Offseason could turn out alright

This offseason could actually turn out better than we all think. I was sitting around and going, who is still out there I want? Well...

Andy Sutton would be a perfect defenseman to add on the squad. His value has dropped dramatically. He was supposed to be paid 4 million, but no team has offered that. So say we can get him at 3.4 or so for 1 season maybe 2, like a Brad Stuart deal, than that would be perfect. LA needs goaltending, what about trying to acquire Lubomir Visnovsky?

Then, forward wise, we could sign Brandan Shanahan, or offer Michael Ryder an offer sheet. Or, we could swing a deal. Trade TT/Hannu and Kobasew for a top 6 winger. Then we could sign a 3rd line UFA like Peca, or take a chance on a guy like Tony Amonte, or Mike York.

Just curious, wasn't Michael Ryder the same guy who played possum and dove all over the ice against the B's in the playoffs a couple years ago?

That was ribero not ryder - ryder was runner up to raycroft for rookie of the year an d is a tough as nails goal scorer from newfoundland.

I can get on board with a Shannahan or an Amonte... Someone that we can get away with spending just what we have free this year and not worry about on next year's numbers. Lets spend a little dough and make the playoffs.

I'll take Ryder and Shanahan any day of the week, if for nothing more than to piss off the Habs..

An offer sheet.... The B's try to deal Murray to make more space under the cap. How they can afford an offer sheet, now?

i would love to acquire visnovsky. as for sending an offer sheet, i still say stempniak from the blues. he is amazing and would be way cheaper than ryder.

I also would not mind seeing Ryder in a Bruins jersey. I just don't think PC has the balls to do something like that!
There are three defenseman left that could work.... Markov, Semenov and Vishnovski. I agree with taking a shot on York, but how about O'Neill? He put up decent numbers last year in Toronto, and we could probably get him for around a million. Then there is Bulis, Peca, and Winchester. But here we are... all dreaming... cause PC is going to waste time and sign NOBODY!!
We need to just pray that the team will gel, and that Julien can pull a miracle out of his ass! Let's hope Fernandez stands on his head, and Chistov, Bochenski and Kobasew have break out years. Otherwise, we will be looking at another top 5 pick!
You know... I have to apologize to a lot of you on here... I was sticking up for PC way to much! I admit when i'm wrong... and with PC... he is starting to smell like O'Connell!!

NO WAY any of this happens. It's too late and it's obvious JJ has told PC to stop spending money!! Oh, FYI, John Tavares isn't available til '09.

I think you'll see Chiarelli acquire forward Marek Svatos from Colorado. Toivenen and/or a draft pick will go the other way.

How about trading Chara? He is just too slow and is a huge minus for a starting D. Can't we trade for for somone like Dunc Keith (chi) who on a crappy team is 0 +/- and is tough as nails. I just want the Bruins to bring back there persona of the 70,s and 80's where teams hated to play in Boston because the fans were pumped and the hits were hard and numerous! What about bringing Tootoo from Nashville to bring some jump to the games? We need young hard-nosed guys period.

A quote in Sunday's Globe from Chara's agent:
"No bikes," said Matt Keator, Chara's agent. "He's focused. He's back to being [ticked] off. He got off track, so he's sticking to what he can do well, both off and on the ice. He'll be back to his old self next year. Other teams will pay for that. He knows what he has to do. He's waiting for the season to start right now."

Sounds like he is pretty pissed off.. It's about time.

Very good news on Chara. I think he was a bit out of sorts and a little lost as a captain in a new city with a daunting task of being the supposed savior of a piss-poor team. I hope this statement means that he finally realizes that we picked him up to play his game. Now he can hopefully get mean, throw his giant body into some people's way, and get everyone else going too, fans and teammates alike.
