Bruins working on Thomas extension

According to the Edmonton Journal, the Bruins are working on a contract extension with Tim Thomas.

Not a bad idea at all.  Considering we know how Thomas plays, it is a better idea to lock him up to a 2 year extension rather than sign some who knows what and have Rask and an unknown.  Thomas and Rask is the obvious tandem next season.  I say 2 years 6 million as a reasonable deal.

that would be a steal. let them resign axelsson while theyre at it. 4 years 40 million sound good? i know all you pj lovers out there think he deserves more. especially since he has zero goals on the season. yes zero not 30. his "defensive genuis" has led to 3 goals in the past 3 games on brain fart turnovers.

Rask must have had something wrong with him because he has not looked good this season in Providence. I'm not an NHL player but it looks like he would be picked off as much as Hannu.

Just noticed that not only do the Bruins have the most goals for in the Eastern Conference...they also have the least goals against. Keep up the good work and keep the All-star Timmy around for a few more years. =)

Thomas has played great for three seasons now - he is not a flash in the pan - need to sign him long term. Get this done and start on making a move for either Bouwmeester or Kovelchuk, hopefully both. Get these two guys and bring the cup home.
Fernandez - Sturm - Axleson - Wheeler are worth 13 mil plus the 1.6 mil available for a total of 15 million - That is enough to get both guys

I believe that it is imperative that the B's sign Thomas before year end. My only concern is that the B's management will take the cheap way out & try to low-ball Timmy. I sincerely hope not - he is the #1 reason the B's are where they are now and the reason why they have been so competitive since he arrived. He deserves NOT to be low-balled.

I don't know about Bouwmeester or Kovalchuk. I suspect that Bouwmeester would like to play in the west - I believe he is from Alberta. That being said, I'm sure that Edmonton will certainly offer big $'s for his services. Kovalchuk would be a nice pick-up - provided he gets with the B's program and plays defensively as well. I don't think Coach Julien would be impressed if Kovalchuk ignores the defensive side of his duties. But who knows - Savvy has learned how to play both sides & I believe he and the B's are better for it.

Given Thomas' play this season, I suspect that $4 or $5M per year is reasonable.

The signing of Thomas must be PC's top priority followed by that of Kessel & Krecji whose contracts are also up this year & both will be subject to offer sheets from other clubs.

Does anyone like the third jersey?

I think it is a huge improvement over the previous 'fozzy bear' 3rd jersey.

i haven't seen the 3rds on a player but to mee it looks like a long sleeve t-shirt, Havhater is right better than the other ones but not as good as the home jerseys

Much better than the Winnie the Pooh sweater - The bruins sweaters are classic, I am biased but they always have been the best in the league - It seems most other teams are copying expecially on the third jersy. As much as it pains me I have to admit the third jersy for Montreal is pretty cool.

Don't know why the habs fans are pissed at O'Byrne for shooting the puck in the net - if Price was in net the puck would have likely went five hole for a goal anyways.

In all seriousness is Kovalchuk a serious consideration or is this a juicy rumour developed by the armchair GM ? If this was for real i would be super pumped...Kovalchuk plays with alot of heart and i bet he would be very willing to play on the rightside of Savard again!
