Coyotes at Bruins

The newest members of your Boston Bruins will play tonight. Mark Recchi will wear 28 and Steve Montador will wear 23. Shane Hnidy, Matt Hunwick, and Bryon Bitz will all be scratched for tonight's game. Hunwick is expected to be sent back to Providence. Here is the expected lineup:

Lucic-Savard-Kessel
Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
Recchi-Bergeron-Kobasew
Axelsson-Yelle-Thornton

Chara-Ward
Ference-Wideman
Stuart-Montador

It will be interesting to see how the fourth line plays out now. I like Bitz but Axelsson's PK skills are too valuable to have ride on the bench. I have a real bad feeling that Wheeler or Lucic will be in Julien's doghouse soon and we will see Axelsson in the top 9 again.

pekese your a funny shit. that really does look like axelsson. i wouldnt be surprised to see julien "ease lucic back in" and put him on the fourth line and have axe ride shotgun.

We need a combo of Primeau/Mowers/Donovan to be a winner. I'm shock that PC kept Kessel and Krecji on the team; they are defensive liability

Big Dave, you forgot about me. In no time will PJ be back up front and on the powerplay.. mark my words

im making a bold prediction, by the playoffs, pj will be a healthy scratch. his penalty kill skills are not as valuable to this team anymore. there is no doubt that he's a good defensive player, but did anybody else see that savard and yelle were getting more pk time than pj. i also noticed that at the end of the game against philly, julien threw bitz instead of pj out with bergy and kobasew.

we have yelle, savard, bergy, recchi, wheeler, and krejci all able to do pk now. i think we can survive without pj's pk skills. bitz will be back on the fourth line, i can only hope.

my last thing, which i will catch shit for, but i dont care, is that i hope they bring up reich still.

recchi .does. not. belong. on. this. team.

way to go PC. lets get a grandfather instead of a goal scorer. look for the bruins to disapoint in the playsoffs yet again.

stupid trades, stupid lines, this is just retarded. the only cup the bruins are getting this year is the one to fill their beers to drown their sarrows for letting a great season slip away. congrats guys.

this sucks

pekese called it. lucic in the doghouse for the first two periods. blake wheeler for the third. while stone hands plays with bergys line then krejcis line. complete bullshit.

wow that sucked

claude is going to find his job on the line if he does not light a fire under his teams ass. he needs to quite this shit with pj, the guy should not be playing, but pj is not the problem, wheeler krejci and wideman have been fucken invisible out their. they need to step it up.

even though it is not pj's fault, he does not fit in with any line on this team, thats just the truth. maybe if claude starts to fear for his job he will sit pj.

The silver lining that I can see on this is there are still 19 games remaining, or so... and we can still turn it around before the very end of the season. We can do it. You just wait and see.

jeremy reich- 17 goals and 11 assists in providence, he is the captain down their and he can bring energy to this team.

im not saying we should dress him everyday, but he would be great to have back their on the fourth line. he has showed with the p-bruins that he can play, and he has great character, hence him wearing the C.
im with you psands.

SAME OLE, SAME OLE. The Bruins, on a night-after-night basis, do not play a 60 minute game. The passion they had previously, is gone. Noe there are only small segments of the Bruins once evident desire. It could be inexperience, but i think the problem runs deeper than that. At times there appears to be no desire or drive to compete at the level required. They seem to start out ok, but all it takes is a mistake and they lose their confidence. At this rate, I see a 1st round exit for sure. As I see it, they need to play more physical than they have been. They play a lot better when they are physical. If penalties are the result, then so be it. A loss is a loss is a loss no matter what.

relax everyone. it's just a slump.

these matinee games are killing us...throws-off the schedules.

still first in the east. still first in the northeast. once the playoffs start, it's a new season. we'll see all the pretenders (washington, philly, montreal, etc) disappear. calgary will the the western finalist, and bruins from the east. jersey is the only competition...

sharks lost yesterday too. meh, not worried. i trust julien. like burns, julien is automatic playoffs.

Lst year at playoff time, the Bruins were battle-tested. This year they are a weary bunch of over-achievers who sit back, look at their record-to-date, and sincerely believe that they are the superior team based on what they have accomplished. Such complacency breeds a 1st round exit.

I have box seats to the the P Bruins here against the MB Moose on Saturday night. I will be the one proudly wearing my Bruins jersey and chanting "It's Tukka Time"

As for the real Bruins - Well I agree with Mook that it is a slump. Now time for them to get their heads out of the ass and for the coach to get his out of his and start playing and getting ready for the Playoffs!!

Before last night, PJS last point that wasnt scored on the powerplay was jan 19th against st louis. that is just embarassing. thats 19 games without a single point from 5 on 5 play. he has 3 ppp mostly of which he will give the puck to savard and then savard will dish to someone for a goal. this guy needs to go.

First... Claude lost the game last night. Lucic on the 4th line with Recchi playing on the first? Are you serious? PJ should have gone on the checking line and Recchi should have gone with Bergeron. I agree, that PJ needs to be scratched.
What was the need for all the line changes? And then in the 3rd, Wheeler goes down to the 4th line! Jesus.... this makes me realize why he was let go in Montreal and in NJ!! He has a damn love affair with Axelsson! Lines should have been what they were at practice.

