Reich resigns with the Bruins with a 1-way multi-year deal.
PC said he is close to signing Dennis Wideman to a 1 year deal.
This could spell a deal because that gives us Thornton-Reich/Axelsson-Mowers/Donovan on the 4th line. Chistov-Kessel-Kobasew on the 3rd. It remains to be seen if we add a 3rd line center (Lindros/Peca) and move Kessel to the wing. The B's could package TT/Hannu with Donovan for a forward as well.

Everyone's going to moan and groan about what a boring move signing Reich is, but he is exactly the kind of hard-nosed grit that people can't shut up about. He's a badass. I like him.
I like packaging Donovan with TT/Hannu for a forward. A team that needs a reliable backup goaltender should bite. They'll like Donovan's experience and reliability. I have nothing against him, but we already have guys that fill the same role that he does and they're younger.
Sorry but Reich is a pussy.
I'm all set with Donovan/Mowers, I would welcome trading them (I am also interested in trading PJ and Murray as well)

Reich is not a pussy, and no Bruins fan should be interested in trading PJ. You couldn't have watched him in the last 10 years and not know how valuable and irreplaceable PJ is. Thats just stupid.
PJ is good in the specific role he plays. The guy is allergic to the back of the net though
Lewis mis-cast him, like he did with just about every other player on this team. My hope is that Julien plays these guys strengths within his system. If that is the case then they may have a shot at something other than loserville.

Reich is anything but a pussy,he fought 9 times last year only losing once. He brought some toughness and heart to a team that rarely had either. Good signing. I can't wait to see him and Thornton together.
Dude, half of you pricks must not even watch hockey. To call Reich a pussy, to judge PJ on goal scoring ability - something that has merely been a plus to his more defensive role on the team - is just plain ignorant. I hope you all get your way when we get a bunch of dudes that score a ton of goals, but there is nobody to pass to them, and nobody to play defense. Maybe you'll reall enjoy watching us lose 12 - 7 every game. Go watch basketball.
Reich is a good tough kid, we do need that! However, we need some bigger pieces of the puzzle here. How many more days can we just sit around Mr. PC ?? Miller would have been a great addition....oh yeah he's gone now ! Let's wait a little longer !
What miller are you ferring to? Certainly isn't Ryan Miller. Reguardless Boston needs to get a top 6 foward and a top 3 defenseman. Trade some prospects get something done and make this team tough to play against I don't want to see another losing season, I can't stand seeing this historic franchise go down the drain like they have lately, it pisses me off so badly.
Donovan and Hannu for a top 6 winger - that is a trade I can get on board with. I am not unhappy with our defense.

Anyone who wants to trade PJ knows nothing about hockey! He is one of the most under-rated players and does so many other things on the ice to help win games that even if he scores zero goals on the year he is more valuable then most of the clowns The Bruins have on their team. There are too many fans on this site that only care about siging guys and making big trades. This is a "Cap league" now and you just can't go sign every top free agaent every year. Sure it was cool to get Savard and Chara
signed last July 1st...but it isn't going to happen every year.
I'm ecstatic they resigned Reich. They guy not only plays hard, but he has heart. He showed up to play hockey every single game he was in, right up until the end. (which is a lot more than I can say for most of the team). I can't wait to see what he brings this upcoming season, especially paired up with Thornton. A little dynamite is what this team needs!
Why not grab Semenov or Vishnevski and O'Neill?
Semenov is only 26, but is 6' 6" and 235lbs. Sportsnet ranks him as a top six defenseman. He made less the 880k last year, bet he could be had for under 900k.
Vishnevski is 27, 6' 2" 215 lbs. Little better offensively then Semenov, and Sportnes ranks him as a top four d-man. He mad 1.5 mil last year... so not sure how much the B's would have to pay.
O'Neill would fill the role for that last winger. He is 31, and still has some skills. If the Bruins decide to keep Kessel as the third center, then I think O'Neill could really produce with Savard and Murray. Made 1.5 last year, but I think could be had for less. Even a one year deal.
And why not offer Jurcina a sheet? I'd be willing to give a pick or two back for him! Now that we have a coach that has proven he knows what he is doing.
If Kessel goes to the top line to play wing... I think Peca would look good between Chistov and Kobasew.
But again... PC is sitting on his thumbs watching all the talent go out the door. Yeah... Reich is a good signing for his grit. But isn't that why Thornton was signed? Don't we have Mowers and Donovan? Why so many 3rd and 4th liners on a team that needs to put the puck in the net and play better defensively?

Spectors hockey is reporting that the Canucks are looking to make a big trade regarding a scoring forward and in return would be moving a defenseman as well as Brendan Morrison.
I think there lies a solid option for PC. It's certainly worth looking at.
I think the Canucks are looking at Elias. That has been a rumour hanging around for a bit.
