I think they need to make one or two more moves. Another d-man and foward.

  3. I think that the teams success last season can be built on with the squad we have right now. Another year of experience for the sophomore players and as well as our rookies from last year should only be improved on. Sure I would like another d-man or forward that have proven track records in the NHL today, but we get that with Sturm back in the line up. If we can remain healthy next season, and should everybody sign; i.e. Kessel and Hunwick then we should be sitting in a good situation. I'm going to try to remain positive about the team we have right now.

What about PM Bergeron from Min and Beachaumin (spelling?) from the Ducks? Would either of those 2 work for our D needs? I would take either and sign our RFA's and consider it done.

Spector reported Dandenault turned down signing with the Bruins. He is hoping to re-sign with the Habs.

Another Hab to Boston? Come on PC, there are more players out there. I'd rather keep Hnidy then get Dandenault!

Keep the cap in mind, kiddos!
I'd be shopping Sturm, and Kobasew in exchange for a punk-lugger. Wardo for a pick. Hoping to end up with something like:

    Lucic-Savard-Kessel
    Recchi-Bergeron-Wheeler
    Sobotka-Krejci-Ryder
    Thornton-Begin-Bitz---Marchand

    Chara-PUCKLUGGER FROM TRADE
    Ference-Wideman
    Stuart-Hunwick---Boychuk

    Thomas
    Rask

  13. Tommy, we need another forward that can Score: Afinogenov or Sykora (take your pick). thn if we sign one of those guys we can bring back the Krejci, Ryder, Wheels Line, when you bring Afinogenov or sykora to bergy's line and put sobatka in providence or scratch thort

  14. Lucic-savard-kessel
    Recchi-Bergeron- Afinogenov/Sykora

    Spector reported it from RDS.CA.

***RDS.CA: reports the Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals are interested in former Montreal Canadiens winger Alex Kovalev while Mathieu Dandenault spurned a contract offer from the Boston Bruins as he hopes to re-sign with the Canadiens.****

wut do u think of alexei kovalev? great player. he can replace kessel. ship kessel and ward/ference/wideman (choose one) to nashville for shea weber. weber is a great offensive d-man that the bruins would easily benifit from and i think he is exactly wut the b's r lookin for. also i think u improve up front with kovalev. and his skill.

    Hnidy to Minnesota

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous5:02 PM

    Nope.
We had the 2nd most goals scored, second only to the Red Wings last year due to our depth at scoring.
We got booted out of the playoffs because we couldn't lug the puck out of the zone and turn it into offense because our D was banged up and we didn't have a certified puck-mover.
Afinagenov has been in the doghouse for the past 2 years for trying to be too fancy and not playing North to South and not producing. He adds nothing to our team, and doesn't play Bruins hockey.
Sykora gives you fewer goals than Sturm or Kobasew. Plus Wheeler gets to play his natural side instead of the off-wing. Also, they broke up the Krejci line several times last year when it got stale. These guys are professionals who switch up lines... it's part of the game. Plus you keep your salary structure intact.

  21. giekrboy136:03 PM

ok so im gunna change up my idea of shea weber. trade ward/sturm, ward/kobasew, ference/sturm, ference/kobasew for shea weber. with weber having a 4.2M cap hit these combo of players cap hits are either about equal to weber's cap hit or gives up more space of about 2M at the most. so the bruins can exapnd to 6-7M cap space. sign kessel and hunwick w/ the remaining amount of cap space. kessel being the 1st priority obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  22. BosBrn776:45 PM

giekrboy13, I like your way of thinking going after Weber. But there is NO WAY Nashville gives him up for ANY combo you listed. The closest one would be Ference and Kobasew but a prospect and a high pick would have to be included. But to get a player like Weber would be well worth it!

Ference, Kobasew, Marchand and a 2nd or Ference, Kobasew, Bodnarchuk and a 1st for Weber and Alexander Sulzer might work.

Unless you just do Kessel and Ward for Weber and Sulzer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. gikerboy136:52 PM

no this would be to keep kessel hopefully
so i rather go w/ Ference, Kobasew, Marchand and a 2nd so we can keep the 1st rd, but if the want the 1st rd then swap those.

    ReplyDelete
  24. gikerboy136:53 PM

i jus want to keep kessel and add weber

    ReplyDelete
  25. BosBrn776:59 PM

I agree.... I think Kessel can still mature and improve.

    ReplyDelete
  26. BosBrn777:05 PM

Although I am not comparing Kessel to Neely, it took Cam 4 seasons to get rolling. Lets give Phil a little more time.... unless the payoff is well worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. gikerboy137:10 PM

very tru. wut about bergeron and ward for weber. cuz weber is only 23 like bergeron and is the base of the orginization. the bruins make room for kessel and hunwick to sign and nashville still has their young base for the future. i know ppl dont wna tto trade bergeron but bergeron being the playmaker type and nashville who seems to have a good # of goal scorers could put this trade over the top for nashville. and u dump wards salary. jus another adjustment

    ReplyDelete
  28. BosBrn777:19 PM

I think with Bergeron's concussions, that we would have to include more. A pick, prospect or both to get Weber. Weber is the franchise for Nashville right now, so they are going to want something huge.

