How Much?

Just out of curiosity, how much would you as the GM pay for a certain players, cap regardless, what do YOU think is their value on the open market. I'll name 20 players or so, see what you have to say and what you'd pay. The figure is the max amount I'd pay.

You are willing to over pay for almost everyone on that list.
You could be GM for the Bruins - 7.5 for Chara???

Why does everyone look at Chara and think that he was overpaid? He had 25 other teams make offers to him, and Boston wasn't even the highest. There were two big reasons why signing Chara was good. One, we needed a number one defenseman. Something we briefly had with Gonchar, but haven't truly had since Bourque left. And two, it made a statement to all players that this isn't the same Bruins team. Too many players did not want to come to Boston because of Sinden and O'Connell. Chiraelli has changed that. Unfortunately, now players don't want to come and play for Lewis, so we are right back to square one.
As for overpaying. I only saw a few that I would not have paid that much to. Only because I don't think the player is worth it, period. But in this era, there is no overpaying, it is getting what you need before the next GM does. Matt said he would pay Datsyuk 5 million per. Well the Wings just signed him to a 7 year deal worth between 6 and 7 million per(on Spectors). Does that mean, Detroit overpayed? Maybe. But they had to, to keep him in Hockeytown.
Remember, it is supply and demand. If you won't pay it, someone else will!

Brad Stuart is worth 2 mil. I'd pay 3.8 for Souray. Everyone else I would pay around 1 million less then what you would pay.
