Yes, that's the only word who can describe the overall performance of the team last night. Sadly for the fans, the team didn't showed up for 40 min. The defensive coverage was nothing then embarassing. So here's last night's Heroes and Zeroes.
Heroes:
- Lashoff, as a rookie, was not the worst defenseman on the ice. Still making mistakes but his calm and composure are impressive for a rookie.
- Offence and PP. The offense is still producing and that's a good news.
Zeroes:
- Paul Mara with a -4. What the hell he's doing on the ice???
- All the defensive squad for their lack of coverage and the incredible amount of dumb plays and giveaways.
- Goaltending: Do our goaltenders will ever bail this team out, at least, one time? Do they will stop to allow, at least, one bad goal per game???.
- Officiating: Doesn't seems to be able to call an entire game the same way.

Note to Thomas: Deflecting a pass who cross your crease is a basic play. Do you have any clue about basic play Timmy??? Maybe a trip to Providence can help you with that one
I only caught one goal and that was the second one. Mara should have covered Peca on that. He was just standing there!

news alert - goaltending will not help this team (yet)....they are maddening to watch with their indifference to the puck on D. they are floating in the neutral zone. there is a complete lack of pressure defensively that is dispicable, they let guys walk around untouched, stand around alone in the crease and if they do bother to engage the opposition its illegally... i mean come on.
I don't know if the word " dispecable " is too strong to describe B's defensive performance,last night. Ugly would be too soft...
I was really dissapointed in the B's effort in their defensive zone. I knew we were in trouble in the first minute, when I saw two defenseman sort of bump players along the boards rather than give them a proper hit. Wimps! Not paid enough to make hits, are you? (grumble grubmle)
And I think Brad Park said it best when he said there were three guys who were asleep on the first goal. This has nothing at all to do with how talented they are (although latrappe seizes every excuse to fault Thomas whih is really wearing thin). It was about effort. Sure--they were up for the fun stuff: rushing the puck up the ice to see if they could get one past razor. But they couldn't be bothered to play the sort of physical Hockey that wins games. They should have been up for this game! If this keeps up we'll need a new coach.
I can handle losing, but the one thing I can't stand is a wimpy effort, particularly from guys paid this much! If I were the GM or the owner I'd be absolutely livid.
Agreed. There's no point to keep York and Dempsey in the line up when you have Lashoff and Stuart who can benefit from valuable NHL experience. The same can apply to Mowers and Primeau.
Ottawa is in the same position as Boston. I expect them to be very strong Saturday. If the B's offer the same defensive sorry display as last night;they are DOA. Maybe it will make Chiarelli work harder on the phone...

Greg, i might be tough on Thomas; i don't denied it. Nor i denied that the defense was horrible. The fact is that the more Thomas is playing; the more he give peoples, who despise him, ammunitions to shoot at him. Yesterday, WBZ spend, almost, all their two intermissions about the goaltending and the defense. Like you requested, i will let peoples speak for themselves...
latrappe why are you so hard on the goaltending yet you defend Chara every chance you get? I don't care how good he is supposed to be if he doesn't perform he should be able to be criticized. His performance so far this season has been weak.
I'm hard on the goaltending because they didn't do the job they should. Whatever the name between the pipes; our keepers are unable to bail out the team when they need it the most. Some basic saves are not made and it kill the momentum. Do the goaltenders should take all the blame? No. Do the defensive squad is a mess? Yes. Each mistake made by the defensive squad end up in the net. That's unusual. Our goaltender have to bail out the defense a bit. Not all the time, but sometimes. That's,i think, the most frustrating part.
Do Chara have a good season so far? No. But, this guy is logging 30 min +; he's playing on PP, PK and most of the time, his partner is a rookie. For the shake of the discussion, let's assume that Chara play with Jurcina. Jurcina misplayed the puck and it lead to a breakaway. The opponent score. That's a -1. Do Chara would have a better +/- rating by playing with Stuart? I don't know. Even if Chara is a genetic freak, he will have to adjust himself to play 30 min +. The only thing i know, is that Chara is a positive asset for our young defensemans. They will play a more relax game knowing that Chara can bail them out. The defensive squad is a mess, right now and Chara is a part of it, that's granted. But this guy can bring so much to the table that i'm willing to be patient with him.
you could put a brick wall up over the opening to the net and take out one brick and then skate the goalie as an extra player and this team might play .500 right now....
How about the Bruins defence is horridly dispicable. I think that sounds better, eh neb?
