Fernandez Deal Falling Apart
Unless the Wild take down the asking price, Manny Fernandez won't be a Bruin. The Wild want a 1st rounder and a top roster player it seems. The Bruins will likely shift their attention elsewhere.

wonderful..if they don't get a goalie this offseason next year is hopeless
There is ALOT more work to do than just in net if we are to have a better season. Next year is hopeless if we play like we dont care. Thomas played like he cared. So as far as I'm concerned, we need D and a winger.
The Bruins can't go through another season having Thomas as a starter. He's a solid back-up who plays with his heart. If the Bruins are to make any damage in the division next year they need to build from the goaltender out
I dont think Manny is the answer. In all honesty, I dread losing PJ. I would prefer Bryzgalov, but what does Anaheim want?
Anaheim would probably want youth...they always talk about how they have gotten to where they are because of their young talent and their farm system...
whats your source
I'm not saying that will happen but I heard they're GM talk about how they have built the Ducks up through the draft and with young talent. Plus the guys on TSN said the Ducks will be very competitive for a while because of their core of young talent. Why wouldn't they want to stay on the same track?
What's Dallas looking for if the Bruins are able to get Turco?
boo
why dont we get wayne greztky
Because Wayne Grezktkzy does not exist.
If Dallas really is serious about moving Turco, they will probably want Toivo and a "top" roster player.
well i am Glad Chira did not give into Minny Insane Trade Request.
I think the Bruins best bet is tadem Hannu and Thomas.
I am very curious to see what the Briuns do in fa
we'll go nowhere with Thomas and Toniven sharing duties. Would someone please teach Alberts and Chara how to hit.
Even if we did get manny or marty, makes no difference. We are not winning the cup this year or next.
Anyone hear anything new on the trade front? I am waiting patiently to hear something but it does not appear to be happening tonight or tomorrow which sucks because I do not feel comfortable with Thomas and Toivo as the goalie tandom.
for turco, we would need to give them toivo and murray
also, toivo is gone so i wouldnt think about him too much.
thomas should backup, i think they will trade for a goalie, and then we work from there, maybe signing a winger by UFA time.
Toivo and Murray for Turco! I say make the deal now!!
Who are you and why are you so excited to get rid of Glen Murray? The guy scored 30 goals on the 7tyh worst offensive team in the league in less than 60 games. Glen is a BRUIN. Lets start realizing the difference between a hockey player and a Bruin.
I honestly say we don't trade for a goalie. If we bring in Manny or Marty we just slow down the arrival of Rask. The last time we had stability in net was way back with Moog and Lemelin. We go through goalies even faster then coaches.
I say we just sign an UFA to tandem with Thomas. Then we have Hannu if one gets hurt. No matter what anyone says, Thomas played his ass off for the team last year. Rask may even be ready this year. But regardless, I said this in a previous post... there are only a handful of goalies that would work. Thibault, Weekes, Aebischer, Belfour, Boucher, Joseph, or Burke. Out of all of them, the goalie with the best numbers last year was Belfour. And with Vokuon now in Florida, I doubt they re-sign him.
So let's bring in Belfour for around a million for one year. Then we bring in a big name d-man. Rafalski, Hamrlik, Sydor, Miller, Modry, or Preissing are out there. I'd like to see Rafalski back there. And finally, a center so we let Kessel mature on the first line with Savard and Murray. Yanic Perrault would be a great fit for his experience and his faceoff winning percentage. One thing that we definitely need to improve on.
Sorry for the long rant.... I just don't want to see a second tier goalie with a first tier contract come in here!
Murray can put the puck in the net, no doubt about it but if we can get Turco for only giving up Hannu and Murray, man lets do it. Then maybe bring in Rafalski on D and mayble a player up front like a Drury or Ryan Smith.
dont get me wrong, i love murray. but he is getting old now, and hes not aggressive. So if we could incorporate Murray into a deal for a solid defenseman or goaltender like bryzgalov, then it would be stupid not to.
Also, maybe I'm the only person in the world who sees it this way, but there is no way that PJ is a first liner. PJ is an elite 3rd line player and an extremely underrated defensive winger. Savard is probably one of the best passing centers in the league (behind Crosby and JoeyT), and Kessel is an explosive young talent who can score, so putting Kessel and savard on a line together would be the smartest thing to do. And if we can get rid of murray, then we should try to sign darcy tucker. i think that tucker could absolutely turn around the complexion of team. Imagine a first line of Darcy-Savard-Kessel?
with out Murray on the team we have no scoring so unless they are going to replace his 30 goals,we can be in serious trouble.

I disagree, if you can get Marty Turco or Manny Fernandez you do it because Tim Thomas while playing his rear end off made alot of mistakes, and was constitantly out of position, if we got another goalie we will be in great position, besides the other NHL teams started to guard murrays one timer root, untimatly making him non existant for the final ten games he played, so moving murray might not be a bad move especially if you can an all star goalie in Turco.
hockey08, the entire team was out of position and made mistakes. We can't just point the finger at Thomas. I don't think any of the players played up to their potential. Was it coaching? Was it attitude? No matter what it was... Thomas was not the only one making mistakes.
Bryzgalov and Fernandez are not the answer for Boston. Bryzgalov is just another backup who was playing on a MUCH better team, but was still only 2 games over .500. And Fernandez brings too much baggage. His moodiness and attitude are not right for Beantown!
Toskela, Vokoun, and Giguere are all off the market. And Dallas will want WAY too much for Turco. And what would Dallas want from Boston other then Kessel or Bergeron?
Bottomline.... the only choice is to bring in an unrestricted free agent. And what is sitting out there is slim pickings. But Belfour, regardless of age, is the so-called cream of the crop. Only other guy I would even consider is Hasek. But he will only come back to Detroit. Rask is only a year or two away..... from what scouts are saying. So a UFA is the only real choice.
Bosbrn77: If boston can land Brysgalov for a draft pick or two you better believe they would do it, I can't see anaheim asking for alot, at least they would not want our goalies because they have a young stud they are bringing up, and to say Rask is one or two years away is absurd, do we really want to rush him like we did Toivonen? The defense in Boston will be much better this season I think (especially if we can replace York and Allen with Mark Stuart and Matt Lashoff), so that should not be an issue. The problem will be the offense, trading murray would not help anything. But Boston does nothing this season if they can not get a goalie.
