Sturm will play tonight

Marco Sturm will play tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He missed 11 games due to a neck injury. He will skate on the fourth line with Yelle and Thornton. Tim Thomas is starting in net.

are you serious bruinsfanupnorth? No way in hell should P.J. be taken off of the second line. he is an allstar player on this team who brings so much to the take. he does the little things and should not be on the fourth line. the bruins are better off keeping sturm on the fourth line.

i have been a bruins fan my whole life and pj axelsson is the definition of what it means to be a bruin. no he doesnt score much or fight, but he is a true bruin. hes a loyal player who has contributed so much to this team. it would be a shame to see him on the fourth line. axelsson is so good only the true bruins fan can see it. get a clue about hockey. i cant believe you people talk so much trash about him. he does the little things and without him the bruins would be dead. he deserves to be on the top two lines, powerplay and shootout. if i were to start a team i would start it with pj. you make me want to cry...

Nice pissing match you two, very entertaining. Looks like Sturm will be missing some more time after he went down holding his leg. Word FROM the wise..pick up Krejci on your fantasy teams, I did 2 weeks ago and he's been phenominal!

Definitely pick up Krejci. I grabbed him when he had 15 pts, and he's been unreal.

another win from the boston bruins just because of pj axelsson. look at his stats, 2 assists. he should have been one of the three stars. he did so many little things alst night that contributed to the win. only true bruins fans can see what he brings. bruinsfanupnorth, my point was made with his awesome effort last night.

your right neb his contributions on the fourth line were gold, hes right where he should be not slowing bergeron down on the second line. he is a great defensive player and can be very useful on the 4th line, not taking up space on a scoring line. now quit stalking pj.

Sturmie should absolutely play on the second line with Patrice, and PJ should be playing on the third line where he belongs. Neb, there you go again making statements like "you people" (what do you mean, you people...) and calling people "frontrunners". Shit, as i said before ive been watching the Bruins since you probably were sucking your thumb.

Please if you have been watching hockey for a while, your going to tell me PJ belongs on a second scoring line? He can fill in a spot, and not cause any harm, but facts are facts and PJ is a GREAT 3rd line checking player. He has been for a long time. Find me ONE post dating back 18 months where i say otherwise.

I'm sure since you read everything here Neb, that you can find where I COMPLETELY contradict myself, cant you? No? You cant?

So then shut the fuck up about calling people frontrunners and calling people clueless, once again, you are making yourself a tool here by saying that shit.

You may (or may not) have a better understanding of hockey and foresight than some of the impatient Bruins fans i have found here, but people who jump to conclusions love to post like crazy, and state crazy things. Its not a coincidence. Some people are just shortsighted, as a few here told me i was "stupid and retarded" to say Kessel could outscore either Hossa or Kovie only 6 games in. People here have told me Tim Thomas was ass, and they still think so. But, i dont insult everyone as a general crowd, after one post by one person who may have much to learn. Seriously, not everyone has been watching hockey as long as others so relax, and enjoy the goddamn team.

In my opinion PJ is where he should be. Everyone is where they should be. PC and the coaching staff know what they are doing or they wouldn't be coaching. Before the year had started eveyone wanted to trade Kessel and get rid of Thomas, well they kept them and look at what they are doing. I know it is great to be an armchair GM and speculate on how to improve our team. Hell, I do it all the time. But I am not the GM, PC is. PJ is a Bruin and although he is getting older and slower, he is still a vital part of our club.

People were say to pick up Sundin and Avery. Neither would help the team, they would actually harm the team. Avery, nuff said, the guy is a cancer. Sure he can play, but on ice is only a part of it. They need chemistry in the locker room as well. Sundin, granted he is a star player (on a bad team like TO), but in my mind (my opinion only) I don't think he fits in with the Bruin thinking. As for Thomas, sure he looks bad and out of position. But who cares how you look as long as you keep the puck out of the net. This ain't a beauty contest.

This is just my 2cents.

Well it would be difficult to agree with you Vince that Tim Thomas has looked "Bad, and out of position".

Out of position would mean the puck would be in the net a whole lot more so that does not make any sense.

When you say "bad", I think you mean "unorthodox", becuase Tim Thomas IS in control of what he is doing.

And what is he doing? As you mentioned stopping the puck.

I think that when someone mentioned Avery on the Bruins, it was intended as a joke.

...and to mine and MANY other Bruins fans who appreciate PC building a team, NEVER wanted to trade Kessel for Hossa.

But otherwise, i agree Vince.

that's like saying hnidy just blew another chance...we dont have these guys to score.

if you dont think pj plays well defensively then go watch baseball.

"but why have him on the second line?"

It's funny how the Bruins are still winning, they're absolutely tearing it up right now, and there still are "fans" finding something to complain about. Get over it. Axelsson is fine. He hustled his ass off to get to that puck with 5 seconds left to set up the empty net goal when he could have easily just played back and let the clock run out. He's a good teammate. They're all playing like good teammates.

find something else to bitch about. your team is winning.

I just hate seeing him on the second line. If they just kept him on the fourth line and gave someone else a chance, I don't think fans would be complaining about him. He's good at what he does on the 4th line but he does screw up a lot of potential offensive drives with his lack of offensive skills. Why not give a young offensively skilled kid from Providence a chance.

