Proposed Bruins Trade:

Chara for Brad Richards

Salaries match-up, you need offense, can go out and pick-up a stay at home defenseman....would be tough now that Ward is out...but....you have some depth at this position...and you wouldn't need to give up as much to get an above average defenseman vs. getting a impact forward.

Thoughts?

Depth at what position...D?? Are you kidding me, that is what this team needs even if everyone is healthy ! Wideman needs to play 15 minutes, not 25 !! The Bruins looked terrible today....can you say "Shake Up !" I hope P.C. does something before this team wastes a great start !

Bruins need to do something quick. If they lose to carolina after the break ill give them 2 more games before chia starts a shake up

Yes...they have depth...Alberts will be back after the break...Lashoff should be getting regular minutes...your tellig me that you don't mind paying a guy $7.5 a year for sub-par performance...the guy is a +1...and looks horrible coming out of his own end...The Bruins over spent for Chara, which I know they needed too..but it's time to cut our losses....

Hate to bring up the past...but I still can't believe how little the Bruins got for Joey T...

I think Chara is great trade bait!! You could get a good d-man and another good forward for what the team pays Chara!! besides he can't stick handle for shi!!!

what makes you think that other teams are looking for an overpaid defenceman who is underachieving? I think the bruins made a huge mistake putting the C on his chest before he played a game for them. What they need is a solid offensive defenceman to take the load off chara, so he can concentrate on what got him his big contract - playing like he did in ottawa behind wade redden.

If you can bring Chara's minute down, you'll raie his level of play. The more nights he's asked to log 33 minutes +, the slower he is, the more he needs to clutch, grab and take dumb penalties. Ward was good enough just to take a bit of pressue off of Chara. And Ference is always up and down, so I don't know if that will fit. Wideman is getting more ice time because he has earned it - bu we cannot ask him for 30 minutes + per game. So who do we try to get? Some notable pickups can be Gonchar or Sydor for Pittsburgh (again just to take minutes off of Chara), Bergeron from the Islanders, Bauchemin from Anaheim? Remember you have to give something of value to get something of value. So if you want a Gonchar-type defenceman, they would want something in return like Murray, Axelsson, Savard (what?), Kessel, etc. If Manny was not injured they could have traded Manny for Gonchar. Chia has to do something and will do something, Hunwick and Lashoff are not the answer for this team right now.

Cheechoo has been struggling and could be a good fit with Savy. JC needs a good playmaker Center and JT hasn't been that this year, so we may see him moved... Also I wouldn't bet against the Caps listening to offers for Ovechkin. If you land these 2 i think our line is better than the trio in ottawa and calgary and whatever other team that has a top 3 line....

Ottawa- Heatley Spezza Alfredson
Calgary- Iginla Langkow Tanguay No IDEA HOW THEY ARE BUT Ottawa's line is decent.

BUT... Cheechoo Savy Ove is a whole lot better even better than ATL Illya Hossa(don't rule him out either) and some Center....

Char and Kessel for Ovechkin stratight up. I know I am grasping for straws here but anything is possible. The Bs would then have plenty more cap space to trade prospects/draft picks for a better defensemen from a non-contending team. Caps are happy cuz they get an up and comer and Big name to still draw fans.

Merry Xmas!

Ovechkin...yeah right !! Why don't we just get Crosby and Lecavalier while we are at it !

I'm sorry to change the subject slightly but i have to point this out. Wideman sucks...yes he has some offensive skill but i get nervous when he has the puck. I would like to see him moved in a deal.

and back to someones earlier comment about the thornton trade. I think we can all agree it was an awful trade BUT kobasew and sturm are your two leading goal scorers.

Thats all well and good that Sturm and Kobasew are leading the team in goals...but who should be leading the team in scoring is one of the draft picks or top flight talent that the Sharks should have given up as part of the deal...the fact that O'Connell didn't ask for ANY prospects or draft picks make me think that he knew he was on his way out...and that he wanted to ruin the franchise.......the fact that Jacobs signed off on this deal shows how little he knows about owning an NHL franchise

i think the bruins should look at defencemen like J.M. Liles, M.A. Bergeron or Ron Hainsey. Not really top d-men but guys who are definitely top 4.

chiarelli's job is on the line if the bruins go down and fail to make the playoffs BY BY CHIARELLI!!!

Christ, one small losing streak and everyone wants to fire the entire front office.

I guess the fellowship of the miserable commuted itself from Yawkey Way over to Causeway.

Last year at this time the Bruins were 18-13 and now there 18-14. We know how the Bruins did last year. I'd be nervous of this losing streak. It could be a signal of things to come.

Getting back to the trades....Out of the prospects I would deal Allen and/or Marchand. Kessel is another one that will come back and haunt you, once he scores 40 with another team. DO NOT TRADE RASK, STUART OR LASHOFF ! If Santa came again for me...Bye Bye WIDEMAN !!

11:48 AM

i like marchand i watched him play in the jrs he is pretty fast and can score

i agree management should stay, injuries hurt the B's so far this year... but on the trading front i would give teams a list of prospects and exclude bergy, kessel, marchand, hamill, lucic, and rask and say take your pick if i was to obtain a player like ovi.... and then cheechoo is sucking and needs a new home sget him for cheap murray and a pick.... then find some sort of D help..

8:13 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

you guys are really dreaming. you have to give something big up to get something big in return. (unless you're san jose trading for thornton)

to get a guy like ovechkin you'd have to give up some big name prospects and/or some big name players. you'd have to expect kessel, bergeron, savard or rask type player/prospects to go.

9:20 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

would the real boston bruins please stand up? goodbye playing over your heads hot start, hello losing streak. looks like the injuries are actually making an impact.

10:10 PM

i think cheechoo would fit here and murray for cheechoo is enough san jose already stole thornton soo come on maybe they will throw in bernier. i tinhk modry from la would be a good fit maybe send allen or alberts no jk allen and a 3rd or 4th rounder

2:21 AM
Blogger beantown said...

Cheechoo would be a good fit and may only cost a pick and a prospect the way he is playing... Murray, Lashoff, Stuart, and our first rounders in 2007 and 2008 for Ovi and sign him to a 7yr 63-70 million dollar deal, then get some D help...

They now have lost six straight games. Now who wrote on this blog to not worry about this "small losing streak", which is now a big one.

there was no reason to worry then. Now is as good a time as any to be concerned, but no reason to be worried. We are still just under 4 weeks away from the all-star break

chiarelli has to make a move now. but he has to ask jacobs to spend some money!! you can put some blame on chiarelli stupid moves he as made "boyes for wideman" fernandez the 4 million dollar mistake!
he has to fix this now or it will be another DNQ, GOODBY CHIARELLI
