Sobotka, Hunwick Recalled

The Bruins recalled Vladimir Sobotka and Matt Hunwick from Providence today. Sobotka will battle Nokelainen and Thornton for a spot on the fourth line. I wouldn't be surprised to occasionally see Sobotka skate on the 3rd line with Milan Lucic moving back to the fourth. With the Alberts trade, it is apparent the Bruins have more confidence in Hunwick then they had in Alberts. I would not be surprised to see him dress over Hnidy in the near future. Hunwick who looked good in the preseason, possesses good skating ability and has above average puck handling skills. His weaknesses are his lack of size and his defensive play in his own end.

I was not surprised to see this move with these two called up it leaves us with 748, 000 cap space. The only thing I hate about this is these two kids get top minutes in Providence and may only get 5 to 10 minutes with the big club, thats if their not a healthy scratch witch makes no sense how are we helping this kids. I was always hesitent with Hunwick in Providence last year, he does have speed and hands but he does not keep the puck in the attack zone. With all that speed and with puck moving ability he is a play killer. I do have to agree with Fallse Ontario, we send guys up to Boston and they play on the fourth line and see limited playing time. Shawn Bates was an old but good example for this. When he was in Boston he was limited to the checking line, moves to the Islanders and has great seasons because he was able to play on first and second lines with skilled players. I will be interested to see how he does in Boston.

I guess the way that this helps them is the increase in the skill of the competition. Granted there are lots of great kids in the AHL, it's the minor leagues for a reason, and that next step up can make a big difference.

Hey boys Im hoping we show up for three periods tonight. This is very big game for us, we need to dominate in our division so we can get home ice advantage this year and this is the only team that can get in our way from that. Fallse Ontario

the B's have yet to hit their stride & Les Habs are working like a fine-tuned engine. Couple that with the Habs nostalgic 100 year opener tonight & i hope that i am wrong, but it would not surprise me if the Habs thrash the B's tonight 6-2. Ouch!!!

3-3 looks like that didn't play out as prospected. Anyway in regards to Hunwick, he played pretty well, made a couple risky pinches but made sure he got the puck on all the ones I saw.
