Bruins beat down Stars 5-1

First off great job by Pekese tonight doing a livetype blog.

The Bruins derailed the Stars 5-1 in an old fashion ass whooping.  This game could be a turning point in the season for the Bruins.  Let's see if the momentum from this game can continue.

Let me first start off with this. Steve Ott is a dirty bitchy player.  Sean Avery is just a bitch.  While I think Avery is an ass, and is annoying and cheap at times, he is willing to drop the gloves, which he did tonight.  Ott on the other hand, would not.  He also went for the knees multiple times of players including Lucic and Yelle.  Did anyone get pumped after Ference destroyed him at mid ice? I love how Hnidy started ripping on that guy when Lucic went down after the Avery hit.  It would not surprise me to see Ott suspended for a few games for his antics.

Marco Sturm got off the scoring quickly with a one timer from the slot, getting his mojo back.  Avery then tied it up later in the 1st with a knuckler.  Bergeron scored in the 2nd on 4 on 4 play by stealing the puck behind the net and had Turco looking the wrong way and tucked it in on the wrap around.  By the way, Turco played amazing tonight, some great saves.  The 2nd period the Bruins were behind the 8-ball with tones of penalties, but instead killed off all of them including a 5 v 3 and took the momentum.  In the 3rd, Kessel scored a sick goal by dangling the D and ripping off his patented wrister 5 hole through Turco.  Stuart then scored on a 3 on 2 with a high wrister and Sturm capped it off with a tic tac toe pass on the PP from Axelsson.

This had to be my 2nd favorite game since the lockout with game 6 being number 1.  Great old school game.

all you who say that fighting does not serve a purpose in hockey, and it does not get a team going, fuck off, big win for bruins, great, great game. go bruins

I was in my living room by myself and when ference laid out Ott I got up and yelled like I was on the glass at the game. Wicked pumped up for the rest of season yes this is a turning point.

Yes fighting does serve a purpose when its the defense of a teammate and its the proper people fighting, ie... Ott not Savard. But how bout Savard taking on Avery. Just earned more respect in that locker room and as Jack and Brick said a more closer locker room.

This game was an old fashion beat down in every sense of the word, and just what the B's needed. Hopefully the team can feed off this game in the coming month..it's going to be a tough one, and possibly their most important one of the season.

Toronto x2
Sabres x3
Montreal x2
Chicago
Detroit
Rangers

A winning record this month can go a long way in helping the B's finish toward the top in the East!

want some interesting reading check out the dallas papers this morning. Bruins were great last night. There is no place in the game for gutless ^%#^#^$# like avery and ott. Don Cherry last night, after the leafs game was commenting on Ott, saying parents dont let your kids watch becuase this will make you sick. He was referring to Otts refusal to fight. Great game B's. Now lets take down the leafs.

"Tonight, it was idiotic and stupid," Stars center Mike Modano said. "It was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen. If that's what we're going for, then they need to find me an off-ice job."

Mike Madano is a true hockey player, best American born to ever play the game! He know's what being a pro is about, and Steve Ott is not pro.

did anyone else see thomas leave the crease, and turco go out to the red line, that would have been pretty cool if they decided to go at it. what a great game, i think the bruins will earn lots of respect around boston because of this game. go bruins.

I agree....awesome game !! This could really be a turning point. Ference, who I'm not a big fan of, stepped up huge last night. That will bring a team closer when it is an unlikey guy (Ference) instead of Thornton ! If only Lucic could have got at Avery !!

Ference has been solid all year he leads the team in +/- and he's averaging over 20min/game. I swear people need to start watching these games instead of bitching about how bad we are.

Timmy got ripped off as the 2nd Star of the Week. #1 Star went to Getzlaf, Selanne, and Perry..what kind of horse crap is that??? Then again I guess it's better than them going 1,2,3 and Timmy being left out completely.

glen murray scamming more money now? what a dick. bruins did this jerk a favour by not sending him to the minors and paying him out, now he's trying to screw more money out of them "al iafrate" style? this is the last thing we need right now.

He won't get anything, the article I just read said he was pre-disclosed but unaware of the injury before the buyout took place. If he and medical experts were unaware of the issue during and before the buyout period, then there is not legal responsibility for the Boston Bruins to award him the money.

it makes him look like a huge dick. i like how he told other teams he was healthy, and then when there was no interest he has this condition.

i used to like this guy, now i know better.

The way I understand this he may be doing the bruins a favor - if he goes on long term the bruins could replace money owed to him this year towards the salary cap.
If this is the case there would put the bruins a few mill under the cap which could be used for a trade - I would love to see Kovalchuk hook up with Savard again. - But I may be wrong on how Murray's claim effects the cap.

