Senators Acquire Comrie

The Ottawa Senators have acquired C Mike Comrie from the Phoenix Coyotes for center Alexei Kaigorodov. Comrie has 7 goals and 13 assists in 24 games for the Coyotes. Kaigorodov had one assist in six games with the Sens. He was suspended by the Sens in November for refusing to report to their AHL affiliiate. The Coyotes will not have to pay Kaigorodov due to his suspension and he will not return to the NHL until next season.

Matt's take: Good deal for Ottawa. Comrie is a good player and they got him for close to nothing. His cap hit is a little hefty, but with Spezza and Fischer out, they had no choice, especially after losing out on Nedved.
