Line Combinations

Just sitting around thinking. Last year Bergy, Boyes, and Sturm were a GREAT line, but this season so far, lines 1 and 2 have been mediocre. Why don't we slot Sturm back up to LW with the top line and move Kessel down. Sturm has been crap so far this year. Kessel has been good, but to his luck he hasn't scored on many oppurtunites. I feel it is a waste to have Sturm on the 2nd line.

maybe coach lewis will come to see beregerons line as the number one line. but i do not believe that he does yet...sturm, savard and murray have been your number one line so far....
evidence
the number one line has been the first out on the power play with the best guy from the SECOND line (bergeron) at the point!!!!

you may not like this arrangement but that is the way it is...

lets look at the finances as well...murray sturm savard = 11.2 million

kessel beregeron boyes = 6-9 million (depending on kessels bonus)

its clear who the coach thinks is the second line....

and lets face it matt the line you were saying was our number one line "last year" is really only a top notch 2nd line on most teams.

thats said results so far suck lets see if kessel has any luck lining up with savard on the first line!

I agree, Lewis is an idiot. His lines for today's practice were just stupid.
Kessel-Bergeron-Murray
Axelsson-Savard-Boyes
Sturm-Primeau-Donovan
Hoggan-Mowers-Stastny
What is this man thinking, does he know how to coach?Obviously he needs to do what you said and get our top line back together. Savard and Murray can never play together because they both can't skate with the puck, but i'd rather have one very good line and a shitty 2nd line(savard's line) than have two lines that can't do much of anything.

Lewis an idiot? Certainly not. Do he fool around with the payroll; maybe. I'm willing to wait a bit before starting to say that a guy who sticked with Bowmen so many years is a proven loser. Coaches didn't stop puck or score...

I think the problem with the two top lines is that they are all speed/finesse and no grit. The problem with the PP is that they shoot the puck in then lose the battle to get it back. So far Bergeron seems to be the only top line player willing to go to the wall along the boards. That's why they failed so miseably with him on the blue line...

I know people will think I'm an idiot, but I'd be tempted to put Donovan with Savard and Murray. The problem with that? What to do with Kessel? When it comes right down to it, Kessel may be the crux of the whole problem. It's difficult to get any grit with him in the top two lines and coach already said Kessel needs more ice time than the 3rd or 4th lines would provide. So where's the grit? Where's that guy who battles for the puck along the boards and gets it to someone who can score? I say send Kessel to the baby B's and find a way to get a winger with grit into the mix, via trade if necessary. Somebody mean. Somebody nasty. Somebody big and bad.
