Your Deadline Day

With the trading deadline 2 days away, what would you do if you were PC?  Go home run with Pronger? Or go with a guy like Morris or Leopold?

Here is my ideal day...

Bruins acquire Keith Tkachuk from St. Louis for a 3rd round pick and Denis Reul.

Bruins acquire Tomas Kaberle from the Maple Leafs for Joe Colborne, 1st round pick and Petteri Nokelainen.

Lucic-Savard-Kessel
Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
Tkachuk-Bergeron-Kobasew
Axelsson-Yelle-Thornton

Chara-Kaberle
Wideman-Ward
Ference-Stuart

Thomas

I'd like to see Tkachuk here, but I would not include Reul. Maybe Ostrcil or Goggin. Tkachuk is a rental.

As for Kaberle, two things make me say no to this. One is giving up on Coluburne and two.... his salary will mess with the chances of re-signing Kessel, Krejci and Thomas.

I would like to see....

Tkachuk for a 3rd and Goggin.

Leopold for Hnidy and a 2nd (next year)

Both players are rentals.... and would not count against the cap next year.

A couple points to make with regards to your scenarios. Your giving up virtually 0 dollars and bringing in 8 million in salaries. Where are they going to have the room to bring in Ktachuk and Kaberle?

Also, Colborne, a 1st rounder and Petteri aren't getting it done I'm sorry. Your going to need to go Colborne, Stuart and a 1st rounder. You can't take their best D man and not give them a starting D in return.

Why not go pick up Frolov from the Kings. He's supposedly available for short money and he's a LW that we could use.

I don't think the Blues are moving Keith b/c are there recent surge in the standings.

Trying like heck to not get myself all worked up, for the trade deadline, like last year. (stupid Hossa!)

Would not be surprised if PC says "I love my team again. We're not doing anything."

We need players this year to make a run at it. Not to often you have a season like this one. Look at the Ducks. They win it and 2 years later they're sellers?

Go B's!

ok i said this on the last one but i want to point out ryan malone. st. louis is pseudo on the block and would want to move to a contender. put him and malone in a deal... perfection

and who are you going to package for those 2 guys?

that fourth line is real fucken weak, and that is not nearly enough to get tkachuk, i mean he is a rental but the blues are going to ask for a third and at least a higher end prospect, like sobotka. you guys have to be more realistic in your trade ideas. if tkachuk was on the bruins, would you want to give him up for a third rounder and a D level prospect. be realistic.

I'm with you man. People are ridiculous and St. Louis is in the playoff race so why would they just give him away. I still make the deal w/ a 3rd and Sobotka..I'm sorry but I think it's apparent Sobotka is never going to make it on this team long-term. It's to bad Axelson has a no trade b/c he's a waste of 2 million and he does nothing but take up space on the 3rd line. I dont know how he's pulled the wool over everyones eyes but can we talk about how he led all forward in ice time on Saturday. That's a f'n CRIME

Tkachuk is not worth a 3rd and Sabotka! Not with his age and being an UFA at the end of the year! I would give up Tkachuk if he were on the Bruins and we were selling for a 3rd and a prospect. Heck, we gave up Jurcina for a mid round pick and he is young and still improving. So to be honest... a 3rd and a young prospect should do it.
As for Sobotka.... never going to make it on this team? I see why you stay Anonymous! With Yelle gone at the end of the year, looks like that is a prime spot for Sobotka to step into next year. Thornton, Sobotka and Bitz will be a nice 4th line for us next year!
As for St.Louis from Tampa bay.... we'd have to give too much, and break up the chemistry for him.

Tkachuk, Leopold, or maybe Recchi would be enough of a tweak that should not cost a lot.

Ok tough guy BosBrn77. I'm a Bruins season ticket holder and I am going out on a limb to say I know more than you. Now let me just defend some of the points I made previously that you shot down.

