Bruins rise to number 3 on TSN Power Rankings

Bruins now number 3 in the NHL according to TSN's power rankings.  The Sharks are ranked number 1, Chicago 2.  The Habs are ranked 5 with Buffalo 4.

I think it can be said that the Northeast Division is one if not the toughest division in the NHL.  With Buffalo, Boston and Montreal potential playoff teams, and Ottawa is no slouch either.  Toronto is rebuilding, but they are a pesky team.

Also to note, Tim Thomas is the 2nd best player in the NHL according to TSN's player rankings.  Savard is number 17.

ESPN as well. look at the bruins roster, they have all the lefties listed as righties and vice versa.

Being at or near the top at this time of the year, be it player or the team, isn't worth squat at year end. The final result is all that matters.

The B's must not pay attention to their press clippings. For to puff out like a pigeon will be detrimental to their overall success. They must continue to improve and be consistent from game to game.

Having said that, I believe that this week can be a 'statement' week for the B's - Chicago (young & full of piss and vinegar like the B's), Les Habnots (say no more) & the Rangers (they think there good as they lead the standings, however they have played more games). GO BRUINS!!!

i think the bruins should enjoy what they've done so far. they are playing like an inspired team and confidence can only help. just as long as they dont get over confident, but i dont see that happening with this team after the toronto loss...lesson learned.

i'm predicting a big week again...time to get some revenge on huet (i hope chicago starts him).

trade: axelsson and krejci for datsyuk.

I would like to add to Mooks arguement; They should enjoy what they have accomplised so far this season, and not take it for granted.

Its only a good thing to take early points; last season it looked like it was coming down to the wire near the end. The Bruins knew they blew some games early in the season, and while they were looking good for many stretches, get what you can when you can. It only helps in the end.

So maybe they dont win the division come seasons end; but they are putting themselves in position to dictate where they may end up by playing well early. There is a much greater chance for finishing in the top 4.

They do need to keep thier focus, and not worry about external distractions, but remember they were also predicted to finish 10th in the East. This group has pride, a sense of team and its motivated to prove pundits wrong. Again.

Cant wait for the Habs on Thursday. Hawks are goin' down too.

Go Bruins.

another ridiculous trade proposal from mook. krejci and axelsson for datsyuk. what are you smoking ??? no wants axelsson in the first place. he wouldnt get claimed if the Bruins put him on waivers. 2nd krejci would have to be included with atleast 2 prospects and draft picks.

9:46 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wishful thinking.

axelsson is more coveted than you think. remember when there were rumours about him being traded 2 or 3 years ago and everyone freaked saying shyt like "don't trade him, he's the heart of the burins, great work ethic etc etc"???

are you telling me half the teams in the league wouldn't want this guy? here are some that would take him in a heartbeat:
toronto
detroit
carolina
minnesota
montreal (yep, would fit great with kostopolous or the kostitsyns)
LA
colombus (they would take me, though)
tampa (see colombus)
and any other team with a shit PK (like boston).

so what are we waiting for?!?! trade him for a gunner! swap for some contract-year garbage!

You're not going to get Datsyuk for Axe and Krejci. You don't think that there's 28 other teams in the league that have more to offer up than that?

ottawa offered vermette for axelsson straight up two years. big mistake the bruins ever made.

Why are people trying to hang Axe out to dry - if you where any fan over the past few years and watched most of the bruin games you would realize how important he is to the team. Check out the bruins wins and losses when he did not play. His salary is under 2 mil - that would not get you any better player. Ryder - Fernandez make over double. Unless Axe is packaged up for a elite player getting rid of him would be a big mistake - Getting Datsyuk off Detroit, what are you guys smoking - it will never happen. Idiots.

i wasn't serious about datsyuk, gees you guys are fucken retarded.

some asshole in 2005:
"no way joe thornton can get traded, he just signed a contract extension with boston"

trade: axelsson for gretzky.

anonymous: "gretzky? isn't he retired? mook is such an ass..what is he smoking? no way they would take axelsson, we would have to throw-in two or three prospects (like krejci)"

FYI:
Datsyuk GP14 G4 A10 PTS14 +4 $7mil
Axelsson GP11 G0 A5 PTS5 +0 $2mil

and don't tell me datsyuk plays on the PK or plays with shitty linemates...the grass is always greener isn't it?!?!

and no, i'm not saying i'd rather have pj. i'm just saying you stat gobblers may as well gobble something else.

I was pissed when Thornton got traded but in hindsight it may not have been that bad - It looks like he will not lead any team to the cup. We may well of still had Thornton - Knuble and whoever the third guy was still being our number one line. I will take our current line up over any team over the past ten seasons - except for Neely - It is too bad Neely could not play with this line up - the other teams would have been pounded to a pulp.

I know these B's can over come this because the schedule has been demanding thus far but why did they schedule a game at 8:30 instead of 8 and then have a 1/2 hour retirement ceremony when we gotta play the following night in Boston. Of course the games to a shootout.

Go Bruins beat the Habs!

Lucic fuckin murdered Komisarek...now that was a game to remember.

6 goals on the dirty dirty dirty habs? Ho-ly shit that was sweet.

Good to see Thornton and Yelle getting on the board lastnight, they deserve some recognition for what they've been doing for this team all year long.

I don't care what people say, Ryder and Bergeron are looking good and playing real hard. The goals are going to come real soon for the both of them.

This win was better than the Dallas game. Lucic's fight was the beat down of the season, and that was the Habs we just beat the piss out of lastnight, not a struggling Dallas team.

Lucic beating down Komisarek was the epitome of what Lucic does to Komisarek every single time they're on the ice together. Where was Georges Laraque last night to "police" Milan Lucic? The Habs got him to protect Komisarek because of how much Lucic throws him off of his game. If I was Komisarek I'd be looking to sign a deal to play with whatever team Milan Lucic plays for, otherwise he's not going to be able to do his job very well. Good job Milan keep up the hard work!

Who really cares about the all star game - all it does is not allow real hockey to be played for a few days. The game is a joke and I would think most players are happy not to be going.
I would watch if Lucic - Chara and Thornton could go to Montreal beat up on the jerkoff hab players.

i like the skills competition over the actual game.

I can agree with that -

They should can the game unless they could find a reason for the guys to try to win - maybe the winning team could pick 5 players from the Montreal Canadians and send them to any planet they chose.

Look at all the new names posting on the site. Is that a bandwagon I see on the horizon? JK It's nice to see that everybody is getting interested in this team, they're a pretty good bunch of guys. They have a big week coming up with Eastern conference teams, but I like their chances with the way they've been playing, and Timmy and Manny at the top of their game. Anybody hear anything on Ference's injury???
