Flashback 2003 offseason:

Flashback, the lockout is upon us. We just got eliminated from the playoffs by the Habs. I am Mike O'Connell. Here is what I should do.

Re-sign Sergei Gonchar to a 4 year deal worth 4,500,000 per season. Increase of just under 1 million for Gonchar from his previous season.

Re-sign Michael Nylander to a 3 year deal worth 3,400,000 per season. An increase of just under 1 million from his previous season.

Re-sign Brian Rolston to a 4 year deal worth 3,000,000 per season.

Re-sign Mike Knuble to a 3 year deal worth 2,650,000 per season.

The following offseason, after a lockout season, I do the following.

Trade Nick Boynton, a 1st round pick, and Sergei Zinojev to the St. Louis Blue for Chris Pronger. (It was a rumored deal of Boynton and a pick to Stl. for Pronger, when MOC couldn't pull the trigger or got beaten out)

Re-sign Joe Thornton to a 5 year deal worth 6.8 per.

And our team would be...

Knuble-Thornton-Murray
Samsonov-Nylander-Rolston
Axelsson-Bergeron-Boyes
Isbister- Green-PROSPECT

Gonchar-Pronger
Gill-O'Donnell
Slegr-McGillis

Raycroft
Toivonen

Not the best defense, but a sick offensive team.

i would much rather have savvy than a washed up nylander for another 4 years...and i would rather have kobasew instead of sergei "lets see how many times i can cycle the puck" samsonov

It was Jeremy Jacobs who told MOC to get rid of all those players. MOC begged him to keep them but I guess Jacobs wanted to save some money.

We are finally starting to get back in the race as MOC screwed us over and set us back several years.

I'm not sure if anyone else finds this strange, but to consistently try and hawk your own website on another blog seems a bit weak. Not for nothing, but build your own readership though good writing and word of mouth. Don't try and steal readers from somewhere else.

Now in regards to this article, the Thornton trade put this franchise back at least 5-7 years. Quite possibly the worst trade in hockey history.

thanks JHA. actually, this is word of mouth. I can't tell people in Nova Scotia about my blog in person so this is the next best thing. I am just trying to get my new blog exposure. I am not attempting to "steal" readers as you claimed. I, in fact, would like readers to view both. What's wrong with checking out two sites? Have you ever seen a commercial on tv or heard one on the radio? Consider this my commercial for my site. You don't have to "buy my product" if you dont want to.

no kidding mckeon...atleast you update your site more than once every 3 weeks...its nice to have a blog that puts some insight into the season and shows some effort into keeping it updated...thanks for making a site

i think everyone needs to relax. we are talking about blogs here, not fortune 500 hundred companies. If you don't like my concept of trying to gain exposure then, by all means, you do not have to come. I'm not forcing anyone to leave here. You should find something useful to complain about other than a blog about the team we love.

Feel free to do what you want man, obviously there's nothing I can do. I just wanted to put my two cents in.

And here is me calling out whoever Scotianuck, Pekese, Walshie, and Ryan W are. If you're still alive it wouldn't hurt to contribute every now and again. There are people that visit this site daily that would love to write. Either start helping or get off the site.

Mckeon I don't really care. I did the same thing when I started my blog. A good thing to do is go on Bruins Message Boards where I got a lot of readers from. I think what Jha was saying is just be so blunt about it. But anyways I don't update the site as much with game stuff because I think most of us watch the games for ourselves. I've also been very busy this season and I am actually on vacation now.

As for the other writers. I don't know where Pekese went, he usually posted a lot and Scotianuk is in the army right now in Canada, so I left him a spot, he left last year. Ryan W and Walshie, no clue. I'm going to try and get things sorted out.
