Bruins tried for Tkachuk

According to Pierre LeBrun, the Bruins pushed hard for Tkachuk but a deal could not be reached.  Was this after or before we acquired Recchi?  Who knows.  Tkachuk would've been nice but I'm satisfied with Recchi and Montador.

Rumor has it that Tkachuk was pushing to get traded to the Bruins. He would have looked good in Black n Gold. But like you said, Matt.... I like the deals PC made.

Oilers get O'Sullivan and Kotalik for Cole! Pretty high price for Cole.... good job by Lowe!

Went down like this....

Carolina sends Justin Williams to the Kings for Patrick O'Sullivan and a 2nd round pick. The Hurricanes then flip O'Sullivan and the pick to the Oilers for Cole. The Oilers then send the pick to Buffalo for Kotalik!

Toronto also grabs Kolzig, Heward and Rogers from the Lightning for Petiot. Sounds like a few goalies in Toronto. Gerber, Toskala, Joseph, Kolzig and Pogge? What is Burke thinking?

Im glad no Pronger and giving away so much to get him.

I like Montador.

I feel a little overpayment on Rechhi. Perhaps Lashoff and a 7th round pick in lieu of Karsums.

If you break down the trade to Tampa it doesn't sound as bad. Recchi for Karsums and a 2nd round pick for Lashoff. For some reason doesn't sound as bad.

I'm also glad we did not grab Pronger or Kaberle. I did not want to give up too much and add payroll which would force us to be against the cap in signing our guys next year.

I think Montador will fit great. He lead the Ducks in PIMs. I'd rather see him dropping the gloves to stick up for a team mate then Chara. All the way around... it works.

Karsums and Lashoff for rechhi and a second rounder is a steal considering how bad the lightning is and how influential that pick may end up being. Think of the samsonov deal, eventually we acquired lucic through it

really would have been nice to have tkachuk, hometown player, but chia made the right moves, recchi and montador will fit in well.

Tampa's 2nd round pick ought to be a pretty low 2nd rounder. Unless of course they just tear it up next season....somehow, which is possible.

i think these moves today were brilliant, little more depth, little more experience without changing the team too much. I have always liked the way recchi played. 45 points for a 41 year old isnt too shabby. now that the deadline has come and gone the players can relax and get back to winning. Am going to miss the next three games as I am watching my nephew at the worlds in speedskating. looking forward to reading the comments from the next few games. things are looking up.

I know you can't really extrapolate points like this considering he's coming from one team to another, but Recchi has 45 points in 62 games, if he plays all 20 games left (which i can't imagine he wouldn't) that's another 14 points. Now if you ask me, 60 points for a 41 year old considering he played for TB for 62 games. I think he'll have 18 points in the next 20 games... mark my words ;)

If anyone has read the chat transcipt on BostonBruins.com with PC... he said that he spoke to Mark Recchi and he is very excited and will be taking the first flight out tonight. Sounds like he will be a positive impact on the team.
As much as I like Lucic (he is my favorite player on the team.) I think moving him with Bergeron and Kobasew and putting Recchi with Savard and Kessel may work out the best, like Matt said.

EA 94 had one timers for the first time, but Sega 95 was the best...

Dont forget #19 on Quebec!

Nice to see another Bruins fan from NH posting here.

Lets go Merrimack!

I like the moves...Recchi, eventhough older, still effective. On a shitty Tampa team still put up points. I would like to leave Lucic on the 1st line and put Recchi with Bergy and Kobasew. I think Bergy and Recchi will click !

As for Montador....bring some tough, nasty play on the back end.

Let see how this sparks the B's for the final run !

Totally off topic.....anyone know why Toronto picked up Kolzig ??? Isn't he done for the year ?? Seems very dumb....

In short adding Montador brings more toughness to this squad. Losing Nokie does not hurt because we have (in order they will be ready first) Soderberg, Hamill, Marchand, and Colbourne as Centers in the farm system.

Lashoff did not show he had what it takes and losing Karsums does not hurt because we added a 2nd rd pick.

Recchi=Third-Line LW and PP left handed shot that was missing.

MAN I WISH STURM WASN'T HURT.
