Bruins clip the Red Wings
A 4-1 win over the defending Stanley Cup champs.
This was a real test to the Bruins. Had they lost, many would say we are not yet with the elite teams, but we showed otherwise. The thing about Detroit was you could REALLY tell how well they played their system. Few turnovers, lots of possession, explosive offense. Fernandez played well while TT battled an illness.
The thing I loved most was how explosive OUR offense was. We were getting killed in the 1st, and on our first shot, we scored. That is what legit teams do.
Compared to last season, I remember saying, "if we can just bury our chances, we would win so many more games." Well, this season, we are burying our chances.
P.S. Marian who? The guy was a no-show tonight while Kessel lit the lamp...again.

Another great game by the B's and another solid performance by Manny. These new jersey's are sick, the B's look intimidating in the things. The Big Bad Bruins.
I said at the end of Oct. that this was going to be the toughest month for the Bruins, and they did better than anybody could have expected. If they can manage to keep up the intensity through April, then you're looking at the number 1 seed and the possibilities in the playoffs are endless.
Remember that post about Boston not being a legit contender until we have a 40-50 goal a year guy? I think Phil Kessel has stepped up to the role. He is on fire right now. These line combinations are insanely good right now.

That's a very different tune than "aren't they as hot as we are?"
Wings got spanked. dominated. run. Don't come into boston with that "we've drafted all these guys and it took us 20 years of missing the playoffs to put together a few good years" attitude expecting to dominate. bruins are not the isles, kings or avs. thomas/fernandez is the best duo right now...jennings? maybe.

The other day I went to the Providence Bruins and couldn't believe my eyes. Claude Lemieux was playing for SJ Sharks farm team. Didn't really see what his legs are like and he didn't mix it up but passes were very crisp. Imagine him in SJ, makes SJ Detriot games a little bit more interesting.
Like at UNH Conklin slept and let in soft goals. Like Mook!

I hope the B's come out flying tonight and not flat like they were in Buffalo. That being said I'm going to be missing the first half of the game because I'll be out to dinner for my girlfriend's birthday..FUCK..I hope they have the game on at the bar! If not there's always the blackberry, technology is a great thing.

What we all really need to do, other than bleeding black and gold, is get some kind of petition going to send to the NHL about how The Bruins absolutely need to host next year's winter classic at either Fenway or Gilette. Obviously playing the Hab's would be ideal, but they already played in the first outdoor game, so that most likely would be a no. Toronto also would be a good one, but it's doubtful they'd play an outdoor game anywhere other than in toronto. So, maybe a game against Philly, or Ottawa.

I'm not sure why some people figure teams can trade some baggage they either don't want or can't afford with a random prospect and want high end talent in return. Oiler fans do it here, all the time... That Kovalchuk trade is another example. BUT anyways.

As I recall, the last time my Panthers were in the playoffs, they wnet to the finals. And oh yeah - they beat the Bruins in the 1st round.
Can't wait for that opportunity again this year.
