Bruins sign Michael Ryder 3 years/12 million

Sorry for nothing yesterday, my computer wouldn't let me log on to blogger.

So, no Hossa.  Sucks, but he did not want to come here and is going to sign for 8.5+ million.

We signed Michael Ryder, an ex-Hab.  The more I think about it, the more I like it (I am slowly coming out of my Hossa-haze).  The guy has a WICKED shot, I mean the puck flies off the stick.  He scored 30 goals twice, 25 another and a bad year last season.  If he can get 30-25-55, he'll be worth the money.  The Habs never had a playmaker like Savard either, so Ryder's game could go to another level.  Don't read much into last season, he was in the doghouse.  4 million is tough to swallow, esp. when guys like Kobasew got 2.333.  But, that is the going price, and he made 2.95 last year, so of course he was going to get a raise and with teams bidding on him, well that's what happens.  I know Ryder is a lot like Murray, but if it is Glen Murray at 28, then great.  92 points!  Ryder is only 28 and we have him in the prime of his career.  Ryder was a nice consolation for Hossa.  Also, next season we can snag another player because we have a TON of money coming off the books.

I bet Ryder scores more goals than Tanguay....

Hossa's gone. Oh well, at this point his asking price is way too much. Now that we have a 28yr old Murray I don't see the 60yr old Murray playing with the B's next year. I see them buying him out to make room for Wideman.

It's going to take a while not to think of Ryder as a Hab, but hopefully he can change that for me real quick. Scoring a bunch of goals early on will go a long way for that.

The Bruins do have an offer on the table for Hossa, along with a dozen other teams.

He's not going to sign here, unless we dump Murray, Manny and Schaeffer's contract, and its still a long shot.

Dont want to be a pessimist, but its just not going to happen.

Barring any more significant signings, the Bruins wont have to move anyone to afford Wideman who will be awarded 1.8 - 2.2 million. If we dont sign any more wingers, Murray will stay, and with him staying healthy and having Bergeron back on the PP, he can score 20+ and contribute in other ways as he always has.

Im on the bandwagon for a Glen Murray turn around in Boston.

Hossa signs with Detroit for 7.4, a one year deal.

If thats not indication he didnt want to play here, I dont know what is. Im sure PC was able to match that amount, and offer more years.

Damn I hate the Wings.

WTF??? All that BS hubub about a one year 7.4 mil contract? Well at least he has a better chance of winning there, which was supposedly high on his list of teams to go to. But 1 yr? Nice, we get to go thru it all again next year.

Here were hossas thoughts, I am getting a huge contract offer from the Edmonton oilers. But I won't win with them. So instead of shortening the deal, and trying to win at the end of my career. i will take a 1 year deal now. Then I will get my money.

Hossa it is better off ending your career as a winner.

Big mmoney for a big team, wouldn't you pick it? Even if it is for one year, why not sign small and go big next year!

Hossa probably figured Detroit has a lot of good players, which will give him the support he needs to score more points so come next year he will get more money.

Hmmm, another Detroit cup perhaps? Fuck, how are they able to sign players for so cheap. Fuck Detroit. Here's hoping Hossa never gets a cup.

Is anyone thinking this could help the B's get Hossa. Next year we have alot more cap room and Hossa will once again be a FA!

If we put up another good season Hossa will want to come here.

Yeah, but I do not want to OVERPAY for Hossa next year. We shuld have just resigned Nylander when we had the chance!!! A great player for cheap money!

sturm and kobasew would sign for $0.59 per season if they had a 99% chance of wining the cup in detroit. Plus Zetterberg and Holmstrom were signed to 30 year contracts when they were only 2 years old. Detroit scouts are THAT good.

oh and by the way...not that i'm getting angry but it's easy to say "FIRE CHIA" because he didn't sign hossa, but would you pay so much for him? weren't the bruins expected to finish 29th in the league last year? we almost beat the #1 team in round 1, just needed to practice diving a bit more, and have the home fans sing annoying U2 songs and soccer chants. all we needed was a little extra scoring (kobasew, bergeron injured).

next year: all the sports pages will predict the burins to squeak into the playoffs (except FOXsports, they will say the Bruins will finish 33rd behind the Winnipeg Jets and the Atlanta Flames (FOXsports sucks). What will happen is the Bruins will finish 6th in the division (most easter teams now suck worse (even tampa, trust me) and all the talent is going to the west. HOSSA signed in the west, but who cares? put him in the east and we'll send MURRAY out to take-out his knees again.
you expect a cup next year?!?! keep dreaming...but we're building with krejci, nokie, lucic and 20 other guys all under 26. relax.

Ryder is better than nothing and Hossa is way too much money, although I wish we could have gotten him. Does anyone think that were done or do we have any cap money left to sign someone else.

I'm in the minority but I like PC. The rest of my family and friends think i'm an idiot for that, and so do most of you probably

Ryder is a better version of Murray for slightly less money. Murray is gone. If the Bruins are smart, they will either trade him to a team that needs him in order to get to the payroll-minimum, or they will demote him to Providence. If they demote him to Providence, he is COMPLETELY off their books, gets paid all his money... but they have the option of bringing him up if someone goes on injury reserve.

Yeah, but can we do the same with Manny Fernandez?

i like chia, i mean hell, hes built a contender. whats not to like? he didnt sign hossa, boohoo, i bet claude liked ryder better anyway. hossa costs too much, and i think hes overrated. having bergeron back will put us back in the top 20 for scoring, ryder should put us in the top 15. our defensive system is sick, and timmy is a decent goaltender, which puts us in the top 5 defensive. thats good enough for a cup. so go easy on chia.