Get ready for another wave of youth called up. Or possibly a trade by Chiarelli.

Anyone find it ironic Bergeron gets hurt right after Sundin finally signs?

Anyone seen Zach Hamill play at all in P-Town?

with patrice injured it means the we will see more of everyone's favorite left wing. expect more powerplay time and a second line of axelsson-yelle-kobasew. yikes.

if the bruins win 9 out of every 10 games with axelsson on the second line, then i'm buying a PJ jersey.

Just out of curiosity, would anyone here trade Marc Savard for Joe Thornton? At the moment, I would have to say NO. It's easy to say now that Joe Thornton for Sturm, Kobasew and Ference sounds okay...but the fact we signed (for relatively cheap too) Savard to a long-term deal makes me hate less.

I see everything coming together now...Bruins will take the cup soon. Before 2010.

interesting question. As much as I like Joe Thornton, I wouldnt give up savard. He has that leadership quality the Bs neee. Besides why make major changes to something that is working great. Thornton has alwayw had that potential quality but hasn't led anyone to the Cu[p. Neither has Savard but the Bs are playing great. I would only add to this team if it could be done without deleting major from the current roster.

This is so lame. All summer we heard that there was no new posts because news on the team was slow. Now the team is 2nd place in the league, tearing it up and looking nasty doing it and still there is no new posts. Patrice Bergeron goes down with what looks like another concussion, and still no news. Oh yea, and Sturm is NOT playing tonight because there is no game tonight and because he is back on the IR with a leg injury.

Unacceptable.

I would like to say;

1. Merry Christmas
2. I would NOT trade Savard for Joe T.
3. Matt, its up to you to post new news. Pekese blogs sporadically, and who and what the FUCK are JHA, Ryan W and Walshie doing? Not one to complain and I never have; but christ on a crooked crutch...there is alot to talk about this season!

That being said; I hope you all have enjoyed this incredible season of hockey thus far.

Go Bruins, merry xmas.

merry christmas everyone, I am so pissed i didnt get to see the New Jersey game and have already told my kids about the upcoming bruins games just so there is no confusion on who gets the TV ha ha. My New Years wish for the Bs is a return to health of Bergeron. I think the Bs need this kid. Also would like to see Sturm and the others Ward and Ference back. This has been such a great season to date. Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year.

Merry Christmas to all those who bleed black & gold.

I agree whole-heartedly with you Jefe77 that we need more than sporadic blogs from our contributors. Our team is doing its job and as starved B's fans we crave for this medium to not only vent our frustrations, but to sing the B's praises and offer our 2 cents worth.

The new year holds so much promise for our young B's and its fans & I would like to see the team regain its health with respect to Bergeron, Sturm, Ward & Ferrence.

I believe that the B's can go deep & possibly win it all this year.

In the East I only fear Philly the Pens & the Habs. Philly really scares me but without consistent goaltending they can be had. The Pens have Malkin & Crosby, however after that there is a significant drop off. The Habs are a pain in the ass. They just won't go away. I fear them since I have seen this story before. I have been supporting the Bruins since 1966 and the Habs are the pimple on the B's arse. No matter what their record they rise to the occasion.

The B's must be humble in beating the Canadiens - Do not rejoice in the victory over the bastards since the bitch that bore them is constantly in heat.

A lot of people sat the West is better. However, I think it will come down to the Wings and the Sharks. That will be a tough series and the winner could quite possibly be beat up when they run into our buzz-saw B's.

On a unrelated subject - has anyone heard the rumour that Shanahan is interested in the B's? Just a thought, but if Bergeron can't go & if Shanny can be had at a relatively cheap price it would fill the void and increase our depth & experience.

All the best!!!

I think this site needs to let some of the people who are constantly commenting, even those who post "unique" views, need to be allowed to be contributors. I understand that the "partners" of this site probably want to keep things small, but if they want to keep this site alive they need to get some new blood. It is irritating to read about the problems in this blog instead of what is new with the bruins. This should be a place where bruins fans can come and comment on news, trades, and rumors, lately it seems everyone is excited about the team except for the contributors. This is just a suggestion from a reader and can be taken with a grain of salt. I check the site a few times a week looking to read up on the Bruins and see what other people are posting.

I just came across this on Spector's website:

Written by Lyle Richardson
Sunday, 21 December 2008 11:14

About a month ago Eklund posted a list of 25 players he suggested were most likely to be dealt during the course of the 2008-09 season.

The list was as follows:

Marian Gaborik, Jay Bouwmeester, Ilya Kovalchuk, Nik Antropov, Keith Tkachuk, Brian Gionta, Andy McDonald, Erik Cole, Marc Savard, Bill Guerin, John Madden, Jere Lehtinen, Martin Havlat, Brandon Dubinsky, Richard Zednik, Mike Modano, Mattias Ohlund, Cory Murphy, Derek Morris, Greg de Vries, Mathieu Schneider, Tuomo Ruutu, Petr Prucha, Alexander Radulov.

Why is Eklund convinced Savard will be traded? The Bruins are playing great, he's a key member of that team and he's under contract at a reasonable price for another season...

I know it's Eklund, but come on.
