Matt Lashoff

Matt Lashoff scored two goals for the Providence Bruins in Sunday's shootout lose to Albany. In only 14 games this season for the Baby B's, Lashoff has 4 goals and 4 assists to go along with 14 penalty minutes. He has seen regular time on both the powerplay and penalty kill. After last night, watching York run around in his own end on multiple occasions, I would not mind seeing Lashoff given another shot.

I understand the fact that you have to be careful with youngsters and avoid, at any costs, to put them in situations where they could collapse. That said, you have to put the best team you can on the ice and , in my opinion, York cannot be rated as " the best option ". Yes, Lashoff is young but with Chara or Brad Stuart, he will be fine. Lashoff cannot be worst, giveaways and penalties wise, then some of the veteran players on this team. Lashoff deserve a chance to show that he can make it. Right now, we need a defensman who can skate with the puck and who will make good decisions. What iv'e seen, so far, from Lashoff indicate me that he can do the job. Yes, he will make mistakes. But i'm willing to lose 2 or 3 games because of a Lashoff mistake then to see the team lose because of a holding penalty or a giveaway from a veteran.