Next... the Bruins problem is the LACK of competition. They look at their lead as a cushion. A way to say, "So what if we lose, we are still in first!" Well if they do not start playing harder, tougher hockey.... this may be a one round and out playoffs.
Hard nosed, get your ass dirty, knock someone's block off coming into our zone attitude is what got them here. They need that back. The passing was piss poor last night. The passion was not even there. Kids playing pond hockey show more effort then they did last night.
I still agree with the trades... if they are used the right way. They were beaten by a depleted Phoenix team that should have had their asses handed to them. There is no heart right now. Lucic, Thornton, Kobasew, Yelle, Montador, Chara, Ward, and even Wheeler all need to dip the shoulders and drop some guys on their asses. Make them wonder what happens the next time they come into the Bruin's end. Teams were nervous going in on net early in the year. Boston played mean... but disciplined.... in every game. Now this cushion is a damn safety net!
A fire needs to be lit under this team's ass. 19 games or not... this isn't turned around soon... it speaks volumes of trouble for the team! Get Neely's ass down there in practice..... put him on Lucic, Wheeler, and Kobasew on how to STAND in front of the net! Remember the old commercial with Leach cross checking Neely in the back? Neely saying, "If you can feel it right HERE (points to where Leach is checking him) then you know you are doing it right!" Get down there and show this team what toughness is. I'm sick of the Wheeler commercial saying how great a tradition Boston is, and that Neely here is icing on the cake! Then wear the damn jersey with pride! Get dirty! Drop the gloves and throttle someone that crashes the net after the whistle! Make a statement!!
Sorry for the rant......

Right on BosBrn77. I could not have said it better. I'm fed up with the dead-from-neck -up plays the Bruins are making and even more so with what appears at times to be a qur sara que sara cavalier attitude. They need to get off the pedestal thay have put themselves on & get on with the job

12:54 PM

bosbrn i mostly agree with you except that Kobasew is always checking so I dont understand the shot at him.BUt I do Igree with you on the other stuff

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Not saying he isn't, but more can't hurt! Not to mention, get in front of the net! I'd like to see everyone get involved. Lead by example.
More so a shot at the whole team! Which is what they need, a shot in the ass.

the defensive master in the only bruin on the team who is a minus for the season. he flat out sucks

First... Claude lost the game last night

Suuuure ! he's the one who play fancy and make silly passes. He's not the one who play bad in the neutral zone and giveaway the puck 5 times on the same shift. He's the one who refuse to be dirty and go in the corner, pay the price to win the battle and recover the puck. He's definitely not the one who miss the an empty net by 5 feet..

That was a sorry comment.

Clode, for messing with the lines... and chemistry so much... YES he was the first reason why they lost! Nobody was clicking!

Obviously you missed the rest of my post.... because I never said he was the ONLY reason they lost!

So in all honesty.... that was a sorry response!

some people here will never question the coach. but when their play was so good for so long and now of of a sudden it sucks, its the coaches fault. other teams adjust to his system. however he doesnt adjust to them. he needs to keep things similar but tweak things here and there instead of doing exactly the same thing over and over and over and over again.

9:07 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Coach Julien & his staff definitely need to tweak a thing or two here & there. One thing i noticed is that the opposition is well aware that the Bruins continually reverse the puck coming out of their own end and are now there laying to intercept the puck. The coaching staff need to address that issue pronto - clean breakouts lead to scoring chances. On another note - does anyone know if Lucic is playing with an injury or not? It just appears to me that ever since the Komisarek massacre, he is unusually passive, especially by his standards.

1-0 Bruins over the blackhawks after 1. Great energy, enthusiam, intensity and physical by the Bruins. It's about time. Now the trick is to keep it up for a full 60 minutes. As long as the Bruins continue to play this way with emotion, we'll be all right. They have to play with an edge. I guess we'll see in the 2nd if the Bruins are all talk or all action.

3-1 Bruins after 2. Not bad. It was a bit dicey for a while there in the 2nd. But I believe that the momentum shift to the Hawks was due to penalties. The full effort must, and I stress MUST, continue into the 3rd.

Yes Mook, even PJ looks good today. Great play in taking the body on the PK.

i'm happy with the win, it was a big win. but that was not even close to a complete game.
jack edwards made it sound like the game was Miracle 2.0. it was not that good of a game for the B's

Not pretty - but a win. An improvement over the Phoenix game. The Bruins must now build on this and complete a 60 minute effort against the Rangers tomorrow. A 1 and 1 weekend split is no longer acceptable at this point.

Much better today...for the most part !! First of all, I think Julien did the right thing by scratching Wheeler. He has been struggling and it won't hurt.

It sure seemed to wake up Kessel, who I think played with a lot of HEART and was diving and backchecking to make plays !!

Kessel getting scratched in the play offs seemed to work, so hopefully Wheeler can come back energized.

I sure like the Recchi, Bergy, Kobasew line they really worked hard and had a lot of chances. Big game tomorrow to get a little streak going. Lokk for Wheeler to return !

anybody else really looking forward to seeing sean avery again tomorrow? i hate the guy, and i dont think lucic, or any of the bruins have forgotten what happened earlier in the year in the stars game, and avery's dirty hit on lucic, and play in that game. could get very interesting.
