Kaberle Boston bound?

Reports out of Canada are that Brian Burke has received an offer for defenseman Tomas Kaberle. The proposal would send a player and a pick to Toronto for Kaberle. Kevin Paul Dupont of the Globe believes the Bruins could possibly be that team. GM Peter Chiarelli wants to address the defense, especially by trying to add another puck moving defenseman. If the Bruins are indeed offering a player it would have to be a high salary player since Kaberle has a $4.25 million dollar cap hit next season. If Kessel's name is being dangled, then that would be a very steep price to pay for an inconsistent defenseman in the final year of a contract.

agreed. if kobasew, ward, or sturm go the other way im all for it. kessel and a pick for kaberle is way too much to pay. pass.

being from toronto, i have to watch the leafs more than any team. kaberle is OVERRATED.

trust me, he is not coming to boston.

burke has been moaning about draft picks and youth...he's not taking ward, sturm or any other old player...and kaberle is not worth kessel.

must i remind everyone that the problem was SCORING in the playoffs?

heatley to boston. M4

This would be awful. No way this move is happening.

Does anyone have a website that will have good updates for today into saturday? Thanks.

I take it back! the #7 pick certainly sweetens the deal!

TSN:

The Boston Bruins are in pursuit of Tomas Kaberle and a top 10 pick in today's draft.

Sources tell TSN the Bruins have offered restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel to Toronto in exchange for Leaf defenceman Kaberle and Toronto's No. 7 pick in today's draft.

The Leafs are apparently canvassing the league to see if there are any better offers out there.

if we do not address the scoring issue this off season we will be in the exact same position next year. we all know that the pens winning was fixed. i picked them to win last season right after they lost to detroit. sorry to be a conspiracy theorist but its too obvious. so unless the league wants them to become a dynasty the bruins need to get some scoring to win before the league saves the pens from bankruptcy again and they get another cup five years from now. a PROVEN goal scorer is something this team has not had in years.

kaberle is great i know, but this would be a dumb move, and its really hard to believe this. the 1st rounder would be great, but i dont like kaberle's salary or injury problems. if we are going to trade kessel, i want it to be for a young solid d-man.

Oh man, today is going to be fun. The Bruins need a goal scorer. If you are going to take away all the goals that Kessel scores we are in trouble. We need someone that can put in the same amount of goals or even more. If they can flip the draft pick to Ottawa for Heatly then I am OK with this deal. If they can't then DON'T do it.

don't worry vince...we can drop kessel and pick-up kaberle. combine that with sturm being healthy again and we're golden. now if we can somehow orchestrate a flip to ottawa for heatley...the cup is ours.

defense:

chara-kaberle
wideman-hunwick
stuart-ference

good times.

I heard it was kabby, the leafs 7th overall for kessel and our late 1st rounder.

As a B's fan I would make this move any day of the week. Kabby puts our 6 man D unit in a great position and he isn't overpaid. Wideman is too inconsistant on the PP and this move would improve us in that area for sure. I hate to say it but my gut is telling me that Kessel will not be a major factor long term for the Bruins. Not strong enough and injuries and illness has already limited him. Don't these health/injury issues improving and his value is at an all time high right now. It's a bold move, but I would roll the dice and make it.

Also, the Leafs 7th pick could end up being the best player in the entire deal. I really like this gamble and the more I think about it, the more I think Burke would be an idiot if he made it.
