Krejci Recalled, Sobotka Demoted

David Krejci was recalled from Providence today while Vladimir Sobotka was demoted. Krejci is expected to play tomorrow afternoon against Atlanta. He may be slotted into the 2nd line where Sobotka practiced today, centering Sturm and Kobasew. Krejci adds a potential playmaking centerman for the Bruins. Krejci started the year with the Bruins as their third line center but Julien quickly demoted him to fourth line duty, before eventually being sent back to Providence. After his demotion, he collected 7 goals and 21 assists in 25 games. With the Bruins this season he only collected three assists in 12 games. Sobotka added grit to this team, but is undersized as a checking line center. More playing time in Providence will help him develop better offensively.

bruins should put a claim in for samsanov

Samsonov has a 3.5 million dollar cap hit. With the production that Samsonov provides (which has been none this season), it would be more wasted dollars by management if they did put a claim on him.

with all the injurys the team can not keep within the game plan. Samsonov is only 29 years old could have 3or4 good years in left in him??? we can not afford to drop any more games. I if we drop 3 more games it's all over

yeah midway thru the season losing 3 more games would mean its over...get a frickin clue...we go thru one losing streak and you losers throw it in...senators lost what? 8 in a row and they turned it around so anything can happen...stop being so damn pessemistic

maybe the b's should start looking at danny markov over in russia instead of wasting money on samsonov. they definitely need to do something soon.

After Randy Jones the bruins kept winning, but it was inevitable that something was going to give. They just don't have the depth to continue winning without some help.

In order to sign Markov he would have to clear league wide waivers in order to play again this season in the NHL, which means that the Bruins would do all the work getting him to sign a contract only to have a team who is struggling defensively with cap space take him away with no effort (like maybe Chicago). So that is just a pipe dream. Looks like we will actually be in a position to be shopping for players in and around the trade deadline instead of shopping players. Kinda nice to be in the driver's seat for a change.
As for the win today, it was awesome to see Julien grow a pair and start trusting the young guys to score and giving them a lot of minutes to do so, and then to have them respond.

Notice they had such a great game yesterday because the play was starting from the D. Wideman, Chara, Staurt, Lashoff - shot from the point, screen down low or rebound. It all starts with the D. Chia is reluctant to make a move, because if you watch yesterday's game - these guys can play and play well. First off, Marc Denis is in the minors. A call up means 50% off sale, would Chia think about getting another goalie? The one problem I do see is that this team has no depth after Rask. Don't know if you can get a decent goalie from the draft - but it is one thing to think about. Now, on to Sammy. $3.5MM and we're almost at half way through the year. So let's call it 1.9MM. If he is sent to the minors and recalled, Boston can get him for $800K (roughly). Let me be the first (or one of the firsts) to say that if the B's do land Sammy it will be a good thing. First of all a lot of fans will keep their Samsonov jerseys. Two, I think Sammy will have a "I'm going home" attitude with a city who loved him really. I don't remember seeing many Samsonov jerseys in Edmonton, Montreal or Chicago. He's played with Axelsson and Murray. I think a Sammy-Savard-Murray top line will work exteremely well. He's also played with Sturm and Bergeron. This could be exactly what he needs - and what the Bruins need. We know he is injury prone a bit, sometimes out deaks himself, tries to be flashly - but under coach Julien and in the black and gold - yes I would welcome him back and especially for the price. He is not old just not having a good time getting ripped in Montreal or Chicago. And lastly two mind scratchers to start the new year. 1) If Boston would host an outdoor at Fenway, who would you want to see them play? Montreal or Philadelphia (Imagine Bergeron's return that day) and 2) If Chia calls the caps and asks for Ovechkin and they say what do you offer? HONESTLY - What would you counter with? HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! And Bruins to rock in 2008!

julien would never play samsonov. he doesnt play defense and wouldnt fit into his system. samsonov may be the dumbest hockey player in the nhl. i loved him when he was here and he didnt have to play a system here cuz it was the old nhl where teams didnt have as many ridiculous defensive traps(new jersey and detroit were the only two for a while). but it just shows once he left he had to play within a system he couldnt do it.

While Sammy-Savard-Murray might sound really good, think of how much worse that line would get defensively. Substituting Samsonov for Axelsson would probably net us 5% higher goals-for and 10% higher goals-against.

I like what the B's are doing right now with Krejci and Sobotka. Giving young guys alternating chances with the big club is the right way to develop them.

Is it just me, or has Thornton looked useless out there lately? Reich gives us the same dynamic with way more energy and skill. Thornton should only be used when we are winning and we want to rub it in some faces a few times a game.

Samsonov had his time here in Boston and there is no need to get another player that won't do anything (Sturm, I'm looking in your direction).

As much as I want Chiarelli to make a move to help this team now, there is no way any team is going to pull one off when the race is still this close. We're all going to have to wait until the deadline for anything to go down.

Hopefully Alberts and Ward can get back sooner than later and the team can tread water until the reinforcements arrive.

Chiarelli will make a move at the deadline and it will be for a top 4 defenseman.

Isn't Danny Markov a UFA? I know he signed in Russia but that contract has an out-clause to come back to the NHL.
