OT - Guy gets the boot

Sorry had to post it. Guy Carbonneau has been fired as the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens. GM Bob Gainey takes the reins behind the bench. Obviously a desperation move by Gainey whos team is at risk of falling out of the playoff race completely. Only 2 points separate the Canadiens from Carolina, the 9th place team in the East.

I hate the Habs and any bad news about them makes me happy.

Carbonneau is mostly a classy guy (with exceptions, such as when he sent Laraque after Lucic) and he is a good coach. He will find another job soon.

I will miss him berating Kovalev in the press.

Seems like this was a move that should have been made a month ago. I thought they have started to look better, especially after the Dallas game.....Oh well.... I STILL HATE THE HABS !!

Sounds like Lou in NJ is running that team!!! This reminds me of when MOC went behind the bench a few years back. Habs will be 1 and done if they qualify!!!

dont count them out just yet guys. remember back in 03-04 when the boys lost to the habs 3-4 in the series when they were ranked 7 and the B's were 2. deja vu? historically this team is the one who can do it if anyone.

bob gainey taking over? who is this guy...lou lamoriello?

quick! hire carbonneau as julien's assistant.

not for anything, but i think gainey is as much to blame as carbs. trading huet for a bag of pucks and placing all pressure on carey "i just want to get stoned" price. anyone see those pics being emailed around of the habs drinking and smoking? i have them in my email...if i could figure-out how to post them i would.
also the inability to bring any big names to montreal and settling for 2nd tier players (lang, tangay, etc)

What a shit performance that was tonight !! The B's looked tired and had no jump at all. As a team there must have been 50 giveaways/turnovers tonight !

Savard must have passed to Columbus 20 times himself ! I see the B's finishing 3rd at this rate !

even when manny doesn't play he still loses the game for the b's. he and his shit mask need to go!

aahhaahahah mook

I missed the game because i was at a practice :( I watch the replay of the game, and as good as this team is, i think the pressure is starting to get to some of these guys.

Give a few of them a turn down in Providence, see if that can't get their engines turning. Let bitzy and hunwick play, those guys play for their minutes dammit

tons of wasted scoring chances was the problem imo. powerplay, odd man rushes, and breakaways. this is sad they cant score one fucking goal. both goalies stood on their heads also.

I know how carrying momentum into the playoffs is a boon for teams, but i have a hard time believing that a teams like columbus (on the bubble) aren't going to wear themselves down just trying to MAKE the playoffs. I still have high expectations for this bruins team, and hopefully they'll pluck those heads out of their collective arse.

agreed, MC. at the end of the day, this is just a slump. the other teams suck...there's no shaking that.

i hope it is just a slump too, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. this is no longer "just a slump" i hate to say. they need to turn it around fast. there are way too many players who have not been playing like they should. kessel, krejci, wheeler, wideman(he is not getting enough attention for his shit play) and even lucic has not played well. nobody has had a great game lately.

Tag Ryder with that as well, we need our goalscorers to put the puck in the net.

i dunno...personally i'd like to see more goals from our top line. savard has been trying only the pretty passes since the allstar game when he had either heatly or AO to bury the passes...plus noone was really playing D.

Slump is over tonight. Bruins never have much trouble beating the Sens and with the Sens also playing last night it will be a 6-2 game. All lines scoring tonight! A new winning streak begins, a 14 gamer.
