Your lines

Axe on the 1st line?  Possibly.   These lines according to Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe.

Axelsson-Savard-Ryder
Sturm-Bergeron-Kessel
Wheeler-Krejci-Kobasew
Lucic-Yelle-Thornton

Nokie, Sobotka

Chara-Wideman
Ward-Stuart
Alberts-Ference

Hnidy

Thomas
Fernandez

I agree with the D and G, but the offense I'd tweak.

Lucic-Savard-Ryder
Sturm-Bergeron-Kobasew
Wheeler-Krejci-Kessel
Axelsson-Yelle-Nokelainen

Thornton, Sobotka

Since I am living in Wpg MB Canada and am unable to see more that 5 Bruin games a year (our cable company does not have center ice). How would Wheeler be on the same line as Savard and Ryder? Just from what I have read that could be a very dangerous line.

He's not in the basement yet. High School isn't finished for the day.

Per an earlier blog I hear that Kyle McLaren is on waivers. Wouldn't he be a good pick-up if PC could clear some cap room?

per my math, the B's only have $242,000 in cap space as a result of today's moves. In order to obtain McLaren at $2.5M, the B's need to shed more players. Hnidy - $757,500, Fat Alberts - $1,200,000, Ference - $1,400,000 ?

no matter how you cut it, the only way it may work is to shed Alberts & Ference and go with a 22 man roster. As much as i think McLaren would be a good fit, the logistics just do not make sense to me.

Maclaren is no better then Alberts or Hnidy or Ference.

Matt, I like your lines much better than Fluto's just because it takes Axelsson off the first line. Here's what I would like to see

Wheeler-Savard-Kessel
Sturm-Bergeron-Ryder
Lucic-Krejci-Kobasew
Axelsson-Yelle-Thornton

However, it is more than likely that Fluto's lines will be the ones we see once the season begins. Like many, I do not agree with the logic of having a defensive minded role player play on a line that should be intended to score.

I also think your lines are much better.

Kessel and Wheeler need to be on the same line. I think Kobasew and Sturm make the best linemates for Bergeron.

i dont think lucic belongs on the first line. hes one of my favorite players but the cam neely comparisons arent fair to the kid. lucic came in as an enforcer, and he is still working on his offensive skills. he needs another year or two before he is anything near the talent cam neely started with. and i definitly think that sobotka and noke cant both be on the bench, unless theyre planning on having a big rotation, because both of those guys need to play to develop.

I agree, I love Lucic but he isn't 1st line material just yet. I like Axe on the first line, he's great at shadowing other teams top players. It gives our first line some defensive accountabilty.

Second line with Sturm, Bergeron, Kessel is solid and playing with those two guys can't hurt Kessel's developement and shouldn't hurt his stats either.

Wheeler, Krejci, Kobasew could be dynamite as well. We all saw what Krejci could do last year, he was awesome filling in for Savard on the top line. Kobasew was our top foward until he got hurt, and Wheels is going to be great no matter who he plays with.

Everything is starting to fall into place. Hell even Manny Fernandez is starting to look better. This team is going to turn some heads.

The way I look at Lucic is that he may not be 1st line material just yet, but he doesn't deserve to be on the 4th line.

As far as the lines go, Savard and Ryder should play together. Sturm and Bergeron have great chemistry and will play together. I also think Kessel needs to play opposite Wheeler or Lucic, because they are big physical players that can make up for the lack of strength Kessel has in that area of his game. Lastly, Axelsson and Yelle should play 4th line since they will play a lot of PK minutes, and Thornton will obviously be on the 4th line.

So that puts this lineup out there.

-Savard-Ryder
Sturm-Bergeron-
Lucic/Wheeler-Krejci-Kessel
Axelsson-Yelle-Thornton

So Kobasew seems to be the right wing for the Bergeron line, leaving either Wheeler or Lucic to round out the 1st line. So who would you rather have on the 1st line? Lucic or Wheeler?

Based on Fluto's lines, I can't understand why Axelsson would be on the 1st line. I guess Claude must have seen something that I haven't.

P.S. I think McLaren could be a solid presence that provides the size of Alberts, only with more talent. I guess he got assigned to Worcester though, too bad. We could use another defenseman.
