Brad Stuart News

According to the Boston Globe and TFP (The Fourth Period) the Bruins are trying to re-sign Brad Stuart, which they should. According to both sources Stuart wants to stay in Boston.... stay tuned for more details

My thoughts- I think the Bruins HAVE TO resign him or the deal with the Sharks last year looks really bad. I think you will see the Bruins sign him anywhere from 3-4.2 million a year

Bruins cant be forced to throw that much money at Stuart. Hes a great player but we will need to address other problems as well. If mara is moved then we can sign him. if not look for brad to be in a different uniform next season.

I don't think the new magagement gives a damn how last year's deal for Thornton looks. I mean, why should they? They didn't make it.

I do think long term success in the salary cap era depends on being able to keep your good players at reasonable salaries. The teams that can foster a good atmosphere, where players feel enough loyalty to consider signing an extension, are the teams that are going to be successful.

It's really ironic, if you think about it. The old guard B's management, doing the bidding of their owner, basically made themselves obsolete by working for the salary cap. After it became a reality, they would to have to go one way or another. Their way of doing business did anything but foster loyalty, and far too many bridges had been burned. I wonder if MOC ever realized that?

But back to Stuart--I've said before that I would consider his signing to be a really good sign for the future. Let's hope this rumor actually comes to something (for once).
