Metropolit at Camp

The Bruins offered a tryout to Glen Metropolit and he was at camp today. Last season he played with Atlanta before being traded to St. Louis. He recorded 14 goals and 19 assists in 77 games for the two teams combined. For his NHL career, he has played in 180 games and has recorded 24 goals and 56 assists as well as a +17 rating. Fluto Shinzawa of the Globe, suggested Metropolit could be looked at as a checking line center. He will wear number 13 for the Bruins, previously worn by Stanislav Chistov.

I am anxious to see how the Bruins look. They could be a surprise this year offensively, as long as they stay injury free.Should be some good competition for the 3rd and 4th line on the Bruins. I do believe with the new goalie and a better defensive system the bruins will be a more competitive team. cant wait for the season to start.

I agree with anonymous, my only hope, though, is that while the B's stay defensive that there will be a lot of offense as well. Nothing I like to see more than players score points.

I think that Julien will run a defense first kind of system, but encourage blowing it wide open once in a while. For the first time in a long time, there is a ton of speed up front that can streak an push into the zone. With two traditional snipers that will likely right-wing the top two lines, look for speedy guys like Bergy and Kessel to open things up and then deal to the snipers as they find open space coming into the zone late.

yeah i think not, the bruins will give away the puck in the neutral zone.the defensive system will rely on dump and chase.thats where the tiny bruins will falter.getting muscled off the puck by stronger smarter players.fernadez while he is clearly a #2 will be showered heavily with shots and rushing forwards.with a very inexp d .expect the lackluster bruins to get a high draft pick in next years draft.

the bruins should do a celtics trade but not give up 7 players maybe 3 or 4 for a goood defenseman. I dunno im just dying to watch some hockey. GO BRUINS!

I have seen Metropolit at the AHL level and he seems to be decent down there, I have a feeling I'll be seeing him a great deal in Providence. Hope I'm wrong.