1. Jurcina BLOWS and is a cancer. If he was on the Bruins right now he'd MAYBE be a 6th defensemen but my guess is probably not.
2. Your saying you wouldn't trade a 3rd rd pick and Sobotka for Khatchuk because Sobotka might be on the 4th line next year. Wow so your saying you would rather not have Khatchuk, Berg, Kobasew as your 3rd line for the rest of this year. You can add a similar Sobotka next year to fill in if need be (from providence or via FA). Funny also that Sobotka became a healthy scratch against the Capitals when the B's needed a winger and it was a defensemen who beat him for his spot. Give me a break man, should I continue?
3. Leopold is a joke, I dont know why people are talking about him like he's going to make a difference. I agree that Recchi would be a decent addition but I dont think they are going to make a move for him. I think Frolov, Cole (apparently isn't moving now) Khatchuk or Antropov are your best options up front. They are said to be out of the running as of yesterday but I still think the Pronger thing is pretty realistic as well and would be immense for this team

seriously bosbrn77, you cant be that dumb right. tkachuk is a great player, you have to give up something valuable to get a good, valuable, veteran like tkachuk. yea a third round pick is valuable, but that and a C level prospect wont make the cut. dont ever try to challenge me with this shit. i will start signing my name at every post if it make you feel better, but i know more a lot more about hockey than you do. this i know for a fact.

Guess I ruffled your feathers, Anonymous! And be careful of that limb... it may break!! I'm also a season ticket holder (over 20 years)... but that doesn't mean I'm qualified to be a GM. I'm just making an opinion... which you do not agree with! Great... makes for a great discussion, so long as one side doesn't take it to heart!

1) Glad you think Jurcina blows! Even PC made a mention of trading him and regretting it. If Jurcina was on this team he would definitely play over Hnidy, and most likely be playing over Stuart. Obviously we do not agree on his value... so be it.

2)Yes... I would NOT trade Sobotka for Tkachuk. Not saying I do not want Tkachuk here. I think he would look great playing with Beregeron and Kobasew. What I'm saying IS... I'd rather keep Sobotka, since he knows the system and would be a great fit playing with Thornton and Bitz. Rather then continue filling that spot every year. As for being a healthy scratch... that means what? Nylander was a healthy scratch for the Caps. Maybe Julien wanted to experiment with Hunwick... which worked great.... and now Sobotka can go back down and play everyday.

3)Granted, Leopold is not Pronger or Kaberle. But he is far from a joke and he is a puck moving d-man that is gone at the end of the year. With Pronger or Kaberle, they are signed past this year, and would either have to be traded at the end of the year, or we risk losing Kessel, Krejci or Thomas! Sorry if I am trying to think a little further down the road. I think Recchi would be a great leader down the stretch. I'm not sold on Cole or Antropov at all... but I like your idea of Frolov.

Again... sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Sometimes this board allows for great debates on who we would like to see and who others wouldn't. Bottom line.... neither of us has a say... it is just our own wishes. Regardless... no hard feelings from this end!

Timmy... I understand you have to give up something to get something. But I'm not sold on trading Sobotka... too much grit and potential. Someone else maybe. Ok... so maybe a player from Providence, but I would not give up too much for a player who would be gone at the end of the year.
As for challenging you.... trust me... there is no challenge. Please do not spout off like you know more then anyone else. If you did, you would be working for the Bruins. But you are not! You are here on this board with the rest of us. Hoping and praying the Bruins do something.
But if it makes you fell better that you THINK you know more about hockey then me.... great! Have a nice day!

the best bet for the bruins right now are the following lines:

looch, savy, kessel
wheelz,krejci, rydes
axe,berg,kobe
thor,yelle,bitz

with noki/hunwick/sobotka as insurance

chara wideman
ference ward
stuart hnidy

LEAVE SHIT ALONE!

why do i say those lines? i dont know, maybe becuase this has been the bruins best season since iv been alive and can remember.

if pc really has a hard on for a trade then the only one that makes sence is a lashoff/noki deal with nik antropov. other then that leave things aloneeee..

Ok BosBrn, maybe I came down a bit strong on your last post but I think you are WAY over valuing Sobotka. I thought he was going to be a staple in this lineup after the playoffs last year where he was a big help. He's been a dissapointment since then. They keep calling him up, putting him in games, and then sending him back down. He could easily be in the starting lineup this season but he can't get the job done and that's why Bitz is there now. He's gritty and he grinds, I just believe he's a B/C prospect and if you could get Keith for him and a 3rd round pick, you do that in a heartbeat. Keep in mind, we still have Petteri, St. Pierre, Karsums, Hamil, Colborne (for now) waiting in the wings. I don't think he'd be a big loss but that's your opinion.

I'm going to get killed for what I'm about to say but I'm starting to think the Lucic aura is starting to fade. This guy really shouldn't be on a first line and I'm hoping that changes by next year. I think he's perfect on a banging/checking line doing what he does best. He's got hands like feet and can't finish most of the time. I'd love to get Savard and Kess another big name scorer because I think that would make their line one of the best in the NHL.

