Chiarelli Wants to Make a Splash

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced today that this team would like to make a big splash.  He admitted that he is trying to move some contracts, such as Manny Fernandez, Glen Murray, Peter Schaefer, PJ Axlesson and Phil Kessel.  It seems unlikely Chiarelli would move Kessel, since he did not want to trade him at the deadline.

Matt's take: Well, there you go folks.  Murray is all but gone, and it seems he will buy him out if no dean can be done in the next few days.  I doubt Kessel is traded unless it is for an impact player.  July 1st will be interesting I'll tell you that.

PJ should be staying as well. But it seems likely Murray and Manny will be gone.

Sucks to watch Murray go if he does. He played with a lot of heart last season, and every season for the Bruins for that matter. If he does play for another team, I can all but gaurantee he'll score 20+ goals again.

As far as Manny goes, we should have ol' mad mike come down and throw his equipment out of the locker room.

Right about now I will believe it when I see it.

I would love to see the Bruins make a big splash. But like I said, I will believe it when I see it.

Same here I'll believe it when I see it. Get rid of Murray he is old, he can't skate and he is lazy. He shows no passion and I here it all the time from other Bruins fans. I can't see Murray scoring over 20 goals he's injured all the time.

I have said for two months now that Kessel should be traded - Murray sorry but your time has come. Schaefer - Fernandez - can't leave soon enough. The only keeper is Axleson- Check the bruins record when he did not play - Most first line oposition do not like to play against him - he is the only shut down guy left. Mark my words get something for Kessel while his stock is high,

How about kessel + Murray for Gionta? The devils might take that offer

I really REALLY hope they don't trade Kessel. But if they do then it better be one hell of a deal.

I would move Kessel but it would have to be for a guy that can help this team immediately. Like a Evgeni Malkin. I would rather him over both Hossa or a Gaborik, b/c of age and skill. Malkin isn't known for his D but he is exceptional. I was pretty skeptical in trading Kessel but if this "splash" is Malkin then do it.

Boston:
Malkin

Pitts:
Kessel, Kobasew, Soderberg, LAshoff, Hunwick, Kreijc, and picks

Sign Malone, Nagy, Fedodenko for LW... Much Rather Malone GRIT...

Sign a replacement for Kobasew or sturm moves there. Or maybe trade for Maxim Afinogenov... or someone like that a respectable goal scorer and gives speed to the second line.

Then sign a puck moving D-man like Hainey or Campbell or something.

Get three or four guys to help this team.

man, that would be a BAD DEAL, you are gutting the team and future for one guy.

Afinogenov - Wow - what have you been smoking - We already have Kessel and had Samsonov - we do not need another guy who skates down the ice and falls down and looses the puck. Malkin is a good player but has a lot to prove yet. I highly doubt he will amount to an elite player, his effort and heart came through in the playoffs, I don't want to hear that he was burnt out from the long season - hard to feel sorry for guys who work 8 months a year playing hockey a couple time a week. No one feels sorry for us suckers who have to work 40-50 hours a week 50 weeks a year for a fraction of what they make. Ultimately these primadonna's need to realize they are getting ridiculous money for playing a game. Cry me a river.
