Glen Murray loses hearing

After what seems months of wondering what was happening with Glen Murray's contract situation, arbitrators officially ruled against Murray and he will not be awarded the remainder of his contract. This however, is a bad thing for the Bruins cap situation, as his $1.383 million dollar buyout will continue to count against the 2009-2010 cap total.

Damn, I was really hoping Murray would win, so the 1.383 million would come off the books

Before Last Night we already knew Thomas and Fernandez won the Jennings and Krejci won the plus/minus award, added to that, Julien won the Jack Adams award for coach of the year, Thomas won the very deserved Vezina trophy and for the franchise's 14th time in History a Bruins Defenceman has taken home the Norris Trophy! Holy crap it's not the stanley cup, but it definitely is a job well done! Congratulations Boston Bruins on an incredible season! Woot woot.

Oh yes, that winner is Chara, how could I not say who won it? Not to mention that Thomas won the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award.

Oh - and the headline of this post makes me think that Murray has gone deaf. Haha!

I don't want Heatley, btw. I don't think the change up that would be required will be worth it. If we can't afford Kessel, then we definitely can't afford Heatley... The price tag is way too high... and what would we have to give up to get him? I'll pass.

OUTRAGEOUS -

If the Bruins buy out Ward, Ferrence & Sturm they would save $4,933,333. They then trade the rights to Kessel to Colorado for Hejduk or Svatos (take your pick). They then ship Hejduk or Svatos and Savard to Ottawa for Heatley. Revised Bruins roster -

Thomas ($5M)
Rask ($850,000)
Chara ($7.5M)
Wideman ($3.875M)
Stuart ($1.5M)
Heatley ($7.5M)
Bergeron ($4.75)
Ryder ($4M)
Wheeler ($875,000)
Kobasew ($2.2M)
Sobotka ($625,000)
Krecji ($3.75M)
Lucic ($850,000)
Thornton ($517,000)
Murray buyout ($1.383M)
Ward buyout ($833,333)
Ference buyout ($466,667)
Sturm buyout ($1,166,667)

Total cap hit = $46,641,667
Estimated cap = $55,000,000

PC therefore has $7,358,333 with which to sign 3 or 4 defensemen (Hunwick is a must) and 3 to 5 forwards (Yelle, Recchi, Bitz)

Yelle, Recchi, Bitz & Hunwick can be had for $4M tops. Hnidy or Montador can be had for $1M. This leaves $2.358333M with which to sign Boychuk ($850,000) and Soderberg, Marchand or Hamill. ($850,000).

At present PC only has $4.925M with which to sign Hunwick & 1 other defensemen and 2 or 3 forwards.

Pick your poison!!

mook, no need to post under anonymous. thats the worst idea i have ever heard. its almost 3.85 million going to buyouts. thats more then krejci makes.

wow thats just a terrible idea, and mook seriously, you dont need to post under anonymous. why people want to change this team so much is beyond me.

we dont need to buy out fherence, ward or sturm, tey all have value and teams will take them, we just might not get to much back in return.

i still say trade sturm, ward and ference for cap room, resign kessel, and then find a big body to play wing with bergy and kobasew. it's that simple.

So, has anybody heard any rumors of what the Bruins might do with free agency or trades? Anything in the Boston papers or rumor sites on the net?

The buyout option is a terrible idea, sorry. Someone would gladly take ward or ference for a pick or prospect. I still feel like they have to move Ward. Ference only makes 1.4 million.

Vince, not much out there on the rumor mill. I'll post any that seem reasonable. Giving you guys a heads up, I'll be out of town on a business trip from the 26th-4th so I won't be able to update during the draft or first few days of free agency. My apologies, hopefully one of the others will do so....