    ReplyDelete
  29. gikerboy137:21 PM

i know this might be a little too much, but maybe savard, its his contract yr., so after next yr jus sign him back maybe? haha. but ur right bergeron 2nd rd pick, and colborne for weber and 2nd or 3rd rd pick

    ReplyDelete
  30. vince_m8:05 PM

It's all nice but getting Weber will never happen. We would be better off looking at Bergeron or Beauchamin.

i jus heard about a controversey that CHI is having. its w/ kris virsteeg, cam baker, and several other younger players. the NHL, and NHLPA is investagating. if the problem stands the players involved become UFA's. so if that happens i say the bruins pick up virsteeg, then trade kessel's rights to EDM for souray who i have heard has been on the trading block several times

    kessel for kaberle is toast:
    http://www.torontosun.com/sports/hockey/2009/07/04/10020991-sun.html

    not happening.

hey, can someone who knows for sure answer this please?
how much cap space do the bruins have right now?

no idiots who think they know, just people who know for sure.

what is happening with kessel if there isn't enough space? and no speculation about a deal with shea webber and some obscure nashville farm team player sulzer (noone watches hockey that much, sorry. there's no way you just know about these people)

    ReplyDelete
  33. BosBrn771:34 PM

From what nhlnumbers is posting, the Bruins sit at 53.575 mil. Which leaves less then 4 mil of cap space if they go right to the ceiling!

That means someone HAS to move.

And Mook, as for speculation on a Weber and Sulzer deal... I wasn't speculating anything. I was offering up an idea on a blog. Something that I felt would be a great addition if we traded away Kessel. Kind of like your infatuation with Heatley? Which, I would love Heatley in Boston.... IF his salary wasn't so high!( and as for Sulzer, he is not really obscure. He played well for the Milwaukee Admirals last year. He would fit well in the farm system, to add more depth! Yes..... I watch and read about hockey a lot!)

    ReplyDelete
  34. gikerboy131:54 PM

but it says boston has Cap Space 5.340. it doesnt matter anymore cuz kessel is gunna be gone for a couple of picks and the bruins are gunna struggle this yr because of a lack of offense. all im gunna say is that the bruins need to replace kessel w/ someone who can score if they dont snagg kessel

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous3:18 PM

replace kessel with sturm. next year when the cap goes down (and half the blackhawk team is a UFA) we're golden.

  36. Anonymous3:19 PM

yes borbrn, you are a hockey junkie! i don't really follow AHL, only OHL outside the biggs.

    ReplyDelete
  37. BosBrn773:26 PM

Mook, I agree with the Blackhawk team! LOL

And I also agree... I am a junkie, Sir! I follow all the leagues as best I can. I'd love to be a scout, since I read up so much.

    ReplyDelete
  38. BosBrn773:52 PM

Thinking on how bad Mook wants Heatley, and how good he would look in a B's jersey.... what about.

Kessel, Sturm, Ward, a prospect and a 1st round pick to Ottawa for Heatley and Alex Auld.

This would give us an experienced back up behind Thomas in case Rask does not make the club.

The B's roughly have 4-5 mil depending on where you read it in cap space. Sturm and Ward would save us 6 mil, giving us 10 - 11 mil total. Heatley would then eat up 7.5 of that, giving us 2.5 - 3.5. Use that to re-sign Hunwick and sign MA Bergeron. Which should still leave us with around a mil to play with.

    Lines would then be....

    Lucic - Savard - Heatley
    Kobasew - Bergeron - Recchi
    Wheeler - Krejci - Ryder
    Begin - Sobotka - Thornton/Bitz

    Chara - Ference
    Stuart - Wideman
    Bergeron - Hunwick

    Thomas
    Rask/Auld

Just a thought since it is so quiet!

  39. Anonymous4:26 PM

you really like MA bergeron, eh?

is that a current rumour or a wish? i like beauchemin but he may be too expensive...

    ReplyDelete
  40. BosBrn774:46 PM

Honestly, I have liked Bergeron for a few years. But there are other defensemen I think would be a better fit. But you said it.... "may be too expensive."

I do not think Bergeron would cost us much, and he is a puck moving defenseman. Which is something the B's say they are looking for.

It is definitely not a current rumor.... just a suggestion to waste some time today! lol.

Our defense is not too bad, but if we can move some salary off there, so be it. Who is available, though?

Dennis Seidenberg, Nick Boynton (uhm no! lol), Paul Mara, Andrew Alberts (see a pattern? lol), Marek Malik, Rhett Warrener, Matt Walker, Chris Chelios, Sergei Zubov, Martin Skoula, and Ossi Vaananen are a few to consider.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Zubov is the best in that list

if cam barker hits the free agent market we need to sign him, even if it is for 3-5 million a year, he is worth that.

im just speculating here cuz the rumors have been quiet and i just had the most brutal fourth of july in my life, but what about kessel to the lightning for malone, and a first rounder? maybe the first rounder is to much to ask for but tampa bay are a bunch of retards and we could try to fuck them over. or we could just throw in ference with kessel, that could do the trick.

we get bigger up front, and get a goal scorer and a first by doing so. i would add a puck moving d-men coming back to us in that deal, but tampa bay does not have that much to offer. that deal would only work though if we signed a puck moving d or acquired one somehow. cam barker.

btw its sad to see hnidy and reich go, i was huge fans of both and thought they both would be back, reich had a great year in providence and hnidy was solid and a good guy to have around.

    ReplyDelete
  45. BosBrn778:59 AM

I agree 100% psands. Although neither were highly skilled, they were both character guys and did what was asked of them. We did not see much of Reich, but the Sheriff played well and played hard last season. I wish them both well.

I remember in years past, when a player I liked would leave, I would say, "Good luck, at least now you have a chance at a Cup!" Now.... it is hard to say that, because I think Boston has as good of a chance for a Cup as any other team.

    Go Bruins!!
