B's win 4-1

After being challenge by Darcy Tucker, the B's respond by sweeping their 2 games against Toronto with an impressive 4-1 win. Here's your Heroes and Zeroes for tonight's game.

Heroes:
-Tim Thomas: Stand up big on the 5 on 3, early in the third. He outplayed Raycroft.
-Shean Donovan: For scoring his first goal. His goal swing the momentum for the B's.
-The PK unit for shuting down Toronto's offense.
-Zdeno Chara: Played 31 minutes with a +1 rating. His play was HUGE in the 5 0n 3.

Zeroes:
-Darcy Tucker: Lots of talk but zero results. I guess he was too " tired " on the PP to hit the net instead of the post....

My zero in this game is Dave Lewis. Kessel got 5 mins of ice time. One shift in the 2nd and none in the 3rd. Thats just plain awful. Primeau, Mowers and Donovan, although did combine for a goal should not get 3 times the ice time Kessel does. Lewis coaches to not lose the game, not to win. He is so defensive minded its awful. They outshot us 2 to 1. This was a lucky win IMO. Thomas played great but we cannot rely on him to make 45 saves a night, we need some offense and Kessel/Chistov/Tenkrat bring that offense not Primeau/Mowers/Donovan. Sorry Lewis but I hate you.

Considering Kessel just got his first hit recently, and with the game having that playoff feel,Lewis decided to go with proven defenders. You play the game to win. Kudos to Dave.

Well, i guess you're not the only one to have that feeling regarding Lewis. His strategy seems to work but i agree that Kessel-Tenkrat and Chistov need to play more. Lewis says that he wanted to protect Kessel and avoid to put him in an unfair situation but this kid will waste his time if he plays only 5 min a game. Agreed that we cannot allow 45 shots a game. Good win !

My zero is the leafs. For all the cocky talk to the press O'niel saying that their style of play will beat the Bruins, tucker saying what a dirty attack by Mara, and steen saying the Bruins style of play is boring they showed nothing in this game other than they can score on Thomas if they knock him over and kick the puck in. The had every chance tonite to show, like the claimed since Saturday, that they are better than the Bruins and in the end showed it was the usual leafs over hyping. The Bruins out played them and when they didn't Thomas came up big every time.

Agreed Bomberdrz. But did you expect something more from Tucker. He runs his mouth for sure but, most of the time, he act like a deer...

Playing to win is sitting one of your best offensive players for the ENTIRE 2nd and 3rd period, with the exception of one shift?? Proven defenders? Donovan is a career -75. Mowers has never played more than 50 games in the NHL. Primeau is just awful and is a -80. You want to talk about not hitting, then lets talk about that line because none of them hit. I would def take my chances with Kessel up until the remaining 10 mins in the 3rd period. AWFUL coaching.

"Kudos to Dave."

I agree completely. Why is it that some people are never happy? I mean, it seems to me that the same people who complain that Kessel isn't getting enough playing time would be the first to want to give up on him and want to trade him away should he end up +/- 20.

Our goaltending sucks. Umm... no, I guess not.

No, wait, York sucks. Umm but he had a solid game against Toronto (after his sugery).

Ok then, Mara sucks.

Or maybe Primeau sucks?

Oh, I know! Lewis sucks! That's it!

I say fans who only find things to complain about suck. And I say that patience matters.

I'm amazed at how well Kessel is playing, given his circumstances. For sure, his defensive pay is better than it ought to be. Keep in mind this guy had only one year of college Hockey under his belt! So often he seems like he's just hanging on by his fingernails at the NHL level. He makes these fancy moves with the puck that would work at a lower level, bit in the NHL he usually has his head handed to him. Truth is, he should be in Providence. If it weren't for the fact the the B's are desparate for decent forwards that's where he'd be, getting tons of playing time and buidling confidence.

I think we'll see more of Chistov and Tenkrat as time goes on. Lewis is patient and willing to let things come along slowly. He's shown again and again that he's not going to hand any player something on a silver platter--he's going to make them earn it. Look at Chistov up there in place of PJ. Why? Because he earned it.

Kudos to Dave.

Only a Boston fan could find fault in a win over a division rival.

I couldn't care less who Lewis plays. He could start Chara in goal and let Thomas play first line center. As long as they win, I'm happy.
