Blues at Bruins 1/19/08

Old friend Brad Boyes will be back in the Garden for today's matinee game against the Blues. Boyes leads St. Louis with 20 goals and 36 points this season after netting 43 goals last season. Looking back on the Wideman-Boyes swap, I still like how the Bruins made out in this deal, despite the big numbers Boyes has been putting up.

Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron, Andrew Ference, and Aaron Ward will all most likely miss the next two games, giving them that time plus the all-star break to fully heal. Lucic is the closest to returning, with Bergeron the furthest away from game time action.

The offense has looked awful lately hopefully playing the last place team in the Western Conference helps kick start it today. The Blues rank 28th in goals allowed this season.

I really like the Stuart and Chara pairing. It can only make Stuart a better overall player by giving him confidence from playing with Chara.

Axelsson-Savard-Kobasew
Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
Nokelainen-Yelle-Thornton
Sobotka-St. Pierre-Bitz

Stuart-Chara
Lashoff-Wideman
Hunwick-Hnidy

Nope, not worried about our offense at all. Not worried about our D either. Sorry, but when you are having problems with the worst teams in the league you have to step back and look at your game. When everyone gets back it might be different.

It's quite an eye-opener to me that at this point in the season the B's still do not have the killer instinct.

I know we are shorthanded due to injuries but there is still no excuse for losing the way we did today - none whatsoever. Head-in-your-ass play if you ask me.

The B's may be 11 points ahead of the Habs, however that is now down to 7 assuming they win their games in hand. This is an assumption that we must take as a given and the B's game against TO on Wednesday has to be a must for the B's.

If Cory Murphy was available on waivers, why didn't Boston take a stab at him? I realize that Tampa was definitely ahead of them in the claim order, but when did he go on the waiver wire?

Also: on thefourthperiod.com

Bruins could go after Tkachuk

With Marco Sturm on the long-term injury list, the Edmonton Journal suggests the team could replace him by the March 4 trade deadline.

According to the Journal, Sturm will save the Bruins his $3.5 million salary, which they can use towards acquiring another player.

The paper suggests the Bruins could go after St. Louis Blues veteran Keith Tkachuk, who grew up in Massachusetts.

Not happening. The Bruins supposedly are looking for another d-man. They should push for Brent Burns. Yeah, pipe dream.

The Bruins will crush the leafs on wednesday. I just scored some tickets and i'm pretty happy!

Hey, isn't "high sticking" marked by the crossbar? Not to be one of those guys who complains about crap like this, but that tying goal vs st.louis definitely was above that.

win 10, lose 2, win 4, lose 2

i'll take that pattern. all these assholes now come out of the woodwork and say the bruins suck, and their true colours are showing. What assholes, they wish they could call a 2-game losing streak a "skid" and not a regular occurence.

Hab's fans are idiots. They voted in 4 all-stars. awesome. The Bruins had 3 guys SELECTED to play. Krejci, Kessel and Wideman all would have been there if they played somewhere else...

OLE. fags.

i'm actually excited about the skills competition on saturday...but i'm sure i'll be let-down as usual.

they should make goalies take penalty shots, have a fastest skater sprint (from goal line to opposite blue line) and some kind of ref-bashing event. the game on sunday will be a joke...i won't be watching. plus all those dumbass habs fans will chant all the way through.

You are pretty positive - I will be happy if they just win. Toronto either plays really well or outright suck. Living 30 minutes from toronto I would be more than happy to have them get beaten to a pulp by the bruins - but I have noticed not many yappy leaf fans around lately.. I just cringe when the leafs beat the bruins around here - jerks here plan the stanley cup parade if the leafs win one game in a row.

"a must win" tonight in toronto? its january 21st and the bruins are way out in first with half their lineup out. don't give me that "must win" bullshit right now.

who said "must win"?

we're saying since we live in toronto (or in the surrounding area) the bruins MUST beat the leafs, or we're subjected to "leafs nation". If you are referring to sportswriters saying this is a "must win" game for boston, they I agree that they can fuck off.

Thanks Mook for your response to Bennyjerk - I never said in the previous post it is a must win. You are absolutly right about the pain we have when the bruins loose to the leafs - the only thing worse is loosing to the piece of shit habs. Living in leaf nation is a pain, I have been having to listen to thier crap all my life. I do post regularly under anonymous only because for some reason I can not log in as an identity - must be some sort of firewall here at work. By the previous response it is easy to see who truely bleeds black and gold.
