Samsonov Could Return

Harris of the Herald reports that the Habs will likely buy out Sergei Samsonov this summer. He has said he highly regreats signing in Montreal. If he were to be bought out, he would consider returning to Boston at a high discount, ala 1yr/1 million or 2yr/2.2 million. Something along those lines.

Matt's Take: If he fits into the plans go for it, he didn't magically lose his talent overnight. I think he'd be a great fit with Savard or Bergeron. He had a good season last year and he likes Boston. I am all for bringing him back and I think he could be a Petr Tenkrat type guy on the team. Never too much offense, and the Bruins are lacking.

Sammy is axelsson without PJ's defense AND offense now. Please stop day dreaming about what Sammy once was. His last two seasons here in boston he became a black hole. The puck would dissappear into him to never be seen again until the other team picked it up. He could have saved us all a lot of time by just passing it to the other team. Rather than impressing kids like you with his Ice Capades moves. OOO look a triple sow cow!

I think it is a Russian thing. It seems like the Russians have the skills, but do not have the passion or desire to play with those skills on a daily basis. It seems to me that they are lazy and once they cash in and sign that contract, they simply stop caring. Examples: Fedorov, Samsonov, Kovalev, Zhamnov, and Yashin off the top of my head.

we now have kessel as a great individual with skills who is not a team player. why would we want samsonov back who has made a reputation of being this type of player. kessel may mature and become a team player but for sergi it is to late.

Great, so then DL can take more minutes from the developing youth and give it to another unproductive veteran.

Samsonov has had talent and was a hard worker his whole career. I think his problem has been the health issues he's had since before the lock out. He'd have to come in at league minimum to even be considered and then it would be a long shot.
