Prospal not coming to Boston

Vaclav Prospal was traded from the Tampa Bay Lighting to the Philadelphia Flyers. In return Tampa Bay will receive winger Alexander Picard and a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick in 2009.

Prospal is someone the Bruins should have targeted. He would have been a great addition on either the first or second line. He can play both center and wing plus he is great on the powerplay. He has 29 goals and 28 assists in 62 games this season. Could the Bruins have gotten him? Yes, and it shows they would not have to give up that much to get him. Alex Picard is 22 and not exactly a top-tier prospect. The Bruins could have probably packaged Pelletier and a pick to obtain Prospal, a move that I believe they should have done. The Bruins need offense and Prospal would have been an excellent addition especially since they wouldn't need to mortgage the farm.

Only trade Bs should be making is for either a proven d-man or scorer for draft picks and maybe a 2nd tier prospect. I honestly don't think he has cap space anyways once Manny and Bergeron come back next year, unless they move Murray first.
