Murray

Rumor is that Glenn Murray will not be a Boston Bruins next year. According to TFP the Bruins are unhappy with Muzzy who will make $4.1 million next season in his last year of his contract. Murray could be sent down to the Providence Bruins so his $4.1 doesn't take a hit on the cap or they could buy him out and that would take a $1.4 hit on the cap for the next two seasons. I know the Bruins would love to get ride of him and are going to try and trade him first. However, you have to be nuts to take him. I don't see the Bruins buying him out since they are cheap and don't want to take the cap hit. I see them sending him down to Providence.

In other news the Bruins are going to have their hands full in net next season. The plan was to have Raask play 1 year in Providence and see how he did. Well he did really well and should be on the big club next season. The only problem is the Bruins were not smart signing Manny this past season. They also have Tim Thomas who hand another soild year. Everyone in the NHL knows the B's will try to deal Manny but who's going to take him and his heafty contract? Teams rather have Thomas or Raask and the Bruins could get something worth while in return. I don't see them making a move here at all, if anything buying out Manny but once again they are not know for doing that.

I would like to see the Bruins sign JML from the Avs. I would also like to see a goal scoring forward. The Bruins have plenty of grit and grind but when push comes to shove you need goals and 3 lines of it.

about time we had an update on this site...thanks walshie...as for manny and murray...i dont care what we do as long as they dont suit up next year they are just dead weight on this team and the playoffs showed that muzz is completely worthless and has been since joe t skipped town...i dont want hossa honestly we can take that 8 million and put it elsewhere i feel honestly feel like we are one elite puck moving defensemen away...liles would be a poor mans brian campbell but either would suit that role well...top 2 lines would be decent with savvy sturm kessel bergie krej lucic but who knows with this team

I don't want Hossa - he is another no show in the playoffs we have had enough of them over the years. Dump Murray - Manny - package them up with Kreji. Bring back Brian Rolston - he always seemed to get that needed goal, mostly always shorthanded, great shot on the powerplay. Need one more defenceman and this team would be a realistic contender

no chance we trade krejci man...not a chance in hell...just send them both to providence so they dont count against the cap and be done with them...let them rot down there not playing anymore

it will be a cold day in hell before murray goes to providence. there is no way a veteran like that will take a demotion to the AHL, that's ridiculous to even suggest that

the B's will buy him out

Tough situation for Murray but is their a possibility of pay cut and stick with the big club like in football?

Told you Rask will be playing in Boston next season.

Krecji will stay.

Im happy with the D if we keep Ward and Wideman.

We do need a scorer so Reich doesnt play all 82 games, you know shit like that.

Thanks for the response. The Bruins can't cut his price tag, that's what he signed the NFL is the only league who can do that.

You might be the smartest man on the planet, every team needs a goal scorer, but it's going to be the team to open up there pockets, so the bruins are out of that. Not to mention the OWNER probally thinks everything is fine since he didn't lose money this year.

Not to mention they probaly think they will be that much closer with Bergy back. But reguardless they need a top 6 F.

yeah i was just throwing demotion like that out there ya know...doubt either of them would take it but whatever...as for a top six...anyone know any that are FA this offseason...ward and wideman are top priorities right now...along with maybe locking kessel up long term since his deal is up this year?

I don't believe Kessel will ever amout to anything above a 3'rd line guy - He has the wheels but cant hang on to the puck - he looks like another samsonov. We have enough center men so package Kessel and Krejci while thier stock is high and throw in Murray - Go after Spezza and Brian Cambell - they would have an awsome impact. Hossa is another high priced guy who can only get the 6 and 7'th goal in a 8-1 game - he is not the go to guy who gets the tying or winning goal. The bruins have enough young guys coming up to match up with Bergeron - Savard - Kobasew and Sturm

Just because Ottawa sucked does not mean he does - he is a class act and he would bring amazing talent and knowledge for the young guys coming up.

Why would we need Spezza? We have 2 great centers already with Bergie and Savvy. With Krecji on the up and up coming cheap and effective, where would Spezza even fit in cap wise? Demote Bergie or Savvy? Its just not going to happen. Do the math. We are deep in center, we need a winger and d-man. Campbell would be nice, but JML or another is much more likely. It wont be easy to shed Manny or Glens cap space.

Speaking of which, it may sound shocking sending Murray down, but its not ridiculous if you look at the list of NHL'ers that finished as a career minor leaguer, you would be further shocked. Mike Keane comes to mind, long time NHL captain and vet.

Oh, and how can you say "I told you Rask will be playing in Boston next season", where does your frame of reference come from? Because he is doing fairly well in the AHL? Because Tim hurt his knee?

Breaking news; Rask will be playing in the AHL next season, where he will continue to develop until ready. Tim Thomas.....will be the Bruins starter. The Bruins will try to and hopefully buy out either Manny or Glen, and right now, Id much rather have a shadow of Glen Murray than a wannabe starter like Manny screwing everything up. Here are some fun facts about Mannys "stellar" career for all you Manny fans.

Has only 1 season with 30 wins. The same season he cashed in on.

through 10 YEARS he has only 125 career wins. 12.5 wins per season.

The most games he played in a season is 58 games and did that just once. He has two 44 games played seasons, and two mid 30's games played seasons. Gee, what a horse.

He has only 3 career playoff wins, coming during Minnesotas run to the conf finals. He was pulled in favor of Roloson, who made the run, not Manny.

By next training camp, he will have gone 18 months without consistent NHL action.

Chew on that for a while.

I don't disagree - I just hava a feeling about Krejci - couple of good games for the bruins but he will faulter just like others have in the past - He had one good game in the world tournament but had done nothing the past few games. - I have been a loyal fan for 40 years now and have seen too many players like him come and go. When are the bruins going to give up trying to find the diamond in the rough and go out and get the proven world class players - Savard and Chara are not enough to finaly get the cup back where it belongs

Rask will play in the A next season. No need to rush him just because the Canadiens have a good young goalie. Price was the exception, not the rule.

Buy Out Fernandez and Murray and that saves you something like $5 million in cap space. That is money that they could use to get someone who will contribute as opposed to someone who warms the bench well.

The Bruins need to get rid of that old hag Murray. I agree with the post stating that wee need another goal scoring forward. A little more offense would guarantee a spot in the playoffs for next year. Also I think JML would be a great pick up

Why don't we wait and see with Manny? Honestly buying him out just leaves us with timmy, and we have to pay a 1 million + in cap hit for the next two years. I say let him play, ride him till he is doing well, and trade him for a backup goalie and a handful of drafts or prospects.

We may have no choice but to see what Manny does. In all honesty, I dont see the Bruins buying him out, but I still think Thomas will come out on top as the starter.

Alex Auld seemed to compliment Timmy nicely, so if we were to buy out Manny or trade him, were doing just fine in net with Rask coming in a season or two. They would probably look for another vet in the mean time without a huge cap hit.

Fact is, we need immediete scoring help (not prospects, but maybe not a Hossa) on the wing, and a puck moving d-man, hopefully one who can quarter back the PP better than Chara.

There is a stock load of FA's available this summer. Plenty of talent to dip into without major cap hits. Hossa would be nice, but its not likely with Manny and Glens contracts in the books.