My last point is random but has anyone thought Kessel should think about switching wings. Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, and Hossa come to mind right off the bat as wings who play on the opposite wing as their shot and it seems to me that Kessel is having a bear of a time trying to cut back in to get his shot off. It may be a good move for him. Just a thought

4:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I may be over valuing him... but I like him. He is a Black n Gold guy, and I think it has been more Bitz has outplayed him. I agree 100% that we have some great guys coming up. I really like the way the Bruins have drafted over the past few years, and would hate to give much up. Not sure why... but for some reason, I think Sobotka will be great if he is given the chance..... like next year when we need a 4th line center.

Honestly... about Lucic, I cringed when you said that! BUT.... I agree he has not been playing how he should. I'd like to see Neely put his boot in his ass and get him playing like he was at the beginning of the year. To be honest... if we luck out and get Tkachuk or even Frolov, why not put them with Savard and Kessel and put Lucic with Bergeron and Kobasew?
I have thought the same thing regarding Kessel. He is a scorer, so he should be on the wing, but he is a natural center, which helps if his line mate is thrown out of the circle. I think a change of scenery on the other wing could light a spark!
As for you coming down strong.... it's all good! No hard feelings man!

Milan Lucic is 20 years old. He's got decent hands, hits like a wildman, and can fight light-heavyweights.

They guy goes on a slump and it's the end of the universe. Be patient.

He's a good compliment to Savard and Kessel's playing styles. I'm just not sure if he's been right since the first time he was out because of an injury.

Trade Kobasew to the Preds for Hamhuis. Trade Stuart to the Oilers for Cole.

Lucic-Savard-Kessel

Cole-Bergeron-Axelsson
Bitz-Yelle-Thornto

Chara-Ward
Wideman-Hamhuis
Hunwick-Ference
Hnidy

trading kobasew, to get cole defeats the hole purpse, they want to make that a scoring line, keeping axe on that line does not make it a scoring line. trading stuart would be a mistake.

psands... I never even acted like I was a know it all. I only gave my opinion! I'm not the one that came out saying I know more then this one or that one. I'm a fan.... life long fan at that! I'm no GM.... and all I'm doing is the same thing everyone else on here is doing.... giving an opinion. As for the name calling, leave that to Timmy... he seems perfect at that! And as for acting tough.... I never did.... I'm here to talk with other Bruins' fans.
But if i came across that way... I apologize.

as for da wreck... i agree we need to be patient with Lucic. He is by far my favorite player on the team. But for some reason he is not playing as "mean" as he was earlier in the year. Do I want to give up on him... NO! But I think Neely needs to show him the light! LOL

Tim... you started this with all the cussing like a child! Then threatening to fight me. Maybe 20 years ago when i was still in high school, I would have set a time and date.... but not now. Take this how i say it, because I do not mean it disrespectful... but you and anyone else is not worth it.
You were the one cutting down Matt when he said he was back. But funny thing is, nobody knew it was you until I pissed you off by saying... "I like how Anonymous people throw stones." So for saying that you got all worked up? Wow, guess that equals what you said to me, huh? Go back and read it, Tim. YOU were the first one to be a dick!
And you are right, being a dick when we are on a blog IS stupid! But practice what you preach first. If I remember correctly, Matt is the one who created this site. So he was busy with other stuff. And YOU had to be a DICK and start name calling when he came back.
Bottom line... we are on a blog. To talk about a team we both like. We may not agree with each others beliefs, but that is the great part of a debate. I still think you need to grow up or get anger management if you are going to threaten to fight someone.... on a blog! Stop and think about it, Tim.... you were the one acting like a child.... not me.
You want to bury the hatchet and leave the water under the bridge... great! I have no problem having another Bruins' fan as a friend. You want to jump off the deep end again, then we can just ignore each other. It is up to you, man!

Keith Tkachuk is poison! Another player with a bad attitude and a record of success that leaves something to be desired.
Those of you who would like to see him here are crazy and simply fans. If any of you had ever played this game at a qualified level... and I don't mean High School... then you would understand that a career selfish player like Tkachuk is the exact opposite type of player that this team needs or even wants going into the trade deadline.

By the way, can we please stop falling in love with the local guys... it didn't work with Kevin Stevens or Bill Guerin, why would it suddenly work with Keith Tkachuk?
