Sundin wont waive NTC
Mats Sundin will be staying with the Maple Leafs. The Bruins had no desire to acquire him but now that Sundin isn't going anywhere, the teams that were looking to acquire the center will now turn their sites at other targets that the Bruins are also interested in (Hossa, Jokinen).
Here are some comments from him:
"I have carefully considered the team's request that I waive my no-trade clause," Sundin said in a statement. "I have always believed I would finish my career as a Toronto Maple Leaf so the actual request was still a very difficult one for me to contemplate."
"I have spoken to and listened to my family and those closest to me about this issue. In the end, there is no right decision in a situation like this one."
"I cannot leave my teammates and join another NHL Club at this time. I have never believed in the concept of a rental player. It is my belief that winning the Stanley Cup is the greatest thing you can achieve in hockey but for me, in order to appreciate it you have to have been part of the entire journey and that means October through June. I hope everyone will understand and respect my decision."

If Kessel isn't going, as P.C. stated, there is no way Hossa is headed here. It will just be minor tinkering for another year I guess !?!?!
Sundin is not going anywhere: He is not a Bruin and Bruins had no intererst in him, so why is this posted on a site about The Bruins????

THAT'S WHY.

1. Sundin is a hack and I wouldn't want him on my team anyways.
2. I would be shocked if the Bs grab any "top" tier talent at the trade deadline, especially now that they have no intention of trading Kessel, Lucic or Rask (at least I hope not).
I only see minor moves for this team, and rightly so. I am sure they will make a big push in the off season to get some free agents in her providing the cap space is available.
it also drives the priceup for hossa and many other players. bruins may go after fedotenko but even his price has gone up with more teams biddin for less available players.
Great. I can see the Bruins doing nothing and if they make the playoffs going out in the first round (like usual). I say go for Hossa and go for Liles.
just my 2cents.
Bs, even with Hossa and Liles, will not win anything with this young team. S then, why trade away your young talent for a rental?
I say they keep who they have on the current roster and go for either a good second tier scorer for draft picks or prospects and hit the free agent market hard this off season if they can add under the cap.
The Bruins would do best to stand pat this season. See if they can ship Murray and Sheafer off at the draft (doubtful), then sign Hossa on the first of July. They can't afford him with Murray on the payroll, so if they get him at the deadline he would be a rental, and trading Kessel for a rental is just plain stupid.
The Bruins won't trade prospects for Hossa unless they sign him to a extension, like almost all other teams. If you don't trade for Hossa now, he's NOT going to be available July 7 (Which I think is the new starting date for free agency)
I'd trade Lashoff, 1st, 3rd, Schaffer and Karsums for Hossa.
Than I'd move Murray to Edmonton for Stoll
Hamill, 2nd round pick, Sigalet or Hunwick for Suter
Yes, Hossa will not be around to sign in the summer. Don't just trade for him to be a rental, trade and sign him long term.
One question here. What about Manny? I think we have two goalies (and one on the farm) that can handle the job. Is there anything that can be done with Manny? Tampa is looking for a goalie. hmmmmm.
Any thoughts out there?
If TB would be willing to take an injured goalie (which I doubt) I think a straight up trade for Prospal would work for me. Maybe we even throw in a pick or prospect.
I don't think anyone will want Manny. He's overpaid and still injured. Although he may return this season, how effective he could be remains a major question.
trade manny to the kings for some picks!

If Hossa likes playing with Savard and is good friends with Chara and wants to come to Boston as some have suggested, what is to stop him from signing on July 7? The Bruins would have to pay top dollar whether they sign him now or in July, plus they keep their prospects and picks.
