HOSSA HOSSA HOSSA HOSSA HOSSA

I won't shut up until we sign him or he is gone BUT according to Eklund (I know, but hell anything Hossa and Boston makes me happy inside), the Bruins are the front runner according to a team source.  HOSSA HOSSA HOSSA!!!

how about pitkanen for Murray. Don't the Oilers need salary to reach the "floor"?

we can then dump Manny F. and sign someone else?

Free Agency I can't wait! It's like a holiday. I hope we sign Ron Hainsey. He would be a good pick up for our defense. I'm a bit bias though because he is an alumnus of my school (UMass Lowell).

both the Herald and the globe are reporting that the bruins will NOT be signing Hossa and that the dream is dead. We'll be wasting our cap on some lesser scrubs instead. some team like Detroit will get him.

prepare to be disappointed

I won't be disappoined. Why would you want Hossa to have a cap-hit of 8million a season. Forget that. Teams cam have success without a Hossa style guy. Dallas, for instance. Assume they will not sign Hossa, or anyone for that matter.

I am as BIG a Bruins fan as anyone can be & would dearly love to see the B's improve their offence. But your scenario of $54M over 7 years is much too much that would financially strap the Bruins in the future.

Sure the deal may pan out for the short term of 3 years maybe. However when Hossa loses his incentive & drive as most Europeans do, the B's will be faced with owing him about $25M over 4 years. Due to his age at that time, his diminished production & the $$ left on his contract, he probably would not draw much attention trade-wise. That leaves the B's with absorbing the contract & paying Hossa for not living up to his potential, or buying him out at 2/3 of $25M, or $16.6M, i.e., a cap hit of $6.25M over 4 years.

When you look at it this way, Hossa clearly is not the solution. More affordable players like Stillman & Ryder would probably serve the B's quest better at this time.

The Herald and Globe hate the Bruins. They mainly care about reporting on the Sox and Pats. I've learned to give very little thought to anything they put out there. Most places are still reporting that Boston is the #1 contender for Hossa.

BTW, Habhater has a very good point...
Ryder would be a great fit on the B's. Carbo and the Hab's organization hate him and don't give him the chance to be as good as he could be. I'd LOVE to see the B's sign him.

I agree araev16. I think he could be a steal flying under the radar a bit and think he would be a great fit here under Julien.

Pro Sports Dairy.Com is say the latest rumor is the Bruins are going to make a pitch for Hossa in the range of 12yrs 100 million dollars.

How about what's his name from Pheonix? (I can never remember his name, if he wore black & gold I would). Verbata, I think. Almost same numbers as Hossa, but a hell of alot cheaper.

How about a Dman? I like Hainsy. Anyone else?

chiarelli's blog said they tried for an elite guy today but failed (maybe Hossa, maybe not Hossa). Also, theyre talking to another player, which Neely and Julien have talked with to try and sell the city and fans on him....no names are dropped so I dont know who it could be....
