Some Things to Think About

...on a potential Thrashers deal...

1) Kovalchuk won't be in it. Why would ATL deal him, he is under contract for awhile, top winger in the league, no deal.

2) It is a high powered forward, so that leaves Hossa. Holik cannot be considered that, unless you want to trade Muzzy straight up in exchange for contracts, which makes no sense.

3) It won't be Slava Kozlov, he was just resigned by Atlanta, if the Bruins wanted him, they would have attempted to sign him.

4) It won't be Chara going to ATL, he has a full NTC, why would he waive that? And why would the Bruins deal their captain?

5) It won't be Savard, he is one of the best bargains in the NHL, and to have Bergeron, Kessel, and Savard to center, is something you don't want to break up.

6) It won't be Bergeron, Chia said, and why would we deal a 22 year old who had a 70+ point "down season"?

So, all guesses are we are looking at Hossa. He has a 6 million cap hit. B's have 2.736 million in cap space. So we need to send roughly 4.5 million back to ATL to make a cap space wise deal. Aaron Ward (2.75), Chuck Kobasew (1.2) is 3.95 million, still a little short, but could work. Obviously, not enough to get a deal done. But likely those two would be included. Ward, ATL needs defensive help, Kobasew is still a promising young winger. A 1st round pick would likely be included, also a top prospect (Soderberg, Alexandrov, Stuart). Maybe Murray could go to ATL.

7) Hossa makes sense because of the Chiaconnection.

i like your points but Kovalchuk is quoted as saying he does not want to be in ATL. A trade of Hossa wont improve that. I still could see a deal happening were we get Kovalchuk.

Peter is way to smart to pick up someone else garbage like Holik So if all this is true then its Hossa or Kovalchuk either way this is what we need a guaranteed goal score that Savy can feed I prefer Kovalchuk because of the onetimer gun on this kid is off the hook but Hossa is by far the best rounded player of the two and that could be the age difference SO throw a coin and lets grab one of these gamebreakers Quick

They maybe dumping Kovalchuk to resign Hossa and or making room for others. Sturm or Murray. Ward and Walters for Kovalchuk hows that sound

This rumour makes sense to me I believe this could be the real deal we have lots of prospects and decent talent we could give up to get at least one of these studs

i sure hope it is the real deal imagine a line of kovalchuk on the left, savard in the middle and bergy on the right(he can play the wing). it will be one of the top lines in the league. trade Murray for D maybe to SJ for a young gun. this team should be playoff bound.

"And why would the Bruins deal their captain?"

Good question. I think Joey T asked that same one, though.

no matter who bos signs,we'll always be a good 2pts for the other team.i'm getting tired of bostons ways, for the first time i'm actually thinking of switching teams.there's just to many downs being a bruin fan!we have a jackass for an owner, and idiot for a gm,why o why hockey gods have you cursed this team.maybe jj should sell the team ot somebody who wants to be a winner.jj is content and stated he like being a loser!sounds like he's going to run the bruins till the day he dies, kindda like montgomery burns, cheap, cheao, cheap.only cares about money, not pride, heritage or all those good feelings you get with a healthy club.i am so tired...sorry fellow bruins fan,i fell sad for our team...