Article in the Herald this morning: "Could Shanahan be a fit for the Bruins" as of right now we're only 680,000 under the cap so we'll see if this shapes up or not.

it will count against the cap because it has been filed as such. any reversals can only benefit the player (ie money paid out). he isn't appealing whether he should be on the IR or not, only whether he gets 100% or not. it's a pure money scam, and he should f-off.

and another thing...why does tim thomas always get fucked-over? how many goalies on here have a worse records than him? at least 4!!
Martin Biron (sucks), Philadelphia Flyers, Martin Brodeur (hurt), New Jersey Devils, Rick DiPietro (hurt), New York Islanders, Marc-Andre Fleury (sucks), Pittsburgh Penguins, Kari Lehtonen (who?), Atlanta Thrashers, Henrik Lundqvist (ok, fine), New York Rangers, Ryan Miller (sure), Buffalo Sabres, Carey Price (has garth brooks on his mask, so fuck off), Montreal Canadiens, Vesa Toskala (sucks), Toronto Maple Leafs, Tomas Vokoun (sucks), Florida Panthers

Assuming that the B's lose the case with Murray then it is my understanding that the buyout money would have to be returned by Murray & he would get paid as if he was part of team. However, the B's would simply put Murray on long-term injury reserve - meaning that they can exceed the cap without penalty to the tune of Murray's salary. When & if Murray 'decides' that he is healthy, then the B's can buy him out at that time & it would cost them less.

I am no cap expert - but I believe that that is how it would work.

Kick Some Ass !!!! When one line gets shut down another line steps up. Thats awesome !!!! Sports NET reports where one of the front runners for Shanahan. The three other teams are Flyers, Blues, Blackhawks. Shanahan says hes not talking to anymore teams and he will make his decision by the end of next week. He also says he wants to stay close to home...... Fallse Ontario

is it just me or does Bergeron look a little lost - I wonder is he is still hurting - he does not look the same as before the injury.
Hopefully he will get it back together. The kids are playing great - maybe this could bring the end to Sturm - Axe - and Kobesew.
Also Ryer and Fernandez are bench warmers - Lost of options for a blockbuster trade.

Ryder is playing just fine. He is getting himself chances, and will find the net. But in the meantime, he is finishing his checks, and working hard to make plays. Nothing to complain about there.

Also, Sturm is just now turning it on after being called out by Julien, and we have yet to see what Chuck will do this season (besides breaking bones).

Give it up for Tim Thomas, and make sure you enter his name and vote for him to be on the all star team.

Unless some of you are STILL convinced Tim Thomas SUCKS.

When, when will ALL Bruins fans give Thomas the credit he deserves.

On that note; can some of you major Thomas critics explain to me how he has sucked so hard, is such a shitty goalie,.......................yet leads the league in save percentage with a stellar .944, has a 1.85 GAA, has 2 shutouts and has earned points in 7 out of 9 games with 5 wins.

Or is the whole Tim Thomas arguement not an arguement anymore?

You're right about Ryder. Maybe if he wasn't feeling the pressure to score 50 goals this year he could find the back of the net

This team is playing unbelievable. As I said last week Wideman is playing outstanding and is well worth the money we gave him this summer. His #'s are as good as Campbells and he's a lot cheaper. Ference is just solid, the guy is a sprak plug and evev Chara is starting to throw his weight around. So much for our defense being terrible. Offensively we can't ask for much more, we're getting production out of all lines. Having Shanahan's release would be nice but do we really need him? I don't think so. We still need to figure out what to do with the line up when Kobasew is healthy. I still say you sit PJ because that 4th line is playing too good to mess with it, and there is no way I play PJ over Wheeler or anybody else on the roster for that matter.

Shades of old Thomas were seen on Toronto's 2nd goal that Grabowski scored.

That being said Thomas is currently playing the best he has ever played. His lateral movement between the pipes and this new "split" move has really helped him make some saves.

My argument this summer was Timmy plays well when his defense in front of him plays well. THIS IS A TOTAL TEAM EFFORT.

No need to trade right now and wait until Kobasew comes back, and Ryder, Sturm, and Bergeron are back to form offensively.

2:25 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

There is no doubt the team is playing well - there really is no one body to single out. There are too many guys to dress all the time so while the stock is high on all the playes and they are healthy I think PC needs to pick the guys which are going forward and pull the trigger on a deal to bring in one more bonified goal scorer or to go for some first round drafts for next year.
