Another Lead, Another Loss

Yes, for a minute, everyone believed that they can pull it off. (Buzzer), wrong answer. The good'ol B's had a " secret rendez-vous " with their bad habits and let a 4-1 lead transform into a 5-4 loss in SO.

Latrappe's take: Sadly for the team, " Swiss cheese " Thomas let another softy in, on the second goal, and was unable to make the key save in SO. Miller did it in the first period and in the shootout. That's why his team had the possibilty to win it all tonight. So, for those who says that the B's goaltending is ok; please look at Miller's tape tonight to see what is a REAL #1 goaltender. It's too bad that the B's didn't have that kind of goaltending... . Still, the team let this game go in the 3rd period and i expect Chiarelli to make a move soon or later. There's no word to describe this pathetic fiasco...

latrappe you are riduculously dumb! there someone had to say it. if you can not watch this game and be disgusted at how the team played 50 fantastic minutes and then just stopped skating and hitting in the last ten, while trying to blame the goalie who was left out to dry again. i mean come on.

use your head, ryan miller cant be that great - pj scored on him and if you believe the idiots around here, pj couldnt score on a inflatable doll. oooo you say ryan miller didnt have a chance on the pj goal...no crap, thomas didnt have a chance when the team folded the tents in front of him.

where was the time out when they got it back to 4-3 to settle the troops.

when will phil kessel find his finish?

when will patrice bergeron (-2) find his game.

the good news....they played a great game for 50 minutes, when they learn to put 60 together it looks like they can play with anyone....

i am still soo pissed at how stupid your post is!!!

how can you be upset with the goaltending... you complain about the second goal being soft (i will review the tape later and let you know if it was soft or not)lets see that goal made it 4-2 i believe...

hello "the great ryan miller" had already given up 4 goals by then and the whole bruins team had dominated buffalo to this point.

how could this team just give away the game it had so well in hand. ill tell you - the whole team went into a shell - five fkking shoots in the third period!!! after 28 in the first two!!

latrappe give me your phone number and i will call you during the next game. this way i can explain to you what you are watching.

lattrape, you just don't get it. Miller isn't just a No. 1 goaltender. He's one of a small number of elite goalies in the current NHL. One of maybe 4 or 5 in this league. You are insane if you think Nabokov or any other goaltender we could get for Murray is in the same leage as Miller!

Thomas played very well. He *is* a No. 1 goaltender. Nobody's claiming he's an elite gloatender... but on the other hand, I think it's possible he could be one day. You seem to think players are born with some set level of ability. Baloney! Look at Alberts for Gods sake. He was scouted this time last year to be never be better than a fourth liner. Players get better! They can beat the expectations of narrow minded impatient people!

The team played exceptionally well for 55 minutes and I was really impressed with the way they played in the overtime period. The NESN guys said they went into a defensive shell for the final 5 minutes of the 3rd, but that's not true. What it looked like to me was they that they were mentally fatigued. They just couldn't keep it going foe the entire game. But for those who's cups are always half empty I say this: what I saw last night was a team that gets better with every game and that is capable of finally winning a playoff series! First they played a good 20 minutes. Then a very good 40 minutes, and now an excellent 55 minutes... plus some real character in OT. Wow! They are coming along very well. I love this team! I know you guys are all about trades, but I say don't change a thing.

Do you even watch the games Latrappe? The majority of the goals Thomas let in were deflections or wide open looks for the shooter. Tim Thomas stole the game against Ottawa, and he's the only reason that the Bruins took home a point against St.Louis. The officiating was awful in last nights game. Phil Kessel should have been awarded a penalty shot when he was hauled down. And the missed high stick call on Chara was brutal. It happened right near the puck and he was squirting blood. Dave Lewis should have called a time out after the Sabres made it 4-2. He knows his team has given up leads late before so why not call a timeout and settle them down and remind them to clear the puck and play smart hockey. I like Chara but he played a poor defensive game last night, he lost his man on a number of occasions. All and all the Bruins looked terrific (minus the last 5 mins), things seem to be slowly coming together. The only thing I would change now is deal Brad Stuart for some more scoring power up front. Lashoff seems to be more than capable to play at the NHL level.

So again, you base the entire loss on goaltending! By stating

"Thomas let another softy in, on the second goal, and was unable to make the key save in SO."

So a goalie lets in a softy (like Miller did on a couple) it's his fault for a loss? The second goal had no effect on the final outcome. The "running around with their heads cut-off" defence lost the game for the Bruins. That and the Sabres offence is freakin amazing.

The fact that our offence (and PP) was amazing last night and we managed to shut down their defence for 3/4 of the game is a feet in itself.

Yeah you mention at the end of your post that "the team let this game go in the 3rd", but you mention it almost as a footnote.

Miller did not act like a number one goalie. He allowed the pathetic offensively challenged Bruins score FOUR goals on him. He played like an adequate back-up.

The team stop playing the style of play they are best at. As soon as they stop forechecking and attacking they were done. Why they changed the style of play that was succesful for 55 minutes is just amazing to me. They let Thomas down he didn't let them down. If they can start playing most of their games like they did the 1st 55 minutes for a full 60 they can beat anyone.
