Mike Keenan Fired

Panthers GM Mike Keenan has been fired today. According to reports, it was because him and coach Jacques Martin weren't seeing "eye to eye." It is surprising that they didn't let it go a few games into the season to see how his signings and trades worked out. Luongo for Bertuzzi was a HORRIBLE and I repeat horrible trade, and then signing Ed Belfour. Loosing out on Chara, Jovanovski and Blake and signing Ruslan Salei. Keenan, lets say, wasn't the best GM but was a good coach. I bet you we will see him behind another hockey bench soon. I mean, come on, what team HASN'T he coached for?

Too bad that this move happens few weeks too late. They could keep Luongo and rebuild their franchise. I cannot believe the ownership didn't fired Keenan before. Knowing his history with star players; the whole drama with Luongo was inevitable. Do now, owners will understand that Keenan destroy more then he build...

Agreed, Luongo is clearly the best goalie in the league, and to trade him for an overpaid struggling forward is stupid. Almost like the Thornton deal lol. Thank god he wasn't GM in Boston. O wait we had MOC, just as bad. Luongo was willing to sign long term in Florida, as long as the Panthers didn't trade him. Vancouver got a HUGE bargain. If anyone remembers, we offered Thornton and Raycroft for Luongo and Joikonin I want to say, may have been a different center. But to say the least, Florida got the shaft on that deal, and could've gotten way more value in return.

Brought a cup to the Rangers in '94. Maybe he'll return there as some sort of assistant coach
