Ryder. He is a mere shadow of his former self, is hardly ever seen or heard from & is quickly developing into this year's Murray.

On the D, Chara plays like a wimp at times. With his size & strength he must be the dominant player he was acquired to be.

Thomas' play last night leaves a lot to be desired. He merely reinforced my assertion that he is not a goaltender, but merely a puck-stopper and a poor one at times.

As a die hard bruins fan I was sick after the game last night. The leafs are a AHL team at best. Aside from the two awsome hits the outcome was brutal. No wonder there where more empty seats than full ones. When is the power play going to be dangerous - please give up the the one defence and Bergeron on the point - it has'nt worked for the last two years - Why can't someone park thier butt in front of the net - Why was Lucic playing on the half boards on the PP - It looks like it will be a long year again - There are some players on this team which would be trade worthy. Make some changes now before the year is pissed away again. By watching the shots of Neely on tv you can tell this must be ripping his guts apart, I know it is mine.

Lets face it:

1. The team hasn't developed on step further since last year. Ryder is soso and Yelle a complete desaster. He sucks.

2. Tim Thomas is a below average NHL goalie, fullstop. Trade him, put Manny between the pipes and promote Raask

3. The powerplay is still a mess, no progress in the last couple a years. PK got even worse.....

4. We need a RELIABLE sniper NOW

Looks like a lost year....

Dirk

Promoting Rask is not the answer unless the Bruins intend to pull a Montreal-esque move and make him the starting goalie. Rask is a budding young franchise goalie, riding the bench in Boston would only delay his development. Manny has one year left on his contract, scratch Manny and Thomas occasionally from the lineup to allow Rask to get some games in, and dump Manny at the trade deadline for some sniper from a team that needs a goalie or a pick/prospect and make Rask the starting goalie with Thomas backing up. This of course is all if Rask is dominating the AHL, and if the B's have a legitimate chance at making the playoffs. Otherwise I like the Tavares idea.

TIMEOUT!!!!

ITS GAME 7 OF THE REGULAR SEASON AND THE BRUINS HAVE HAD AN UNFAIR SCHEDULE TO THIS POINT.

Let the team develop this a marathon not a sprint.

We have a rookie in Wheeler

Second year guys Krejci, Lucic, Nokie, and Sobotka.

Bergeron and Fernandez coming back from injuries.

Kobasew is hurt.

Ryder on a NEW team.

Couple of lucky bounces and shootout goals and we are top 4 in the EAST!!!!

That being said I was disappointed in the fan turn out last night.

I hope you are right - It is hard not be be negative - I have watched about 95% of bruin games for the last 20 years - The same pattern has started as the previous years - They need some one on this team who is going to call out the guys who are not getting it done. In my opinion everyone aside from Bergeron- Kessel - Krejci could be traded.

Say what you want but Thomas is SHIT I seen more empty net then I seen of him last night. Why dont we ride Fernandez for a couple of games. I know he hasn't been great but atleast he can stop a wrist shot from the point and he seems to be in position to take the shot its not always pretty or highlight save but it doesnt have to be. I would like to see PC going after a real shooter - Atlanta is hurting for cash - pack up Axleson - Thomas - Schafer - Sobotks - and a prospect for Ilya Kovalchuck - Savard setting up Ilya would be amazing. I would not even mind dumping Chara - I think he left his desire on top of the mountain this summer. PC should have gone after Rolston not Ryder.
I would dump Ryder - Fernandez - Schafer in a heartbeat but I doubt any team in league would be that dumb - We may have to throw Hazel May and Rob Simpson to get any deal done.

we don't even have hazel mae or rob simpson to dump into the deal anymore.

Shanahan is still looking for a team. - He knows how to put the puck in the net, he always was a serious threat on the PP

Thats what I've been saying Scott NY but everyone in here thinks Thomas is a god witch is bull shit!!!!!!!! Yes we didnt have our best game but those are routine saves and when a team doesnt confidence in there goalie it shows on the ice. Fallse Ontario

Oh ya our PP is garbage we need to put Chara's big ass in front of the net and put Kessel on the top unit and drop Sturm to the second unit or maybe even bench him for a game to prove a point. Fallse Ontario

I like that idea - Bergeron and Wideman on the point - Kessel - Savard on the half boards - and Chara about 5 feet in front of the net - maybe then he could hit the net with his slapshot.

Lol did you see him hit Luke in the head with that shot last night maybe he was going for a deflection. Fallse Ontario

Man, I can't believe what I am hearing. The season is 7 games old and everyone is giving up. Everyone knew we wern't going to win the cup this year, we were going to be a team that works and is hard to play against. They played bad last night, every team is going to play bad on any given night. Hell the Red Wings lost to the Leafs. Do you see the Wings fans giving up on them? Our team is young and we are still re-building, it will take time. I still say we need someone with good hands and that can score and a puck moving D-man. Our goaltending is better than alot of teams, they will hold up.
